The temp agency called... "we found someone to fill your urgent 3B vacancy within the salary parameters you provided. We will continue to cover his benefits for the first 30 days of his probationary period with you". No disrespect truly intended. Shewmake has made it further in  pro ball than I could have ever dreamed of doing (hard to go anywhere coming from a pimple of a small town baseball program). I would gladly trade places.

Dude looked good tonight on both sides of the ball. Former first-round pick, 28, versatile, poor but not dreadful hitter in the minors, minimal MLB opportunities . . . this looks like a useful player, especially for a team whose fans recently have had semi-serious discussions about playing Andrew Vaughn or Sal Frelick at third base.

When he was down here in Gwinnett, Shewmake reminded me a little bit of Mauricio Dubon. Always usefulish, but not quite there.

Dubon finally broke through and put up a 1.8 WAR season when he was 28. Already has 2WAR this year as a 31 year old.
