That's funny. I didn't like Payne's swing last season but I love it this season - it's consistent and repeating with what might actually be an ascending and unknown floor and  ceiling. Last year he lost his swing post-injury and then on multiple occasions the tweaks and timing got all out of sorts - it  gave me EBJ concerns. BUT, the youth was on his side and the make up and quality of person is just as solid as it comes. I think we are just scratching the surface. I encourage you to get more excited.😅

Payne has been showing this talent from the beginning. He’s just had growing pains, interspersed with injuries last year. I’ve had him as a top five or six prospect in the system all along. I don’t normally boast about these things, mainly because I’m rarely right about them, but he has a package of skills at a very young age that could really take him to the heights.

The previous pitcher (Flores) was all over the place, and on at least two occasions a member of the training staff came out to check on a possible injury. He said he was OK, continued, kept falling behind hitters, then was finally removed with the 1-1 count after walking three. Injured? Or just allergic to the strike zone? 

Anyway yeah, Fowler was very impressive.

I don't know what's going on, so far he's got BABIP'd heavily, which I tend to believe that the bad luck will fade eventually. The ingredient is there and he could easily be a candidate for second half AAA promotion. (39.3 Whiff% / 26.5 K-BB% against lefties；32.3 Whiff% / 30.2 K-BB% against righties)
