Green Bay should have beaten Chicago two weeks ago. The recency bias on this board is somethin' else.

I'm not saying they will win a game (they will be underdogs for sure) but the offense is fine. They could outscore several of the playoff teams.

NFL has always been about trend of play. They're more hurt than they were even two weeks ago, Chicago is peaking offensively, and I think many of them have mailed it in as well, even if subconsciously. I wouldn't take any wager on the Packers with a 7 point spread in Chicago at this point, personally.

Sure but one game is not a trend. If it is, then the Bears defense is one of the worst in the league.

If you don't throw them the ball or fumble it going in to score, the Bears absolutely are one of the worst defenses in the league.

49ers are on an extended offensive heater, but they hung a 40 burger on a healthy Bear defense despite Williams and Kittle sitting last night.  The Bears played well on offense because the 49er defense is also a speed bump.

I mean their defense IS bad. They are a pummeling OL team that doesn't turn the ball over. Their defense forces turnovers but gets eaten up pretty well. Just not a believer that falling ass backwards into the playoffs to travel is going to end well.

Since Parsons went down, I accepted the fact the Packers' title shot this year was gone because this team was no longer able to string together 4+ games of success to sustain a deep playoff run.  That doesn't mean they dont have a shot at winning a playoff game or two if the matchup is favorable.  A first round game at Chicago is about as favorable a matchup the 7 seed can get - and if you win that game, you're going to face a 1 seed that either has Sam Darnold at quarterback or a team with a defense as bad or worse than yours in the 49ers.

The Packers wouldn't be favored in any of those games....but if Love is healthy I think any of those matchups would be competitive and come down to the 4th quarter as a 1 possession game.

I don't think they're winning any games but I can at least entertain things going their way in Chicago without dumb fumbles etc.

I think SF or Seattle will absolutely demolish them. SF might run for 300 yards.

The round 2 matchup would either be a shootout or ugly taffy pull, IMO...

49ers arent going to blow a team out that can also score - their defense isnt good enough.  I can see a blowout happening in Seattle because of their defense if Darnold plays well.

So much for the Rams being the team to beat. If they get their asses handed to them on the road at Carolina and Atlanta like this, what are they going to do in Philly or Chicago?

I just noticed Atlantas win last night potentially puts them in position to determine the nfc south.  If tampa wins, that puts them in a 2 way tie.  If Atlanta wins on Sunday, they are now a 3 way tie.  Tampa has the 2 way tie breaker, but Carolina has the 3 way.

Remember what Yoda said:

The NFC South sucks.  The 4 seed could be a team with a losing record.

It does seem like winning in the playoffs has a lot more to do with coach preparation and proper strategy than merely having the better group of players. Maybe Ben Johnson is that kind of coach.

Carolina is getting worked by the refs.

NFL officiating has never been worse than it has been this year, and officiating across all sports seems to get worse and worse as time passes.

I don't think Troy Aikman has ever agreed with anyone going for it on 4th down .

The Bears could absolutely win the NFC. It's just that kind of year.

And I think Philadelphia has rallied at just the right time.

Eagles are my NFC pick and have been for a few weeks.

I still think it's the Rams. Every team has flaws though. Wide open.

A 8-9 team will make the playoffs in the NFC and be the 4 seed.

Whoever gets the 5 seed will be lucky as they will be playing a 8-9 team with a lot of flaws.  The Rams are going to win over the Cardinals which will give them the 5th seed over the 49ers.  The Falcons probably win over the Saints and that gives the Panthers (8-9) the 4 seed.

The Bears or Eagles are the 2 or 3 seed.  If both teams win or lose the Bears own the tiebreaker over the Eagles.  The Eagles have to win and the Bears have to lose in order for the Eagles to get the 2 seed.  I think the Eagles would prefer to play the Packers over playing the Rams or 49ers.

The AFC looks to be the best conference in the NFL again.  Which probably means an NFC team is going to win the SB.

Before you call the #5 seed lucky, the last two teams to qualify for the playoffs despite a losing record won their first round games (2010 Seahawks, 2014 Panthers) and the Eagles are resting many of their starters today too so I don't think they want any part of the Packers.
