Patrick goes back down after today for Myers and then Gasser starts Friday and comes up in place of Grant Anderson. That would be my guess

Finding an injury for Anderson allowed for the Myers return and now they'll have Easton McGee around for low leverage innings until Friday when a starter is needed  again. Would presumably be Gasser unless another injury re-opens the door for Patrick

Can't imagine that the Brewers will be starting a not fully stretched out Robert Gasser pitching on 4 days rest two starts in a row while coming off TJ

Then they'd have to come up with another injury in order to re-summon Patrick, no? Perhaps the plan is to get around 4 innings out of Gasser and pair him with either Ashby or Myers come Friday?

They don't really need another starter. Only 3 of the remaining 8 games would require a starter to pitch on 4 days rest.

Woodruff, Misiorowski, Priester, Quintana, Peralta, Woodruff, Misiorowski, Priester then off day.

I'd certainly still call an extra starter a need. There is some clear fatigue and innings jump setting in for some of these guys. I could be wrong but I get the sense the Brewers want to give these guys 5 days between starts more often than not for awhile yet.

What starters are showing clear fatigue? Peralta and Quintana are seasoned vets. Priester is still 26 innings from hitting his career high. I'm not seeing clear fatigue from Misiorowski or Woodruff.

They've already talked about limiting Misiorowski and then the line drive off his leg helped slow his inning accumulation down. Woodruff they're trying to avoid pitching on 4 days rest. Priester has been much more shaky lately. And Peralta has been running up high pitch counts by the 5th inning. Just about everybody but Quintana sees a direct benefit from the extra rest.

Well I guess we will see. I'd put under 25% odds that the Brewers have a not fully stretched out Gasser make his season debut on Saturday while coming back from TJ surgery.

If things fall the right way and Tobias isn't needed on say Wed/Thurs he could just take the start on Friday.  I'd rather him out there for 4-5 innings than Gasser in first game back

Myers going 5 innings just isn't a realistic expectation. He hasn't made a full start since the 4th of July and since that start he's thrown more than 50 pitches just 1 time. He's not stretched out to go 4-5 innings anymore.

They can hold Mis until 8/29 and keep the others on the regular 4 days rest.

8/25 - Woodruff (5 days rest)
8/26 - Priester (4 days rest, pitched on 8/21)
8/27 - Quintana (4 days rest, pitched on 8/22)
8/28 - Peralta (4 days rest, pitched on 8/23)
8/29 - Mis/Myers piggyback
8/30 - Woodruff (4 days rest)
8/31 - Priester (4 days rest)
9/1 - Quintana (4 days rest), extra pitcher eligible to be called up
9/2 - (off)
9/3 - Peralta (5 days rest)
9/4 - Mis/Myers piggyback (5 days rest)
9/5 - Woody (5 days rest)
9/6 - Priester (5 days rest)
9/7 - Quintana (5 days rest)
9/8 - Peralta (4 days rest)
9/9 - Patrick eligible to be recalled

This way they only have to plan on two short starts for Mis and only one before they can recall an extra pitcher.

They could but Misiorowski is already the listed starter for tomorrow

Strike this. With Woodruff going 97 pitches today, I'd bet Gasser starts on Saturday to push Woodruff and Misiorowski to 5 days rest for the last two starts of the 19 in 18 run.

Gasser would be at  full 5 days rest so would make sense to start Saturday. Unfortunately has topped out at 64 pitches thus far so would be a short start. Tobias isn't stretched out anymore but still could eat 2-3 innings though if he doesn't pitch a bunch later this week. Shouldn't be difficult keeping Gasser on the roster either with the additional spot Monday.

One minute you have 9 SPs to choose from, the next you’re signing Erick Fedde in the heat of a playoff race

(That was completely tongue in cheek before anyone overreacts)
