Keep Brewers from stealing bases and play solid defense and they are not going to do much at the plate this season. Too many wet newspapers in the lineup.

I dislike Wily Adames leaving us for San Fransicko!

I dislike MLB even more by forcing us to give away an all-star -- though he is not playing like one this season.

I see Rob Manfred as a crooked hypocritical man who is so concerned about the integrity of baseball that he still has Pete Rose banned from MLB and his due rewards as a Hall-of-Famer, YET overlooks the integrity of the game by giving larger market teams a huge competitive advantage over smaller market teams.  What a joke!

Worth noting: Adames has zero all star selections. He is a good likable player sometimes confused for a great prayer. 

Adames turns 30 this year and is not likely to improve upon past performance. Joey Ortiz has higher WAR than Adames in 2025. (Less low?)

173 strikeouts last season and a .194 batting avg this season. The same people wanting him back this year would be complaining about him 4 of 5 games if he were on the Brewers in 2025.

I don’t think it is fair to force Adames to take less money and it is not reasonable to have a system whereby the Brewers believe it is reasonable to pay Adames $182 million. I also don’t think I like ‘franchise tags’ either.

I appreciate this topic is agree to disagree for many, though.

That is why a team salary cap is better than a franchise tag and more fair for all.  Salary caps leading to penalties that range from fines to more severe consequences like the forfeiture of draft picks or contract cancellations. Penalties are designed to ensure teams stay within budgetary limits and maintain fairness in the league.

MLB players (rightly) view salary caps as a means to restrict player salaries. It will be tough to achieve a cap during next collective bargaining agreement.
