• 1969 Mets won 100 games and the World Series (the first expansion team to ever win a title)
• 1977 Royals won 102 games, lost the ALCS to the eventual champ Yankees
• 1978 Pirates went only 88-73 in what was a down year for them that decade (they would go on to win the WS the next season)

So to recap, 6 out of those 8 teams went to the postseason (I feel pretty good about the 2025 Brewers sharing this accomplishment), 5 out of the 8 were eliminated in the postseason by the eventual champion, 3 of the 8 made the World Series, and only one of those teams won it, because if being a Brewers fan (and fan of Wisconsin sports in general) has taught me anything, it is this:

The postseason sucks.

Wasn't their expansion year 1962, in which they lost 100 games? (Then, 8 seasons later, they won 100 games and the World Series in 1969.)

You are correct, I misread my notes. They were famously the first expansion team to win a title, they did not accomplish the feat in their inaugural season. I am amending my original post.
