Would love to know why we continue to play our corners so far off the line and then have them retreat at the snap on top of it.  Okay, you're afraid of getting beat but letting QBs complete easy 10 yard passes all the way down the field isn't a better strategy.

Tressel is a poor DC.

Same old Badgers, no difference than last year,

Hopefully the inevitable house cleaning at the end of the season brings some hope for the future.

Really does take me back to last year.

who knows...maybe without the turnovers it's a different game  but Fickells game management still sucks.

Without lucking into 1st round draft picks from nowhere and not having Freeman and Denbrook as coordinators he has been exposed as a poor coach.

They're not a good team. Again. Fickell will be fired midway through this year (hopefully).

Too bad they're going to piss away another year first.

Fewer people care because college football is a mess and a joke.

If the season proves that Notre Dame (and Carr) is as good as the pundits say then there are things to build on, and it was no surprise that the superior depth & strength won out after halftime. ND found some things in the secondary to expose, but really it wasn't much more than their offensive line being "persuaded" to take control of a UW defensive front that isn't at the level of the LBs & secondary.

Joseph is clearly an improvement over the last handful of years at QB & it's not particularly close. But at this level he'll need more help than this O-line can give him, at least than they gave him today. MAYBE if Mandell makes it back & is truly healthy it can make a difference down the road. Again, if the 'experts' are correct this is the best team on their sked (although you still have to match the physicality of a PSU or Iowa for 4 quarters).

I thought Sama ran the ball fairly well but again, if the guys up front don't get better as the season unfolds he'll take a healthy beating & it'll wear on him after several weeks. And the receivers collectively had some pretty sticky hands on some balls that in the past would be dropped.

IMO both kickers were pretty good to very good.

With the new AD, I think the chances of him getting canned are pretty high. But to get canned in-season is something else. Looking at the sked, after Penn State you have MSU, UCLA & USC with 2 of those 3 at home. Cratering during that stretch after what should be a 2-2 record going into it just might do it.

Yeah, for awhile now he's been viewed as someone who's only as good as the guys surrounding him. And the merry-go-round AFA assistants are concerned since he's been here has been painful to watch. When you compare it to the job Alvarez did of assembling a staff.......night & day.

I actually thought Jeff Grimes' gameplan & calls today weren't bad, considering the mismatch up front.

Will be interesting to see what Fickells next gig is.

Yeah, I rarely watch college sports now because the NIL/portal has ruined it completely and I didn't watch this game either (TBH I didn't even realize there was a game tonight but not that I would've watched had I known) but UW really screwed the pooch with the Fickell hire. I was in favor of getting rid of Chryst and his antiquated style of football, but Fickell may go down as the worst head coach in this program's history, and that's saying a lot considering the pre-Alvarez years.

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.

This program is dead in the water until there's massive reform in college football.

There's a lot of bickering about Fickell but I really don't think anyone would have UW cruising in this environment. They were not financially positioned to compete and it shows. The truth is they've been in a decline since Bielema left. They got by for a little bit on old recruiting/image from years of winning but once there were a few hiccups things really went South, and the in-state talent pool seems to have fallen off a cliff.

NIL money doesn't guarantee success (PSU) nor does an average amount mean you will suck (Iowa).
