The biggest mystery in the Padres lineup is Tatis with an OPS in the .600s and no home runs. He is due to break out but hopefully not this week.

I have him on a fantasy team and have him on the bench, even though he is now also qualified at 2B. Ozzie Albies has been much more productive. Maybe I should put Tatis in the lineup tonight to guarantee an O-fer.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

It's Crap in my Lap night?  Never been to one of these, but I can't imagine how many accidents have to be cleaned up throughout the night.  I suppose it's worth it though - no one appreciates the finer points of a baseball game quite like a dog.

I would like to see Vaughn in the lineup with Bauers at least occasionally against RHP.

The bottom four of Mitchell, Frelick, Hamilton, and Ortiz is pretty uninspiring, and getting Vaughn in there would make it look a little better.

I imagine you will see Bauers or Yelich in LF so Vaughn can play against some RHP. Probably not worth it today with Sproat on the mound. Might need to value the defense but with Misiorowski or Harrison on the mound you could probably go a bit lighter on the D

We know Bauers has .874 OPS against RHP this season and .536 OPS against LHP.

Vaughn hits LHP way better than Bauers.
Bauers can reasonably be expected to hit better against RHP today.

Bauers can play the outfield. We have plenty of unproductive ab out there currently.

He sure can. And Mitchell & Frelick can play it better. And there are people on the roster who are better CFs than Chourio. What that all means is that you'll probably see Bauers in the OF some, but it weakens you defensively, most likely at two spots. And anyone who's followed this team knows they're reluctant to do that, and that reluctance usually pays off. @wiguy94said it best. On paper this isn't the best day to do it.

I had to look it up. In 1959 Pirates' reliever Elroy Face won 18 games while also finding the time to save ten. Apparently his arm didn't fall off as he lasted until 1969 with the expansion Montreal Expos.

And he died last week.  I'm not sure what that means but there it is.

Perhaps today isn't but we should keep a close eye on who you see in the outfield more from here on out Bauers or Perkins. My money is on Perkins.

Possibly. We'll see.

BTW, check out Perkins' numbers vs LHP this season. I think you'll be surprised. If he plays a lot vs RHP no, that wouldn't be a good idea.

Yeah, c'mon, we don't need dogs at ballgames.

I get it, to some people, they are like family members, more-so than some people family members, but really, we need them at baseball games?

I have a bull terrier and I couldn't imagine taking her to the ball park. "Lemme meet everyone!" to "drag me around, I don't feel like walking".

I’m officially re-enrolling in the Joey Ortiz fan club. I have more confidence in him than I do in a few others on the roster with poor batting averages. If he can become adequate at the plate, I love this team’s chances.
