So far this Trey Smack looks like he’s going to have us begging for Anders Carlson back, and we don’t even know how he’s going to look under NFL game pressure yet. 

If this were the Brewers we would say “just wait til the pitching lab gets ahold of him.”

Safe to say that the Packers coaching staff and special teams staff in general doesn’t exactly inspire the same level of confidence.

Just a horrible time for your LS to get injured when you are working in a rookie kicker.  Kicking is very timing dependent, so it is hard to get in the rhythm.  Not saying it's all the LS issue, but hard to tell much right now.

McManus looked automatic in camp last year... we saw how that turned out, and how relevant kicking early in camp is to regular season performance.

Yeah, that's... suboptimal. 

I thought that was a big part of Carlson's struggles. He had a bad long snapper and a poor holder when he was here.

I'm disappointed that the Family Night has basically become watching practice but in Lambeau.  The thing that made it special was that it was more of a scrimmage than just drills.  

Honestly, it wouldn't' be terribly hard to organize your drills in a manner that looks much more like a scrimmage.  You already have the game scenarios... just organize teams and have more of a point system for the team that "wins" the drill.

I like the change.  I wonder how many coaches will get past the ego to do it however.  Wonder if they can have it kind of like baseball where you've got some guys able to watch replays and then relay down advice and that's all this guys job is to talk with those guys.

Hard for the Packers.  Now they will have to add at least 3 more high paying jobs.  #1 - Sideline Instant Replay Specialist.  #2 - Instant Replay Coordinator.  #3 - Instant Replay QC.  As the smallest market team in football, without a billion dollar owner that can just sell off part of the team for a quick cashflow that would be north of 100 million, I see this as potentially putting the Packers at a huge competitive disadvantage.  Policy will really have to do his job and find more streams of revenue in order to keep the franchise afloat.

Upgrading either one would be an improvement....just by the definition of the word.  Can we upgrade Love, Kraft, and Parsons too?  😏

I take it that you are trying to ask... which is holding us back more - personnel or development & play calling.  

I tend to think that Love and our offense would be better off if we were more aggressive and didn't run quite so much.  So I'd say MLF.

Good response. I really don't know which one would make the bigger impact. 

I personally would like to see them both replaced but I know that's not going to happen for a while.

It's not Gutey's fault that their first round pick last year barely saw the field, and when he did, it was for end arounds.

Sorry, but this is just a bad hot take. 

The first half of the year (with Watson and Reed out), Golden had many, many routes run.  Somewhere I read a metric showing how open WRs were on routes and compared it to Doubs.  Doubs was far more covered, but Love still went to him far more often.  Then Golden got hurt... when he was healthy, Reed and Watson were back and his routes decreased. 

It was pretty obvious that Golden and Williams were both drafted with 2026 (post Doubs and Wicks). Not that they weren't meant to contribute in 2025, but it was a pretty clear indication Doubs was not coming back in FA.

I think both Gute and MLF are in the top third of the league for their roles.  There are mistakes both have made, but I don't think people realize how hard their jobs are (especially in the heat of a game) or that there aren't too many people that would really be an upgrade. 

Between Love and MLF, I vacillate on who is the one holding the other back... Early in his career, it was clearly Love making poor on the field decisions yet people attributed it to MLF. Love has improved, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve part of the blame. 

But for the love of Lambeau... MLF give up the challenge flag to someone else!

This game sort of snuck up on me, I still have the old mindset that preseason games are always on Saturday. It's good to hear starters will play some, MLF is a slow learner but he has figured out sitting everyone all preseason adds up to an ugly week 1. Very interested to see Lloyd and Cisse who have both looked good from reports. I am just catching up on camp news but sounds like Monk is pushing Belton at RG, hopefully that is because Monk has stepped up and not because Belton coasting. We could sure use the OL depth.

Sounds like a little of both.  Belton not being consistent and Monk improving.  Honestly, I would've put money down that Monk wasn't going to make the team this year and he is challenging for a starting spot.  Pretty surprising after 2 years of nothing. 

I'd still bet on Belton being the starter.... I'm guessing they are lighting a fire under his butt and making sure he knows they aren't just giving him the job.

I sure hope he can stay healthy this year. I loved the pick when he was drafted but can literally not stay healthy. Add in the uncertainty of Jacobs and this could be a crucial year for him.

Every time he gets tackled it feels like watching a glass vase fall off a table and hope it doesn't shatter.
