• RHP Lyon Richardson signed to a minor league contract and assigned to ACL Brewers

Over the last 4 years in the Reds' system, the 26-year old Richardson (elected free agency on June 4 after being DFA'd on June 2) has 56.2 IP in the Majors and 175.0 IP in AAA ball.

Richardson has appeared in 41 big league games in his career. 2 this season. Still only 26. 2nd rd pick by the Reds in '18. Let Hook and Henderson get their hands on him and see what we can discover. Fastball runs 96. Throws his changeup more than anything else.

I'd imagine there's a flight to Arizona to follow shortly for Rijo (7-for-18, 1 HR, 5 BB, 2 Ks, 1 SB thru 6 DSL games in 2026, after a .618 OPS in 230 DSL PAs last year)

The Sounds have announced via press release that Richardson has been formally placed on the AAA Nashville roster.

• RHP Lonell Downs assigned to DSL Brewers Blue from DSL Brewers Gold

19-year old Downs had previously been tagged as being on the 7-day injured list, but that's now been deleted from his transaction log. He pitched for Blue last season (11 games, 7 starts) and DSL-Brewers2 the year before (11 games, 3 starts) and is now looking for his first action of 2026.

Rijo has already made it to the Brewers Arizona complex and so that move should be coming very soon as he is ready to join the ACL squad.
