The High-A Timber Rattlers look to take a 2-0 home series lead over South Bend behind 19-year old RHP Ethan Dorchies (5.10 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 in 102.1 IP). DH Tayden Hall’s .878 OPS (in 341 PAs) is well above the Midwest League average (.767).

RHP Miqueas Mercedes has been dominating for the past 8 weeks (1.08 ERA in last 33.1 IP) and leads Low-A Wilson as they aim for a 2-1 home series lead over Hickory. DH Carsten Sabathia’s professional career is off to a flying start (.405 AVG, 1.159 OPS in 47 PAs).

Last week, RHP Manuel Rodriguez earned AA Biloxi’s only win in their past 18 games (5 IP, 1 R. 4 Ks). He gets the start tonight at home against Knoxville. C Matt Wood (.870 OPS in 343 PAs) is back in the lineup after exiting a game early on August 18.

LHP Thomas Pannone (4.42 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 79.1 AAA IP) and Nashville can claim a 2-0 series advantage at Jacksonville tonight. 3B Brock Wilken homered yesterday and has a 7-game hitting streak.

Miqueas Mercedes with another nice start. 20 yo with a very solid year, amazing second half in low A. He and Wande Torres have me intrigued.  Two interesting international arms.

Dorchies has continued in his very disappointing season - only 1.2 IP which I hope was pitch count related and not an injury.

A healthy RHP Michael Fowler will be much needed promoted Shuckers post-season bullpen help me thinks. Nice to see the Shuckers hold on and win a one run game. Manuel prevented any long balls. Birchard and Seppings held it down. Phew!

Our beloved RHP Cameron Wagoner now has seven Nashville outings under his belt. One earned run. 8 1/3 IP, 3 BB, 5 H, 11 K. The man is absotively legit. MLB ready arm. What. A. Story.

Much needed bullpen option for the big-club next season and who knows, maybe he can pull an Orion Kerkering of 2023, get called-up in September and impact the postseason.

I just mentioned this last night in whatever thread that if there was a surprise in store for the crew and September call ups... Wagoner is my pick.

It's only been around 100 ab's but it might be time to consider moving Antunez to Appleton. I think it would be a good challenge and it would get some attention from the national scouting scene sending an underated player hitting nearly .400 to High A as an 18 year old. Sure it would be easy to leave him in Wilson the rest of the way but the dude has raked.

Dickinson also deserves a promotion, I get there is an IF log-jam ahead of him but maybe the consider him in CF??? His defense at 2B hasn't been great and he is athletic enough for CF or at least LF.
