love this game thread title, Jim. Well done.

I use the Astrological calendar annually to inform my farming practices. I've done this for decades. Here's a brief share on the number 13:

Firstly, from a personal perspective, three and 13 are beautiful numbers. I definitely practice what is called 'triskaidekaphobia' because I avoid 12 like the plague 😅. The bad rep 13 receives is a silly overlay on society throughout the shifts and forced assimilations away from nomadic/animist/tribal/pagan living. Did you know we originally lived in a 13 month, 13 moon annual cycle? It's true. For millenia. No leap years. No Daylight Savings nonsense. No Julian or Gregorian grid. We lived with 28 day months. Why? Because that is the way the Earth exists and moves in the cosmos. Did you know we originally had 13 Zodiac (astrological/sidereal) signs in the heavens. Tis absolutely true. The missing sign is 'Ophiucus' or 'The Serpent Bearer' - on the sun's ecliptic it's a constellation between Scorpio and Sagittarius.

I stand with the number 13. I honor our history.

DSL Blue currently tied 4-4 in the ninth.

Offense has featured four doubles from Angel Gonzalez, Brailyn Antunez, Johanderson Tarazona, and Kegnnalex Seijas.

Sixteen year old Steven Duran opened the game with a perfect inning (1 K) in his debut outing.

Seventeen year old Merwin Manrique also made his debut and worked around a walk, single and HBP after two outs to retire the sixth man up and record the zero (1 K) in the 8th inning.

Is it me, or does the DSL seem really low scoring this year?

Maybe it was because of the juggernaut squad last year, but not a lot of 10-8 games, more 4-2 games in general with both DSL squads.

DSL run scoring coming into today was up from 5.26 last year to 5.64 this year.

DSL Gold has been low scoring this year at 3.63 R/G scored and 4.13 R/G allowed.

DSL Blue is at 7.38 R/G scored and 6.88 R/G allowed, so maybe you've just been keying in on the Gold games.

Wow I guess so. Maybe the crazy ACL games have thrown me off. 😉

I was away last week, so was not paying as close attention, and may have just caught the handful of game reports this week where there wasn't a lot of runs.

And also so spoiled from last year where the lineup was OPS > .800 top to bottom, now we only have like 2 or 3 in the lineup with those types of offensive numbers. Gonna be hard to beat last years DSL squads.

This week of minor leagues has really been a little more difficult with the wrong side of blow outs, or walk offs. Better things ahead, and I hope to be fully entertained tonight 🤞

After yesterday’s walk-off loss, AAA Nashville turns to RHP Logan Henderson (5 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 Ks last outing) to start digging out of a 3-0 series hole at Norfolk. 2B Ray Delgado comes in with a 10-game hitting streak.

Things are getting desperate for Low-A Carolina after dropping 7 of 8 games, but a win behind LHP Wande Torres (6.32 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 in 31.1 IP) at Lynchburg tonight would pull them back within 1 game of first place. Jesus Made is 3rd in runs (38), 5th in doubles (12) and 9th in SBs (24) in the Carolina League.

1 - Payne - CF
2 - Pena - SS
3 - Made - DH
4 - Di Turi - 3B
5 - Holguin - 1B
6 - T. Rodriguez - LF
7 - Walling - RF
8 - Lameda - 2B
9 - Walther - C
X - Torres - P

The High-A Timber Rattlers can take a 3-1 series lead at Great Lakes tonight behind LHP Anthony Flores, who’s coming off of his best start of 2025 (5.2 IP, 1 R (0 ER). 4 H, 1 BB, 7 Ks). 1B Blake Burke is 2nd in hits (68) and 4th in AVG (.318) in the Midwest League.

Logan Henderson surrendered three singles and a double in the first but it only added up to one run with a little help from himself (picking off a runner at 1st) and Eddie Rosario (gunning down a runner at home).

Sounds got the run back in the second when EMJ singled, advanced on a groundout, and scored on an Oliver Dunn RBI single.

There were 6 balls hit 97mph or harder against Henderson in those first 2 frames, but the Rosario assist and this Dunn single and EMJ slide have us tied 1-1.

Back-to-back 2-out doubles from Dinges and Hedbert put Wisconsin up 2-0 in the 1st inning, with the Great Lakes starter exiting after a 10-pitch Yhoswar walk and an injury delay.

Anthony Flores escapes a bases loaded (infield single, 2 walks), 1-out jam by inducing a 1-2-3 GIDP to likely end his day at 85 pitches thru 5 innings. Wisconsin 5, Great Lakes 2.

Luis Lameda exited after a line drive hit to him at 2nd base and subsequent injury delay in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Carolina now trails 6-2, down to their final 3 outs.

Jeez - I didn't realize that ACL Brewers basically have no bench, now that Tyler Black is back to AAA. Quintana and Encarnacion have not played since June 5, so Freider Rojas is the sole bench bat.

18-year old RHP Tyler Renz (2.16 ERA) gets the start at ACL Rockies. SS Demetrio Nadal is batting 8th.

All Flores did was stay in and retire the next 3 batters on 7 pitches in the 6th inning.

Yesterday, Nashville led 5-2 in the 8th inning and conceded 3 runs.

Today they lead 5-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning and RHP Blake Holub has conceded 2 singles to open the frame.

Both baserunners scored, so Nashville heads to the 9th inning leading 5-4.

Elvis Peguero closed out Nashville's 6-4 victory, despite 3 batters hitting balls >100mph against him. He finished it with a K swinging.
