Most Chicago Bears backup quarterbacks have seemed popular over the years. The idea that life would be better with the other guy is universal.

I wouldn't know, they've had like 100 QBs last 10 years, right ??

So you went from "many", to just the Chicago Bears.

Do you think that's odd, is it subliminal ??

One thing I WOULD do if we face Snell again is let Jansen hit as DH. I know that seems a little wild, but use the extra righty bat. You can play Yelich in the OF (and sit Sal) or sit him and get him an AB or two later in the game.

Ahhhhh, Gary Sanchez returns!!!! I think he'd see virtually no FBs from Snell except off the plate, but it's not a bad idea. It would sort of fill the role Hoskins would fill, had me made the roster.

Jansen certainly seemed to get his stroke together late in the season. I'm just not sure Yelich is a go in the OF; not basing that on anything other than they could've easily flipped him with Chourio when his hammy was acting up & didn't.

They won’t do this, but I’d like:

1 -  CF Frelick
2 - RF Chourio
3 - LF Bauers
4 - C Contreras
5 - DH Yelich
6 - 1B Vaughn
7 - 3B Durbin
8 - 2B Turang
9 - SS Monasterio

I think I'd leave Ortiz in, but agree it's imperative to get Bauers in the lineup. He is beyond hot right now.

I know this is going to be a controversial question , but does Yelich absolutely have to start every day? Even against tough lefties? I like the Jansen idea against Snell.

AFA tonites' game is concerned:

Looking back to when we had the 2-0 lead in the last series. I think our lack of post-season savvy showed a little. From the way Priester came out in game 3, to the sudden dearth of runs after games 1 & 2, there seemed to be a little bit of an exhale after the terrific start to the series & we paid dearly the next two games.

Today, my biggest fear is an experienced, battle-tested bunch knowing they've already clinched, at minimum, a split going back home. They can now play w/o whatever tension they may have had in game one & come out loose. Smell blood. I know it's a bunch of cliches' but I really think Peralta needs to guard against early runs & come out hot.

Keep them off the scoreboard for the 1st 3-4 innings & I like our chances.

OK, I'll bite ............ you caught my interest,

Name just a few please

If you follow Badgers football, go back and read the game threads from the last two years when many fans were calling for them to put in a backup true freshman at QB because the starter wasn't doing well.

In the post-season, yeah, probably. But I hear ya. It's been my stance for a long time on here but I'll say it again: compared to the 'big bats' on other teams, when he's bad he's exceptionally bad. In (IIRC) his first AB yesterday when Snell K'd him, not only the swing decision on a pitch off the plate, but how much he missed it by, was just astounding.

One thing with Yelich though, it can turn in a hurry. At this point I think you have to hang your hat on that. Facing the RHP tonite that we handled last tine might be a shot in the arm.

Yeah I hope so. I’m not saying he’s definitely just not a postseason guy, but we’ve really never seen him be one, either.

I guess the "good" news is: If Yelich stinks for three more games, we're probably not going to have to worry about facing Snell again. And if he's good, you probably give him the ABs. So, maybe a moot point. It's just kind of part of the October deal to have one of your better (of late) and more powerful (in his career) RHBs locked out of the lineup because the other catcher is the most important player on the team.

If Yelich can play the OF.............

But like I said, I wonder if post-season we might hear something about how he couldn't go out there.🤷‍♂️

who is even realistically available to pitch tonight besides Peralta, Koenig, Myers, and Gasser?

I don’t see any reason to believe anyone is not available.

Maybe Uribe, but mostly because he was garbage last night to go with his 24 pitches.

Quintana, Uribe, Miz, Megill, Ashby… hell I’d say anyone but Priester.

It’s the NLCS. They’re all available if it comes down to it.

Ashby's been scuffling by his standards lately, possibly a sign of fatigue due to his heavy workload. I wouldn't feel great about throwing him out there again tonight for the third time in four days.

Megill is just recently coming back from an arm injury and this would also be his third time in four days.

Uribe with the high stress two innings against the Cubs the other night, and struggles last night. Wouldn't feel great about him tonight for the third time in four days.

You asked who is available, not who should pitch.

You are talking a lot of hypothetical potential downsides. None of which are worse than being down 2-0 to the Dodgers.

Gotta have tonight’s game.   Not impossible but highly unlikely they come back down 0-2.   But they win tonight then the series is ON.  Get both Bauers and Vaughn in the lineup.  Move Turang down.  Let’s go!

I know people are going to say, "Who cares about feelings, you have to put the best team out there," but I feel like benching the team's leader could be a big morale killer. Yes, I know the other response will be, "Him flailing at lefties is a bigger morale killer."

Don't like Turang in that 2 hole, just don't like it...

Yeah, for sure. This makes sense. It's not something I'd thought of. It would explain a lot of he can't be in the field for whatever reason.

Prioritizing offense for sure. We'll see how long they stay with Bauers in left. But this gives you flexibility and is probably your best offensive 9.

Last one from me until post game! Let's get this done!

So my question is this:

Who would you replace Yelich with if he were to get benched for a game?  It's not like we have anyone, ANYONE AT ALL, who is playing so well that we have to get them at bats.

Jansen maybe?

The cupboard is bare, really bare.
