In all seriousness, while I do think MLF is not a leader and should be replaced, I’ll stop short of saying he can never win the Super Bowl. If they just happened to get hot and healthy at the right time and could overcome whatever buffoonery he’s up to in the playoffs, it’s not impossible. I don’t think many of us would accuse Mike McCarthy of being the football genius who orchestrated the run of 2010-11.

Also we didn’t do anything at RB and the more that comes out, we should probably cut Josh Jacobs. Better hope Lloyd is legit and stays healthy.

Yeah, I've given up on him. He's in year eight and he's still talking about finishing. Year ****** eight. The stars would have to align just right to overcome his ineptitude to win a championship. He's hit his ceiling as a head coach.

Its not Domestic Violence in the eyes of the law because they weren't living together or had children together. Don't get me wrong though. Its Domestic Violence. That is a recommended 6 game suspension. The NFL can definitely give him that as their own entity.  I think he should be gone. Not even taking the act into account its a massive distraction to the team. Sign Trey Benson or whoever and move on. His cap hit isn't that bad also. 

To be fair, he is innocent until proven guilty obviously but its on video, so there's that. 

Also, with cutdown day occurring on Sunday evening, I assume they will get Infront of this and do something. Going into week 1 on the road with Lyold, Brooks and Strong would be tough, but an awesome opportunity for Marshawn if he can stay healthy.

They would have to play well enough in every playoff game to the point his decision making is a nonfactor. That rarely happens in the modern NFL. If they lose a lead in the 4th, he has to make a decision on 4th and short, etc., he's toast. Any kind of adversity, forget about it.

I guess I'm indifferent. Not having a real idea as to what actually transpired in his house plays a role in that, but I guess I stopped caring about "character guys" a really long time ago and just assumed there are dirtbags on every team I root for. My only real interest is in winning the championship and I don't see that happening without what Jacobs brings to the table. No-names emerge every day and play major roles on winning teams. Just seems that when he's going, they are a completely different offense. Always knew "Packer People" was a bunch of nonsense, so I couldn't care less about any of that.

I don’t care about the whole “Packer people” thing but when your transgressions are caught on video, that’s always a little bit of a different situation,

If the video indeed is made public and is as bad as described, it is hard to come back from that.

I'd rather take my chances with no names than have to root for a guy who beats women. There are plenty of transgressions I can overlook but that isn't one of them.

My sister used to work for a police department in the Fox Valley.  She said that domestic violence/disturbance calls skyrocketed on days where the Packers lost.

There is definitely a segment of Packers fans (not saying that it's anyone on this board) for whom it would be real hypocritical to say to cut Jacobs.

If the video is that bad, someone should ask the DA what happened to the strangulation and suffocation felony charge?  Why were four other charges reduced to two misdemeanors?  If she really got beat up so badly, why is it a misdemeanor battery charge, and not a felony substantial battery charge?

Maybe he beat the hell out of her?  Maybe it was two adults with an average IQ of 75 wrestling over a cell phone, and in the end she took a tumble and that's why he gets charged and she didn't get charged?  Who knows at this point?  But one thing is for certain, if it's bad, this video will get played over and over and over and over when it's released and the DA will have set himself up for massive public outcry and potential job loss.  The fact that it ended up as two misdemeanor charges says something.

I have to agree, if someone is really concerned about character, it's hard to believe they would pick the NFL as something to watch.  Not only are an inordinate amount of players real scumbags (and I can guarantee you it's more than 1 or 2 per team), but the owners are no better with their raiding of taxpayer coffers and partnering with exploitative businesses.  There is a reason I stopped watching their product years ago.

Plus its going to be a season long distraction. James Connor is 3rd on the Cards depth chart and had 1000 yard seasons in 23 and 24. Seems like a better short term choice.

Yeah I have to do some soul searching every time this happens. I wish I could quit football but there are 70+ other guys on the team that didnt do anything wrong and the majority of them are stand up dudes. It just takes the shine off the good stuff. I don't know where my ultimate line in the sand would be but it exists. I'll know when I know.

I don’t know where you would even draw the line. 

If I’m going to quit football then I need to quit baseball and basketball too as you alluded to. 

Did anyone stop going to the movies when they found out that Harvey Weinstein is a dirtbag and there are undoubtedly other dirtbags out in Hollywood that we don’t even know about?

My kids are very into WWE so I get into it with them and I’m well aware that the whole McMahon family is pretty gross and TKO is in my mind about the most morally bankrupt company out there.

At some point I think you just have to be entertained by what you’re entertained by and accept that there’s detestable people in every entertainment industry out there.

I guess I don't see why something they did criminally should mean they get cut. That's what prison is for, and if they go, then sure, yeah they get cut. I completely understand anyone preferring he get cut, I just don't have a line there, I guess. I wouldn't be sympathetic if the Packers decided that's their personal line, but it's not my company so I couldn't really care less.

Statistically it really isn't that much different from society as a whole, it's just that it's becomes a lot higher profile when pro athletes are involved.

And what pro athletes do isn't really any more stupid than what society does.  See my post above about what happens when the Packers lose.

Sort of how I've felt about the whole thing. I have my own pure speculation as to what I think the situation resembled. I think the other party was likely far more aggressive than has been let on, likely invaded his space, and he overreacted and is obviously much bigger and stronger and can't do that. I don't know how he gets misdemeanors if he wasn't reacting to something, but we might all know the facts eventually.

DA's aren't going to pursue any charges that they don't think they have at least a 95% chance of convicting on.

If they don't think they have a really strong case, they won't pursue a charge because it's a waste of time and taxpayer dollars, it affects the reputation of the DA and potentially future cases, and it could put them at risk for a defamation suit if there isn't strong evidence.

DA’s overcharge cases all the time that they don’t think they have a great chance of getting a conviction on, certainly not 95%. Often as a leverage tactic to plea bargain down to something less.

Some rogue ones who have an agenda might (see: Mike Wilfong), and those are the ones you hear about in the news, which gives you that perception.

But those are the exception, not the norm.  Ask some DA's.

I mean I see countless examples of that and was one. In 2010 I left a bachelor party in Dane County and feeling like I wasn’t intoxicated, stupidly attempted to drive back to my hotel. 

To the surprise of the cops when they took my BAC, it only came back at .06. Still, they charged me with DUI.

My first court date I plead not guilty and they quickly after offered to reduce it to a reckless driving knowing they did not have a very strong case, and they (correctly) assumed that I’d just take the deal and pay the $390 fine and keep my license rather than pay thousands to roll the dice. 

I also know of several people personally who were charged with felonies initially just to have them reduced to misdemeanors later.
