Our 1B platoon guys are a combined 0 for 7 with 5 Ks and a pop up.

I'm not saying we need the prime of Prince Fielder at 1B but anything is better than these two.

If Yelich can play 1st at all, next year is as good of a time as any.

I just cannot fathom the amount of guys who just cannot put the ball in play. Not one shortening the swing either. It's all or nothing. Shameful baseball. Do these guys not have video of Tony Gwynn. Wade Boggs? Unbelievable stuff.

That's not how baseball is played anymore.

Yet Civale has better numbers over the same stretch (in ERA, not necessarily all peripherals, but it's a very small sample size).

No one is talking about him as a #2.

Frankie has been decent. Again, he's allowed at least 3 earned runs in all but 2 starts. What am I missing here? That's not someone I'd want taking the ball in a Game 2 for me.

Civale has a 3.72 ERA with the Brewers (so barely better than Montas) and a 4.79 FIP and 4.59 xFIP (so much worse than Montas). And the peripherals are always going to be more predictive moving forward, especially in smaller samples like this.

Montas is definitely not the guy I'd usually want starting G2 of a playoff series for a division-winning team, but on this rotation, I don't see anyone better.

Pretty poor team performance tonight. Still have a chance to win because the Reds are not very good and we are, but outside of Chourio, Adames, Perkins and Ashby, the entire team has played poorly.

Cruz, Santillan, and Farmer have combined for 14 outs with 13 of them via the strikeout. That's some bad hitting.

3 out of the 4 do have ERA’s around 2.5 but yeah that’s some bad baseball

What year was this post written?

Copy and paste for each of the last 10 years with small exceptions for Thames  and Jesus Aguilar.

Well this is exactly the point. I'm all for two full hacks but with two strikes to make no adjustments of any kind and just k is dumb and it's boring. Not only that but it's bad business as pitching is being paid based in part to striking out tons of guys who aren't even trying.

14Ks in 8 innings is pretty bad

If you're going by the best combination of stuff, upside and performance, I'd think it would be Tobias.

I get it. I don't even disagree. But that's not how these guys are being coached from little leagues all the way up. It's not aesthetically pleasing, but it's not going to change. Big hacks, with emphasis on exit velo, launch angle etc, etc, etc. Putting the ball in play at the expense of exit velo (even with 2 strikes) is done.

That announcer just pimped a routine flyout to Chourio in LF. Off Espinal's bat you'd have thought he hit that 400

Dude hit the ball off his hands. That thing wasn't going anywhere.
