I'm actually fine with this. That was bush league by Abner. Embarrassing to the team & MLB. Sitting for a game seems like a nice lesson/ attention getter.

(I recognize that some will see this stance as an old man yelling to get off my lawn.)

I think the suspension is pretty insane. I did not like what Uribe did but PCA only got fined for telling a female fan "suck my ******* dick *****" and Uribe is getting a suspension for gesturing at an opposing dugout? That feels like an insane standard to set. A fine seemed entirely reasonable to me.

Emotion has gotten the best of Milwaukee Brewers reliever Abner Uribe before. Now, he is paying a small price for a move he made following an inning-ending strikeout.

Uribe was suspended by MLB for one game for his wrestling-style crotch-grabbing move toward the St. Louis Cardinals' dugout following Tuesday's 6-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Uribe made the gesture following his strikeout of Alec Burleson. Uribe is appealing the penalty, which allows him to play until it is heard by MLB.

Following the game, Uribe, after a dugout scolding by Brewers manager Pat Murphy, apologized to the team, but leveled accusations at Cardinals manager Oli Marmol. Marmol and the Brewers addressed further issues the next day that apparently led to Uribe's action.

Uribe has alternated with right-hander Trevor Megill as the Brewers' closer and eighth-inning guy. Uribe has appeared in 21 games, with a 4.19 ERA over 19⅓ innings, walking eight and striking out 21. He has converted five of seven save opportunities, while Megill has six saves in seven chances.

honestly a suspension seems harsh. So PCA can tell say something derogatory and awful to a white sox fan and thats fine, but a hand gesture is worthy of 1 game. Make that make sense.

So Abner makes an inappropriate gesture and gets a game, PCA literally speaks the same gesture to an actual fan and gets nothing?

Burn him for 2 innings tonight where he wouldn’t go tomorrow anyway and then drop the appeal.

Perhaps a random dude could go up to Marmol and poke him in the ribs?

Learn from it and move on.

Perhaps a fan effort to safely toss a bunch of Tickle Me Elmo's onto the field?

PCAA got away with it, sure.

But Abner's incident is a separate issue, not related to PCA.

I'm fine with the one game suspension.  Sit for a game, learn a lesson, and hopefully he grows up a little in the process.

Appealing a one game suspension for a relief pitcher is stupid.

Sit your game, learn a lesson, and move on.

All an appeal really does is draw even more attention to what he did.  Just let it go...

The point of appealing is you appeal then drop the appeal on a day you know you're not going to use him. Do you think they win the game last night if Uribe didn't appeal and was unavailable serving his suspension?
