RHP Jason Woodward’s Tuesday outing was cut short due to weather (0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K). Now he can help cap off a 5-1 series win for High-A Wisconsin at Fort Wayne. 3B Andrew Fischer (.939 OPS in 76 PAs) has a 7-game hitting streak.

RHP Brett Wichrowski won Tuesday’s game in relief (4.2 IP, 3 R, 5 Ks) and AA Biloxi needs a win today to capture their home series against Rocket City 4-2. 1B Blake Burke has a 20-game on-base streak and has doubled in 5 of his last 7 games.

After throwing 29 pitches in Wednesday’s contest, RHP Quinn Priester makes his 2nd rehab start, as AAA Nashville needs a win at Charlotte to salvage a 4-3 series defeat. DH Eddys Leonard has a 9-game hitting streak, with 3 homers and 6 RBIs in his last 2 games.

Braylon Payne is on some kind of heater. Sheesh.

RHP Miqueas Mercedes makes his 2nd start of the week (3 IP, 0 R, 6 Ks on Tuesday), as Low-W Warbirds hope to end their series in Delmarva on a good note. CF Jose Anderson leads the Carolina League with 19 RBIs in 19 games.

I'll be honest I'm really concerned about Priester. Topping out at 92.0mph with command like this does not seem like a guy who will be ready any time soon.

Cooper Pratt seems to be figuring it out:
- 99mph line drive single
- 100.3mph 3-run homer
- 102.4mph groundout

who had Lara/Leonard, Burke, Payne and Anderson as the HR leaders for each MILB club at this time? That's quite an interesting Bingo card right there.  😉

I haven't seen many of his ABs----either he isn't in the lineup or he isn't hitting when I duck in---but I've noticed his BB/K ratio is around 50-50 which is very solid. So I'm thinking or at least hoping the quality of his trips to the plate surpasses the raw numbers.

C Ramón Rodríguez is doing above and beyond what you could hope for from a veteran back-up Catcher. He continues to be one of the most unheralded plus players in the system. Hit his first dinger today in a 2-for-3 line so far. Hitting  0.356 with a 0.930 OPS in 50 PA's (11 K:5 BB) just speaks to the quality of player I witnessed pre-injury for a season plus.

Lara breaks his record for home runs in a season and we haven't hit the month of May yet.

1 1/3 IP. 4 more free passes for Birchard. No K's. No runs scored either. He is like our pitching Mitchell! Scratch that first K to complete his second frame of scoreless work. The man is such a beautiful conundrum.

Matt Wood just thwarted a 1st and 3rd double steal (2-6-2 out at home) to end one frame, hit a 3-run homer for Biloxi’s first lead (8-6) in the bottom half of that inning, then got a strike ‘em out / throw ‘em out at 2nd base to end the next frame.

All in just a few minutes. Awesome.

ok a rare full organizational sweep. that definitely ended my weekend on a high note.

I know @Terry will get us the data on the pitchers and hitters, but some observations from the boxscores:

Pratt-Lara-Jett go a combined 5-12 with 2HR, 4 RBI and 0 K between them

ANd Logan Henderson has a solid 5 IP today, with 9K, 1 BB, 5 H and 1 ER. Very solid work!

Come from behind effort in Biloxi, with Wood with the go head HR, and Burke still hitting. And Darrien Miller with the 0-0 with 3 HBP. 3HBP in 3 PA in one game, although he was replaced by a PR, so hopefully he is OK and hopefully just precautionary with 3 HBP. That's insane.

Birchard also with solid effort in a piggyback relief, but so Birchard-esque: 1H, 5BB, 2K.

Payne and Dinges doing the damage for WIsconsin, as Fischer was the only T-Rat to not get on base (0-5 with 3K). Woodward with 32 pitches as he builds back up, and Travis Smith solid in the piggyback relief today pitching to contact with no walks or Ks.

Wilson with a rare 12 hit effort today, led by Ortuno, Encarnacio, DiTui and Montero all with multihit games and accounting for 10 hits, and 4 of 6 runs scored. Miqueas Mercedes had a nice start as well.

That might be more balls hit 99 mph than Ortiz has all year. Hopefully he can het hot and be an option for the bigs in a couple weeks or so.

This early season homerun binge by Payne and Lara is probably one of the biggest surprises so far.

What i find amazing is how the ball jumps of their bats this year. Payne doesn't look balanced on his HR's and Lara seems to hit balls that look like deeper floats that are 20 feet further than I expect.
