Sun. 8/9: Hoping for a Renz and Repeat of Tyler's Recent Fine Wilson Outings

So bummed, I have been planning for weeks to see the T-Rats on the road today in Beloit.

Not quite willing to risk the weather situation though for a 5 hour total drive.

Damn.

RHP Brandon Sproat (5.27 ERA with 100 Ks in 95.2 MLB IP) makes his first minor league appearance since August 2025, leading AAA Nashville to a potential series-clinching win at Memphis. LF Tyler Black has a 7-game hitting streak.

After saving Tuesday’s victory, RHP Tyler Renz (4 IP, 1 R, 1 K in that game) starts for Low-A Wilson as they seek to clinch a 4-2 series win at Hill City. CF Brailyn Antunez has 13 hits in his last 7 games.

22-year old RHP Daniel Corniel saved High-A Wisconsin’s Tuesday win (2 IP, 0 R, 1 K) and now starts this afternoon’s contest as the Timber Rattlers seek to capture this week’s series at Beloit. 19-year old CF Braylon Payne leads the Midwest League with 23 homers.

Renz spotted a 2-0 lead in the 1st. But goes walk, WP, HBP, walk and single. And it’s 2-2 with no out. Let’s Renz that inning away and get back on track.

Sproat continues where he left off sadly and gives up a 2-out HR in the 1st. 2-out hits have seemed to be his undoing.

21-year old RHP Bishop Letson (4.28 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 69.1 IP) returns for his first action since July 19, as AA Biloxi need to snap their 4-game skid at Columbus. 3B Andrew Fischer has drawn a walk in 7 consecutive games.

Renz hit his likely pitch limit and on,y goes 3.2. Better after he gave up 3 in the first. Only 2 walks, 2 hits and 1 more ER after the 1st inning.

Corniel pitching well against Beloit.

Sproat has not had a good AAA re-introduction- 6 ER on 8 H and 2BB thru 4 IP. Yikes. Here’s hoping they were just saying “throw X” to work on things. If not. Just worrisome.

Interesting inning of play in Hill City.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th, Wilson’s Eric Prado entered and walked 6 straight batters and fell behind 3-0 before getting a foul tip strikeout.

Now down 8-3, Hill City’s new pitcher walked 4 straight before registering a K. Brady Ebel’s 2-out, 2-run single made it a 1-run game again at 8-7.

Let’s see if we can complete the comeback in the 9th.

Stop me if you've heard this One the past week:

The early 2026 T-Rats bullpen  arms were incapable of holding another Southern League Double-A lead. Galindez the main culprit this L. Silver lining: Stiven Cruz briefly stopped another of his prolongef vintage bullpen tailspins <sighs> with a clean 2/3 IP. There is that! 😁

My son is telling me Blake Burke is headed to AAA. Saw it on the ‘gram, I guess. Certainly well deserved if true.

Just seeing the Burke news. Much deserved and wonderful news. Contrary to many peeps on Socials, I personally think this has more to do with Jett Williams lijely being shut down than it does another call up. I imagine he may go on season-ending IL? I just don't see another player on the 40-Man rostered in Nashville who makes sense for the current needs. I also don't see them working out a contract of any form with any of their worthy prospects. And, as always, I admit perhaps my thinking is wrong.

Would think this means either an Adams promotion or a Wilken demotion or release.

Ya... I'm kinda thinking if Ortiz is going to end up on the IL, Adams makes sense if they think j he can handle third base for a few weeks.

3B, 1B and DH. Plenty of room

If Ortiz has to sit for awhile, things get kinda itchy on the INF especially with Jett Williams apparently being unavailable again. It's to the point where the application would read 'must be a better third baseman than Andrew Vaughn'. Adams just might qualify.

I'll have a belly laugh if he gets promoted & in his first AB gets hit by a pitch.
