Longtime Brewers’ minor leaguer Alexander Cornielle got the job done in Scranton (3.10 ERA with 74 Ks in 72.2 IP) and is now a Major Leaguer!:

This makes me happy. Excited for young Mr. Cornielle.

As noted within, former Mudcat and Timber Rattler Antoine Kelly was DFA’d by the Cubs. The lone MLB appearance for the 26-year-old was a scoreless 1.1 innings after his late July callup.

Sad to see Joey Wiemer’s 2026 campaign end the way it did: 0 walks and 25 Ks in his last 87 plate appearances in AAA, .209 AVG, .556 OPS in that stretch.

And that’s after he started the season as a Major Leaguer with a 1.087 OPS through 52 PAs. Crazy.

$147,500 signing bonus. Barely touched prospect lists. Traded 3 times. Playoff performer Tristan Peters.

Such a physical specimen. The size, the speed, the arm............and like you said, he was a house afire for Washington early on.

At 27, I'm sure there are more chances to come for him.

Craig Yoho had blow-ups in 2 of his last 3 outings, so was unsurprisingly left off of the Guardians’ ALDS roster:

Some ex-Brewers’ minor leaguers who ARE playing this postseason:

- Drew Rasmussen - Rays
- Freddy Peralta - Rays
- David Fry - Guardians
- Bryan Hudson - White Sox
- Tristan Peters - White Sox
- Mauricio Dubon - Braves
- Brent Suter - Braves
- Brewer Hicklen - Braves
- Trent Grisham - Yankees
- Josh Hader - Astros
- Jahmai Jones - Red Sox
- Caleb Durbin - Red Sox
- Andruw Monasterio - Red Sox
- Tyrone Taylor - Cubs

Erick Fedde (never actually a Brewers’ minor leaguer) is also playing for the White Sox, while Aaron Civale (only minor league rehab with Brewers) played for the Cubs.

Hader, Taylor and Civale are no longer in the playoffs. ;-)

Before France’s ball hit the ceiling and fell to Chourio for a key 9th inning out, Drew Rasmussen no-hitting the Yankees for 7.2 innings was the story of the day.

Rasmussen was a first round pick of the Rays in 2017, but didn’t sign. He then got injured and fell to the Brewers in the sixth round for $135k in 2018.

Drew tossed 61 innings for AA Biloxi in 2019, then made his MLB and playoff debuts with the Crew in 2020. He was the key piece in the Willy Adames trade in May 2021.

Now 31 years old, Rasmussen is set to earn $20 million (team option) in 2027, then become a free agent. I suspect he’s itching for a long-term deal with $100m (maybe a lot more) guaranteed, especially given past injuries.

Just as easily could have gone in our Fall League thread -

  • July 27, 2023    Pittsburgh Pirates traded 1B Carlos Santana to Milwaukee Brewers for SS Jhonny Severino.

The soon-to-be 22-year-old spent all of 2026 at High-A where he clubbed 31 home runs, playing primarily third base and left field, some first base, but with just a .308 OBP.

VIDEO from Tuesday 10/6: "Pirates No. 28 prospect Jhonny Severino lofts a first-inning homer 417 feet at 106.6 mph in the Arizona Fall League for Glendale"
