NY Media gotta whine about something

I haven’t been able to watch any of the games but is Turner playing as bad as his stats are?  If he is then he is looking like another bad Bucks FA signing.

Only four games, but...

When Turner's been ON the floor the other team has averaged 108.2 points per 100 possessions, which would be the 5th best dRTG on the team leaderboard in the early going.

When Turner's been OFF the floor the other team has averaged 125.2 points per 100 possessions, which would be the 3rd worst dRTG on the team leaderboard in the early going.

Four games in seems a bit premature to call that... go look at KAT's stats from last night and see what Turner has brought so far (FYI, KAT averaged 25 pts/game vs the Bucks last year).  Turner's D has shown up... I suspect his offense will take some time finding his spacing around Giannis.

Yes it is only 4 games but the stats are concerning hence why I was asking if he has looked as bad as his stats were saying.

I've not seen a game yet either, but reports are his defense has been excellent.  Given how much Lopez has been a defensive liability for the last couple of years (i.e. drop defense on screens), even that upgrade is worth it.  I'm sure it will take him a bit to get into an offensive flow with Giannis.

Watch a clip of Lopez running the floor in transition and compare it to Turner in one of these games where he's scored 5 points and you'll still be glad he's here.

Is this supporting cast just a lot better than we figured on? Mostly everyone contributed. We all pretty much agreed Cole Anthony was a hell of a minimum signing. Ryan Rollins looks really legit.

KPJ might get Wally Pipp'd. Rollins is the real deal. A true two way player.

As someone who hasn’t the slightest idea of how NBA contracts are supposed to work I am happy to know we just signed him to a cheap 3 year deal.

Andre Jackson is probably more likely to be released.  Not really losing much by getting rid of him.

I hope so. It's early, but it's a REALLY fun team to watch. They play hard, aggressive and they can shoot it.

Kuzma is... difficult to watch and Turner hasn't really found his footing on offense, but he will.

But it's so nice seeing Rollins play. AJ Green also signed a contract that... I think is going to look really good the next 4 years.

Couldn't really ask for too much more than what we're getting right now.

Yeah they aren't releasing Porter but he may no longer be the starter.

Like many NBA contracts there is a player option after year two so cheap for this year and next

The biggest fear right now is that Rollins gets Doc'd when KPJ returns.

Well KPJ hurt himself in practice and is out another 4 weeks so we don't have to think about it for awhile

Looking at how Doc is using his PGs now, there would seem to be plenty of time for both Rollins and KPJ.... at the expense of Anthony.  Even if KPJ gets the start, having Rollins off the bench and getting starter minutes is a real option.  KPJ and Giannis worked really well together last year (though he and Rollins seem to have clicked too).

Both players are still pretty young and developing, so playing the hot hand for the night isn't a terrible idea either.

But long-term Rollin's 3pt shotting gives him a decent leg up on KPJ, IMO. Both PGs can take it to the rim, so that is a nice luxury to have when the offense stagnates.

I didn't see the game but I was glad to see the highlight of Giannis calling game to the classless Pacer fans.

17 min, but you get about 75% of all scoring plays:

The Buck's team is interesting this year with the balance in scoring.  Giannis is 30+ points and 5-6 other players run @ 10-15 points each.  A pretty natural way to run with the hot hand.

I would like to see Turner on the court more when Giannis is not, but that is challenging with Kuzma and Portis both playing in that Giannis-less space also. Turner ends up being another 3pt shooter which Giannis out there. Perhaps they can setup more plays for Turner to shake things up?

Man this A.J. Green extension is not looking so wise right now. Obviously early but his stunning lack of athleticism and intelligence really limit him. Constant foul trouble, terrible defense, one trick pony on offense. Those kind of guys are generally worth the minimum or not much over.

He won't be a lockdown defender and does struggle against bigger players, but he is getting positive reviews on his D overall.  The game I watched, he (and Rollins) were both getting dinged for every ticky-tack touch.  Needs to gain some respect.

And people shooting 49% from three don't make the minimum.

Well, I have watched every game, not just one. Some games the refs have been downright absurd, such as the one to which you are referring. Some games they have been officiating the game in a pretty standard way. Green has been absolutely putrid on defense this year, and has two fouls per first quarter on top of that, every game. He of course will not shoot 49% over an entire season. Taurean Prince shot 44% from 3 last year and is another one trick pony and he, indeed, makes the minimum.

The Bucks defense is 3.5 points per 100 possessions worse when Green is ON the floor (119.3) versus OFF the floor (115.8), but their offense is 13.7 points per 100 possessions better when Green is ON the floor (125.1) versus OFF the floor (111.4).

Add it all up and AJG's +10.2 ON/OFF is 2nd on the team behind only Giannis at +16.3 after the first ten games.

The guys who have been killing the Bucks so far in their minutes are Amir Coffey (-9.5) and especially Gary Trent Jr (-19.8).

Are we living in a world where Kuzma is becoming Bobby Portis part duex (slightly worse on 3s, greatly better on D)? AND outplaying Middleton?
