Jadyn Fielder leads off the sixth with a 105.3 MPH single. Had a ground rule double and stolen bag earlier in the game.

Fielder advances to third on a Frederi Montero single then scores on a wild pitch to make it 5-2.

Pedro Ibarguen follows with a 104.5 MPH triple but is stranded.

Walk off grounder. Lameda could not field it cleanly. Kannapolis scores. What a bad loss

The losing pitcher is Reyes who, could not find a strike

the winning pitcher was the starting 3rd baseman. I wonder how many position players wound up as a winning pitcher in a non extra innings game - as they usually pitch in blow outs (or extra inning games).

Enderson Mercado got the first two outs in the fourth inning, but an HBP-BB-1B sequence tied the game at two each before he bounced back to strike out the last batter of the frame.

Mercado finished with a solid 4 IP | 2 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 5 K.

Joshua Quezada followed and went 1-2-3 on eight pitches in the fifth.

Cesar Espinal was next going four up, three down (1 BB | 1 K) in the sixth.

See who gets the seventh.

Daurys Mora gets the 7th.

Opens the frame with a walk and wild pitch but bounces back with a K, lineout and another K to nail down the 5-2 Zona Crew win.

So here’s an oddity. Carlolina and Kannapolis split the two games today both 5-4, so 9-9 runs and teams are 1-1
Nashville wins 4–0 and Wisconsin loses 8-4 so 8-I in terms of runs and 1-1 record

ACL Brewers now hold tie breaker for W-L and run differential for the affiliates tonigth

ok totally random as Brewers win 5-2.

My gods. Before my very eyes. Pinch me! Hitting 101 mph late is absurdly tasty.

According to Baseball American his 102.3mph pitch in the first was the hardest pitch thrown by a starting pitcher in AAA or MLB this season.

Goodness. That is incredible.

I am just so dang happy for him. Such a wonderful young man to boot. Makes it all the sweeter.

Very clearly Yerlin is broken again. I am starting to come to terms with the distinct possibility I will never see him put it together for more than two consecutive outings in my lifetime. This makes me soooo sad, my people. When he is right he has MLB written all over his tools. When he is right opposing announcers are gushing. BUT, he's just oh so rarely right. I will now go to a dark cave in the distant hills to perform a wailing ritual.

Do we think the Brewers will protect him from the Rule 5 draft this offseason?

Disappointment on the major league side, but at least farm system is giving me smile. I mentioned that he might be better after his first start this season, but never could've think of this kind of progress.
Also some rare ACL statcast data in this thread.

Let’s put in a position player. Reyes had 9 pitches in the 7th and 8 balls.  Two on, no out 4-2 lead. Reyes is not sharp.  20 pitches only 7 strikes. Yikes

meanwhile TRats trying to rally. Wood 2-run double. 7-4 deficit

Was this some sort of tough love development for Anfernny Reyes?

Seems odd to let a guy go out there and walk 6 of 7 batters, losing the game, when you’ve got Vire, Langhorne and Bjorn relatively fresh.

I think Johnson probably will pitch a decent amount today. I'd expect him and DeBerry to potentially go 6+ innings. With Torres and Gillis set for likely shorter outings on Sunday due to pitching on 4 days rest, I'm guessing Carolina didn't want to burn another RP last night. Such is the way in the low minors where you're managing pitching workloads as much (if not more) as you're trying to win.

Not sure if it's already mentioned elsewhere, but here's part of the quote.

Jesus Made

Quote

While some of his whiff metrics are up with the jump to a full-season level, he’s still showing above-average bat-to-ball skills and swing decisions. His power however has also taken a nice step forward. After posting a 104.2 mph 90th percentile exit velocity in 2024, that number is up to 105.9 mph in 2025.

Luis Pena

Quote

In particular, he has shown the ability to hit the ball harder, as evidenced by a major leap in 90th percentile exit velocity. After posting a 99 mph 90th percentile EV in 2024, he’s up 106.5 mph this year—absolutely outstanding mark for a teenager.
...
Angles, however, are still an issue for Peña, as his swing path is linear and leads to more ground balls than you would like. This is the lingering question for Peña. He’s shown a substantial improvement in how hard he hits the ball but will need to find more loft to optimize it.

Yeah, 4 games in 3 days is tough. Even tougher when we’ve not replaced Timmerman or Holobetz, so the active roster is at 28. We got a bit lucky that Bryan Rivera got thru 5 innings in the first game of the day.

Well considering the Cannon Ballers put in their 3rd baseman I think it was we had two games today and still need get through the weekend let’s save some arms.
Just odd that 3rd basemen gets 4 outs against 6 or 7 hitters with eephus pitches and an occasional side arm, and Reyes gets only 1 batter out.
Not sure why Langhorqne was getting ready earlier. Could’ve just let Reyes lose it and save the arm I don’t know
