I had no expectations for winning the bullpen game so this is just a bad series sweep on the road with the x-factor of the torpedo bats. Personal opinion is that those bats are a big deal and the psychological factor can’t be overstated.

The rest of the division is trash and won’t build too big of a lead on us. They just can’t let it snowball. It’s Murph’s biggest test as manager to date.

It wouldn’t seem so bleak if their big bats (Chourio, Yelich, Hoskins and Contreras) hadn’t collectively started the season 8 for 55 (.145) with 2 doubles, zero homeruns and 23 strike outs.

As they say: Put up or shut up. Knock the Brewers rotation if you will but throw out the starting 5 on another NL Central club that’s better top to bottom.

I would be happy to put up (or admit that I am wrong) if I could see in the crystal ball how the players who are currently injured and/or on the downside of their careers are going to perform this year,

But, evaluating the current value of a pitcher based on having been on the All Star team once in their careers (or twice in Woodruff's case) doesn't make sense to me when those appearances took place a few years ago (9 years ago in Quintana's case) and have been followed by subpar seasons or significant injuries.

I have a pretty good idea what to expect from Peralta based on his last two seasons. IMHO the other 5 you named come with big question marks. I wouldn't expect any of them to make an All Star team this year.

An article in the Athletic last week ranked the MLB rotations as of Opening Day, and they ranked the Brewers 22nd, behind the Pirates (11), Reds (18), and Cubs (21). Only the Cardinals were lower at 25.

It seems like a lot of things would have to go well for the Brewers to have the best rotation in the division, most notably Woodruff returning to something resembling his ace form of 2022..

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

FanGraphs Depth Charts ranks the NL Central rotations as...

#6 Reds (12.7 WAR)
#10 Pirates (12.2 WAR)

#18 Brewers (11.0 WAR)
#20 Cardinals (10.6 WAR)
#21 Cubs (10.5 WAR)

Somewhat interestingly the Brewers rotation finished #18 in MLB last year with 10.9 rWAR, almost exactly in line with their current projection.

Even after the abomination of games 2/3/4 I'd still take the over on the Brewers rotation notching 11.0 rWAR this year, but I wouldn't be as confident picking them to finish the season as the #1 NLC rotation.

Yeah, projections are interesting but not really lla definitive  way to declare who’s best based on what an algorithm thinks will happen.

Sure, Im taking Skenes over anyone on Milwaukee, probably Imanaga too. But the Brewers preferred SP over Abbott, Greene, Lodolo, Singer, and Nick Martinez in Cincinnati, the Brewers are certainly more proven. Is anybody taking Imanaga, Steele, Boyd, Taillon and Ben Brown over Milwaukee? I’m wouldn’t.

Yes. Obviously. 100%, wouldn't have to think twice.

And 18 in last 7…..

I am not in the camp of best overall starting staff in NLCentral including our injuries, especially if you consider Ashby/Hall/Woodruff cannot be expected to pitch 5 plus innings.  We are hanging on for dear life in April. Sp all hurt.

I also cringe at what the staff will look like in 2026.  However, Misiorowski/Myers/Priester could change my mind quickly.

Yet….we are loaded in minors and loaded with stars here….Chourio, Contreras, Yelich.  And plenty of young  supporting cast types. With upside in Turang, Mitchell, and Frelick.

Overall lack of talent?  Huh?  We are loaded. We are hurt, mainly with SP.  And they all should be back this season.
