We put up a pretty loaded lineup tonight  and they could not score as of yet against a pitcher with a 15 ERA over the last two weeks......this has to concern us.

Yep.  They've got a few games to try to break out.  Chourio is pressing but he's not that far from a break out imo.  No idea if any of the rest of these guys will hit again this year.

Are we 100% sure that the Brewers and Phillies actually want to win the #1 seed?

Not sure what the Phillies want, but I think the Brewers are mainly concerned with health and fatigue going into the postseason over anything else, now that they’ve clinched the bye. As they should.

I think they’d prefer the 1 over the 2, as they also should.

Yeah, that was supposed to be a joke, but your thoughts are pretty rational.  Unfortunately the Brewers probably need some pretty miraculous recoveries by the division series.

Yeah, it's not too promising. But we can hope they'll get hot in the next several days, I guess.

Yep, Marlins couldn’t hold it in the 10th. Onto the 11th.

I may as well pay attention to that one, it’s a hell of a lot more interesting than this one.

It’s about time to pull out the studies on whether a stumbling finish is a foreshadowing of an early playoff exit.

I remember people posting those in 2021 when the Brewers limped to the finish line. The conclusion was that there was no correlation between how a team finishes and how they perform in the postseason.

Of course the 2021 team kept limping.

Nobody limped into the playoffs more than than the 1982 brewers and they ended being one game away from winning the whole thing.

I think there a probably numerous points of data for or against      Personally the week off probably changes that

im probably one of the few who doesn’t care about these games this week

Since these gams don’t matter I would love to see Murphy put out our best lineup once.

in no particular order.     Yelich frelick Chourio collins.  Vaughn Contreras Turang Durbin montesario.    Just see what happens

I'm not too worried about these games. I'd like to see more quality ABs though.

Agreed on the ABs.  There are some.  Just my opinion but Chourio looks like he's on the verge of a positive regression.  But yeah, it'd be nice to see some more competitive ABs.

My guess was a once you get back home at the end of the week you will see better games.     Going out to the west coast for meaningless games is not a recipe for great baseball.    I don’t think people should worry about it so much.   Priester just needs to pitch without getting hurt tomorrow.    That’s all that matters

Zimmerman taking one for the team tonight.      Good for him

It's a big moment for him. I hope he keeps plugging and finds a role here or somewhere.

Eh. Last seasons’ Dodgers went 16-12 in September. Nothing special. Rangers were about .500 in 2023 in September.

Obviously the Brewers didn’t play well enough in 2021 in September, but I don’t know if that has anything to do with now.

They need the remaining pieces of their rotation to stay healthy. They need a few guys on offense to get hot and start swinging the bat better. They really need an effective bullpen.

I think those are the things that will matter, not so much what they did this month.

It’s not just September.

The Brewers have been very mediocre since the 14 game winning streak ended in mid August, especially against teams that were in playoff contention when the Brewers played them.

Why is Yelich leading off the last few games?

Why not Frelick or Turang?

I'm not concerned with the lack of timely hitting right now---obviously tonite (thru seven innings) the offense has been a snoozefest though---but I brought up this very thing recently. I thought they settled into Frelick leading off, Yelich 3rd & Turang 5th, which I liked. Rather than rant about it, I'd really love to hear an explanation from Murphy as to why he's lining it up this way because it makes little sense to me.

So basically 2 weeks before September.

Again, would you rather be hot, of course, but I don’t think the last 6 weeks is a bigger correlation of playoff performance than the overall body of work.

maybe i'm misremembering, but I feel like that offense sucked the entire year.

this O was thrilling to watch for like 3 months.  have to have faith they can find it again. the tools are still there

Little help from the Marlins tonight.  Much appreciated.

Magic number down to 2! I know it doesn’t feel like it, but this was equally as helpful as a Brewer win tonight. Nice unexpected surprise in a game that they looked destined to lose. Takes some sting off this stinker in San Diego.

The lack of information from the manager on stuff like this is incredible to me. Imagine Aaron Boone in NY changing the order and hitting Judge leadoff. He would have to have a press conference just for this.
