Durbin is certainly the preferred starter & better player, but I really like Seigler too - especially his versatility defensively

I can appreciate the guy tries hard, but he's not a good defender.  His versatility is throwing the ball into the dugout or into right field.  Seigler and Mona singlehandedly cost us the game yesterday.

If he gets 2-3 starts a month, I can live with it, especially if he's working the count and trying to put up 7-8 pitch at-bats, but there is no platoon with him and Durbin.  The only reason he should ever be in there for Durbin is if Durbin is hurt or needs an occasional rest.

Defense is so important to this team, and yesterday shows why we need our best players on the field as much as possible.

Boo, Willy Adames!

Get out of town!

Yeah … I’m over his homecoming breakout

i don’t want him to ever get in base against the Brewers again

Was Lockridge known for good defense when we acquired him? Just doesn’t seem like he always gets great reads.

Perkins is a far superior defender

Lockridge has one super power - elite speed

Some really rough defense, but hard to say they cost us the game when we scored 1 run.

Murph clearly thinks Durbin's growth as a player will be enhanced by sticking with the soft platoon for the time being. I am as frustrated as anyone by Seigler's limitations, but I also understand Murphy's approach. We will see his management of the third base situation a lot differently if, come October, we are looking at a fresh Durbin who is getting back to hitting the ball the way he was in July.

I believe his versatility was expanded to include 3rd base in Nashville shortly before he joined the Brewers

With the Yankees, he played several positions & was known for versatility - including as a catcher …. & he seems to have a good eye at the plate

We agree that Durbin is the choice to start at 3B

I completely agree with this perspective

Not trying to argue.  I enjoy your posts.... I've just developed an irrational dislike for Seigler, not because of anything he does, but because sometimes Murphy doesn't treat him as he should (like the 26th man).

Losing sucks... and when some less endowed players cost you games, they probably get an unreasonable amount of scrutiny, but it is what it is.

Darn... that would have been a big run if Lockridge or Frelick could have come through there

This is true.  The margin for error is pretty small which magnifies the defensive miscues when they come.

Just leaving too many men on. In a 1 run game, gotta find a way to get that leadoff man on 2nd and nobody out across the plate.

I just get the impression that Durbin's confidence and rhythm gets undermined if he's not playing almost every day
