Ace Yes, Jose Quintana has just become the third Brewers pitcher to win each of their first four starts with the team, joining Tom Candiotti(1983) and CC Sabathia(2008). Quintana accomplished this feat on April 27, 2025, after pitching against the Cardinals, scattering five hits and three walks.

Its amazing that if Quintana gets the win today... only 3 other Brewers started 4-0 in Brewers history.  Kind of crazy.

Just to be clear, that’s 4-0 in the pitcher’s first 4 starts in a Brewers uniform, not 4-0 to start the season.
ETA I see you clarified this as I was posting.

What you talkin bout Willis.  He is 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA this season.

What I was addressing was your comment that he is the third in Brewers history to start 4-0.

Yes, his record is 4-0, but I’m sure several other Brewers pitchers have started a season 4-0.

As you stated later, he’s the third to be 4-0 in his first 4 Brewers starts.

The thing about Quintana, if it was any other starter approaching 100 pitches in the 5th, it would be a litany of "C.mon, attack!!!! Throw strikes!!!", accusations of nibbling, and the feeling of impending doom w/all the baserunners allowed & deep counts. But with him, you've seen him do this nine thousand times before & you just trust the guy. It's amazing how he refuses to give in & finds a way. I thought StL actually put up some really good ABs against him, too. Today it came down to several times where he had to make a pitch, and made it just about every time.

It's scary when you watch Chourio every day & see how he's such a work in progress, yet leads the team in dingers & is driving in a little under one run per game. Such an impressive talent.

Well, 2-5 is a lot better than 1-6. Let's hope they can put a big series on the south side and salvage this thing. We'll face Bryce Wilson and Shane Smith, so hopefully we have some insider info or something.

Feels like we've treaded water through March/April. We haven't looked good, but we weathered some injuries and a good amount of bad baseball to be pretty much on pace with the teams we need to be on pace with. I think we've played a really tough schedule, though not as tough as the Cubs.

At times, I've thought we've looked like a stereotypical mediocre team. The optimist in me thinks the defense will figure it out and the offense will be alright. It's the bullpen I worry about. Could really use Yoho to emerge as a shut-down piece.

Yeah I wasn’t impressed with Quintana today but he managed to avoid big damage and the offense came through….and the defense finally looked like the defense we’ve been used to.

I’m glad we have Jose……but I don’t think he’s as good as his record right now.

With the key outs on the base paths & surprisingly poor defense this week (and the railing on Capras' nonexistent offense), despite all that this is a 4-3 road trip if not for back-to-back poor performances by Alexander. Ashby being out & Hudson earning a demotion---if just one of those two were 'right' it makes quite a difference. Hudson had a nice clean, quick inning in Nashville. Good sign.

Agree, Yoho could be key. And I would love to see a solid week of save opps for Megill, who's troubles might be due to the sporadic workload. And maybe Payamps figured things out this weekend.

I still think he's pretty good. No, not 4-0 with a 1-point-whatever ERA good. The biggest negative I see, is outings like today---fifteen, sixteen outs---may be the norm at this point in his career and we have a lot of starters doing that right now. At this rate by July the BP will be taxed more than a California homeowner.

Brewers are 3-4 in one run games so far.

Last year they were 7-2 at roughly the same time.

They are playing fewer games close this year and not winning many of them
