I do think that the beginning of last year showed we moved Chourio a bit fast. I like the idea of A balls this year, AA/AAA next and start 2027 in the bigs at 19 an that is if he is hitting like .300 every level and showing defense chops.

I don't think Chourio was moved too fast at all - expecting any prospect/young player, no matter how talented, to never have any extended stretch of struggles adapting to a new league (particularly MLB) is unrealistic.

Had Chourio continued struggling through the AS Break and wound up finishing last season in AAA instead of putting up borderline MVP-caliber production from July - September in Milwaukee, then yeah I'd say his Opening Day promotion as a 20-yr old was probably a bit too hasty.

Start Made at A ball stateside this season and let his performance dictate his progression the same way Chourio's did.  It wasn't until Chourio's 2nd MiLB season where many people started going "OMG!!!" when he started destroying A+ and AA pitching as a 19 yr old.  Made won't turn 18 until May of this year.

Confirmation that Mr. Made will be playing for the Mudcats

Now we just wait to see if Pena and/or Anderson join him.

They should join him at some point- hopefully sooner rather than later.

Not sure how reliable it is (maybe he heard it from former FG scribe, current Brewers Director of Player Information August Fagerstrom??) but Longenhagen said Pena would be joining Jesus at Carolina in his latest chat.

I'd assume Pena is gonna join him in Carolina. I think the front office is excited about Pena as well. Norris (who was the first on Chourio breakout in the mainstream) actually saw Pena in person and liked him more than Made. I'm sure that's changed now but if both can hold their own/play well in low A. Well... that is one hell of a one two punch of prospects.

I think there is a realm where Made sees a touch of time in AA though that probably is too aggressive for my taste nor do I think its super likely. Just possible.

There is a lot of helium with Jesus, and I want to see him succeed, but also realize that Jackson Chourio ascension is a generational scenario where the talent and the production mesh so quickly.

I suspect Jesus will stay at low A all season with a late season call up to A+ if doing very well. But we are all speculating here. I would love for him to mash, go up to high A in the 2nd half and then join Biloxi for the end of season/playoffs (similar to Chourio), but I also have dreams that don't quite come true in real life as well.

Pena will another interesting one to watch, as he seems to be running made with Jesus and it will be curious if the two prospects rise in tandem (assuming similar production), or whether they will see different paths.

Again, I want Jesus to do well given all the hype, but I am accepting that having a solid low A season and being in Carolina all year is still a very positive sign (Lara and Yophery have both done that and I don't think were hurt with that approach), and Jesus is about 6 months younger than both were when they started low A, so this is already a "promotion" compare to those two, And he is 2 months younger than Chourio was in his low A debut.

The seeing possible time this year in AA was not me wish casting btw. That is a direct quote from Ben Badler and the Baseball America pod.

I think that is very audacious though and unlikely.

Chourio is the blueprint. He made it to AA (even if it was only for a week) in his age 18 season. Though Chourio was very overmatched in that week.

For reference, Chourio started the '22 season in Carolina and they gave him 67 games and ~300 at bats before they bumped him to Wisconsin. He was in Appleton for 30+ games and then they gave him a week in AA to end the campaign.

That would be hyper aggressive with Made.. but would be wild and exciting if he forces that kind of push. Living up here in the Fox Valley selfishly I just hope he makes it here before year is over.

It does look like Pena is joining Carolina according to the transactions here:

The folks in Zebulon need to enjoy them as much as they can because all of us up here in Appleton will be requesting their services soon enough :)
