Wed. 9/18 - It's a Winner Takes All Game 3 for Wisconsin; Sounds Play Double-Header

I honestly don't think I've ever seen C Matt Wood so sure catching misfired pitches behind the dish. He's catching everything right now. In the dirt. Off the bounce. Cleanly. I don't think I've seen him catch a cleaner game in his time as a Brewer.

SEE. That's what Perez can do. When he gathers cleanly he has the accurate arm to get outs on the base paths. He gets the OF assist to end the inning.

I'm hoping Estevez understands Rudy's night is over. He gave you what you needed. PLEASE show us some Molina. I beg you.

After going 0-for-5 with RISP and stranding 7 in a tough 2-1 loss in the first game of their doubleheader at Norfolk, AAA Nashville calls on RHP Taylor Clarke (4.71 ERA with 51 Ks in 65 IP) to handle Game 2. Campbell, Navarreto and Dorrian enter for Rodriguez, Mejia and Arroyo.

Yophery just looking totally overmatched at the plate today. Not sure I've seen a single comfortable swing.

Yup. Gone is the feel good post-Game 1. He's looked undisciplined and then tentative when he did make contact. Strange. But, then again, to be expected with the big jump up.

With so many left-handed hitters in the Lake County lineup, I’m hoping LHPs Molina and Manfredi can cover the next 4 innings or more if necessary.

Let's see what Estevez has in store. The Lake County manager has played his pitching cards masterfully so far. That was a savvy switch to the lefty there to get out of that inning clean.

Pretty questionable lineup construction from Estevez to stack 3 straight LHH together. Lake County brings in a LHP who gets 2 outs with a BB against the trio.

Exactly. It. Is. Time. To use the lefty weapons. I honestly want Molina first. It's no secret. 😅 I want to see if he can pound the zone and dazzle with that change-up like he did in Low-A. I'd save Manfredi for later innings. BUT, that's probably just me. LOL.

Also like I said questionable lineup construction from Estevez to stack 3 LHH together like that.

I can live with the results for Molina. I really really just wanted to see him in this scenario. I know he'll throw strikes. I know he'll get swings and misses. He's deadly vs Lefties. I can live with the results. He needs the exposure. Ooooof. That's two very hard hit balls. Lefty screams one down the RF corner. 2-1 Lake County. Belt high. Gotta get that lower in the zone, Mase!

And Molina gives up another roped double to the next hitter. Like I said yesterday. Expecting a player to come straight to A+ and deliver because they had success in A is not a guarantee.

Let's see how he responds to his first adversity as a professional pitcher.

The adversity already happened after the leadoff double and he responded by grooving an 0-2 meatball

Absolutely not. BUT, it absolutely shouldn't deter us from wanting to see them in these situations. 😉 I personally desperately wanted to see him in this type of high-intensity scenarios.

You’d think someone might whisper to the announcer that Birchard is a RHP and definitely NOT the lefty struggling on the mound. Although I guess it would explain the struggles…

I mean, I would casually opine this is very much still an adversity situation. AND, he responded with a free pass. Certainly struggling mightily in outing One at High-A. Looks like he may even be pulled here. TOUGH. Yowch. Shake it off. Good on Estevez for the aggressive move. I like it.

Totally off-topic but that Clarke trade hurts. Devanney was someone I really liked last year and I thought could make it to the majors as a UTIL. Oh well
