Luis Arraez and move Turang to 3B?

What would you think about getting Arraez (FA after 2026) and moving Turang to 3B for the remainder of the season? 

It wouldn't be a permanent move, but would drastically improve our 3B hole right now. Sometimes you just have to be creative...

Ortiz for Skubal, who says no? Although the Tigers would have to throw in Mize to make it work.

It is a little ironic that Joey actually started looking like the same guy offensively he was in 2024 (as the predominant 3B) as soon as he was moved off of SS this season. Probably just a coincidence ...

I don't think Turang has the arm strength for 3B.

Arraez doesn't fit the batting profile of a guy we would target. If you're going to be slow and have a poor walk rate, you better hit for power. And he doesn't at all. We have enough guys who can slap the ball around already. 

The guy is having a heck of a year though, he's a true enigma in the 3TO era that we live in.

I'd prefer a bat with more power especially if it's going to hurt us defensively.

Yeah, that's hard not to notice. It's highly doubtful they actually go trade for even a moderate hit for average with some power type upgrade at 3B (like a Brooks Lee), so let's hope Joey gets back to that .240-ish 12 HR type 3B.

Arraez would be a round hole, square peg fit for MIL, but a really good contact hitting square peg. Had they not brought up / committed to Pratt, I suppose they could have tried pushing Turang to SS, Ortiz to 3B to make room for Arraez at 2B. That would be disrupting a lot of comfort zones, routines, familiarity though at this point.

i think you can trace the slump back to when the Pratt signing winds started. Then you have Ortiz looking over his shoulder and wondering if/when he loses his job. And where does he go if that happens?

it wasn’t clear who of Ortiz/rengifro/hamilton would be the odd man out or who gets the start at third.

Ortiz gets the platoon and gets to build up confidence vs lefties. Next it’s back to full time. And suddenly it’s all coming together

The Ortiz slump started last season, not when the Pratt signing winds started to blow.  He was pretty dreadful all last year, so I really don't think it was the Pratt thing at all.

I personally love this move, but maybe Pratt at 3rd and Turang at SS?

Arraez shouldn't be too expensive and it creates a death by a thousand paper cuts lineup.

Ortiz showing life at the plate and crazy good defense at 3rd leaves me not super convinced this is as big of an improvement. His bat even while hitting for a good average was near league average the two prior years and while he has hit a lot more doubles he is still only at 4HR compared to Joey's 3. Now in the fantasy land where Joey could hit like Arraez then you'd have a player
