Well that didn't take long

I looked up the first game from last year to see if Made and Pena stood out right away…

Made 2/3 with a 2B and a HR

Pena 2/3 all singles.

I was just about to post the same. Amazing. I chortled and coughed some coffee. A fine moment.

I see the Gold just tied it up with the Orioles Black. Man, the Orioles Orange were a good DSL squad last season. They just took that division from the DSL Uno in those last two weeks.

'My Guy Frandy' with a two-run double today. You LOVE to see it. I look forward to him having a fully healthy season.

Frandy was probably the name I was most surprised not to see on the ACL roster this year.

Accirding to his player page he wears #69 so he presumably plays with a little spice (or is a fan of offensive line play in American Football)

Both box scores frozen with the Brewers up to bat in the 4th. In my experience, that means huge innings.

In stateside ball, absolutely. In DSL it can mean glitches or storms

Anyone else notice Rangel is listed as a catcher on the bench? DSL glitch or position change?

Kept forgetting to mention it, but he was posting video of him catching all winter on his IG, so it appears to be a real change.

Always intriguing to see lineup construction and pitching length in the early games as a sign of who the Brewers are high on.

Bravo going 5 innings with 7 K's in his second DSL stint is notable.

More so Carlos Doñe who missed all of 2024 with an injury hitting second behind Antuñez. He went 3-4 with a double and two stolen bases.

Colmenarez getting 5 innings under his belt but he is 19 now so perhaps more expectations there as a 2023 draftee

SS Leonard Rijo. January signee. 17-year-old Dominican. BA noted him for his clean defense:

Quote

Leonard Rijo, SS, Dominican Republic: Rijo is just 5-foot-7, but the 17-year-old shortstop is an advanced defender for his age. Signed for $175,000, Rijo has clean actions and good quickness in the infield, where he’s an instinctive defender with a nose for the ball. A righthanded hitter, Rijo is a defense-first shortstop whose size likely limits how much power he will develop.

2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB

Had him in the three-hole today. Very interesting.

Noticed that. With two of the three "big" signings being CF was curious who the other non-Acosta SS would be.

Listed at 5'7" 140lbs on his player page for whatever that is or isn't worth.

Knowing how those listed heights and weights go, he is potentially 6'2" 190 by now. 🫣

So, umm, could Carlos Done be another breakout from last year’s class after losing last season to injury.

Him and Made would be a funny combo for people who have only read the names (I assume it is “dough-neigh”).

Jesus made, Carlos done.

I’m not sure how useful lineups are after-the-fact, but here’s the relatively experienced DSL Brewers Blue squad which wiped the floor with DSL Rojos (Reds) in 7 innings at home:

1 - Brailyn Antunez (17 - Venezuela) - CF - 2025 signee
2 - Carlos Done (18 - D.R.) - RF - 2024 signee debuting today
3 - Leonard Rijo (17 - D.R.) - SS - 2025 signee
4 - Jefer Lista (17 - Venezuela) - 1B - 2025 signee
5 - Frandy Lafond (18 - D.R.) - LF - 2024 signee (.836 OPS)
6 - Yoneiker Lugo (18 - Venezuela) - C - 2024 signee (.779 OPS)
7 - Moises Polanco (18 - Venezuela) - 3B - 2024 signee (.779 OPS)
8 - Jhoanjel Saez (18 - Venezuela) - 2B - 2024 signee (.704 OPS)
9 - Kegnnalex Seijas
 (19 - Venezuela) - DH - mid-2023 signee (.555 OPS in 36 PAs)
X - Ayendy Bravo (18 - D.R.) - RHP - 2024 signee (2.38 ERA)

And here’s the lineup for the younger DSL Brewers Gold squad which was essentially one key play short of grabbing a win in 9 innings at DSL Orioles Black:

1 - Kenny Fenelon (17 - D.R.) - CF - 2025 signee
2 - Cristopher Acosta (17 - D.R.) - 2025 signee
3 - Isais Chavez
 (17 - Venezuela) - C - 2025 signee
4 - Eryks Rivero
 (17 - Venezuela) - DH - 2025 signee
5 - Juan Martinez
 (18 - Venezuela) - 3B - 2024 signee (.700 OPS)
6 - Francis Sosa (17 - D.R.) - RF - 2025 signee
7 - Matthew Moses (17 - Venezuela) - 1B - 2025 signee
8 - Nicolas Barrios
 (17 - Venezuela) - LF - 2025 signee
9 - Cristian Montilla
 (17 - Venezuela) - 2B - 2025 signee
X - Gabriel Colmenarez
 (19 - Venezuela) - RHP - 2023 signee (3.19 ERA)
