That's actually all the more reason to use them for trade bait.

Completely disagree. You get the homegrown star, you have long term control. For a small market team, control is crucial.

Look again - all the games today are on NBCSN on YTTV

I have it on.  Do you want me to send you a picture of my TV?

But realistically only one or two (or none) will ultimately have what it takes to be successful at the highest level. If we keep them all, our odds are better at finding the next home grown all star (s).

Okay, but I mean we literally don’t have the 40 man roster space to keep all of them. The top guys we can keep, but some of the ones outside the top 100 that will be rule 5 eligible might be used as trade bait,

Could you imagine being against the Sabathia trade because Matt LaPorta was the next big thing?

How good were we in those days? How long did we have control of CC?

I loved CC on our team!

Good point.

I get your main point, though. You don’t want to see the Mades, the Penas, the Fischers and Adamczewskis, etc, used as trade bait, you want to see them get the shot to have long careers here because it’s a numbers game and we have to anticipate that not all of them will be what we hope.

Which is obviously very true and defensible.

You were looking in the wrong spot, they created multiple NBC Sports Extra channels on YTTV, one for every game today.

I don’t know what to think of Fischer. Another home run today. That K rate is insane. So is that power.

Why is that?

Because they have used so much of the bullpen trying to pull this one out and in the other games of this series.

When you have starters who have trouble going 5 innings, and an offense that is struggling to score more than 3 runs in a game the bullpen gets overused.

The options in the bullpen tomorrow will be limited and they have to keep an eye on covering two games on Tuesday. They could really use an offensive outburst, but those have been few and far between for the last few weeks.

You should think that he has potential but would probably be eaten alive by major league pitching at this stage of his career. See what he does in the next 2-3 years.

Think Pedro Cerrano

I loved CC on our team!

We gave up four prospects to get CC and Michael Brantley is the only one of them that went on to have a respectable major league career. I just don't think the risk is very high to make these trades to make a run at a championship. Go grab Skubal. An average hitting SS or 3B would not cost that much. If we do that, then I'll get excited about the postseason.

Good win another series win. Baseball seasons are grueling and you have to just keep grinding it which we are I full expect us to win the series against the cardinals

Pretty unbelievable to win a series where your SP went 2.2, 3.2, 4.0 innings giving up 7 runs and you only scored 9 runs in "regulation"

Is there a certain point where you can strike out 40 percent of the time and it’s acceptable for a starter in MLB if the rest of the hit tool is that good?

Like if Fischer hit 50 bombs a year and had a .950 OPS but struck out 40% of his ABs, you would just kind of have to learn to live with that, right?

I know Sproat didn't pitch well today and the team really needed him to go more than 4 innings but I came away feeling pretty good about him. I mean we saw this version of Sproat earlier this year at the start of the season where he didn't have it and would just completely implode and give up a bunch of runs. The fact he was able to grind it out and only give up 1 run was a real sign of growth for me. Feel like his mental fortitude has come a long way from where it was to start the season.
