Certainly not by me, which is what you seemingly implied by saying I'm dying on this hill....

I would say the onus is on you to provide the evidence to back it up because I can't recall anyone who legitimately said they wouldn't take the NL MVP over Chourio RIGHT NOW. And if they did, they were definitely either alone or part of a very small minority.

Probably not due to PCA's god like defense, but I certainly wouldn't count out Chourio having a season resembling PCA's this year from an offensive perspective. Considering Chourio has been a far better hitter than PCA was at his age.

I do not care at all about PCA. He is having a fantastic season, will win MVP and it will all be for nothing as the Cubs lose to the Phillies. That being said, go Brewers, let’s get this thread back on track.

Yeah.   But not everyone has the same linear progression.     Im sure there were a bunch of other people who were better hitters than Armstrong at age 18,19,20 etc

Chourio is obviously talented but im not going to put expectations on him to hit the ball like this dude is right now at any point.     Like I said in wild be very surprised if Chourio ever has a season like Armstrong is having right now.

No not all development is linear, but people who are as good as Chourio at his age are pretty much exclusively multitime all stars/MVPs/HOFers, as @Matthew Trueblood highlighted in his article the other day. So, I would bet on him having some elite offensive seasons, potentially even as elite as PCA's this year.

I don’t think I have said anything about the Brewers offense or the Cubs offense being “inconsistent” or any more “inconsistent” than you should expect. I seem to remember saying that the Brewers offense has been pretty consistent, but at closer to a league average than an elite level over the last few months  

It’s no secret that the Cubs score more and allow more runs than the Brewers.

I know some posters here go ballistic when I refer to games played after June 10. We obviously have a fundamental difference of opinion about the relevance of more recent results as compared to what happened 3-5 months ago.

On June 10, the Brewers completed their trip to Coors and Vegas and the Cubs completed the slump that dropped them to .500 and 8 games behind the Brewers after their torrid start. 

Since then the teams have virtually identical records, with the Cubs leading the league in RPG at 5.90 (not counting today) to the Brewers at  4.67 (7th in the NL). The Brewers are leading RAPG at  3.58 to the Cubs 4.12 (3rd in the NL).

So, draw whatever conclusions you want. I think the teams are pretty evenly matched right now as the Cubs have improved their run prevention while continuing to have a formidable offense. The Brewers have better run prevention but a less potent offense. 

If the Brewers can play the Cubs even in the 7 upcoming games they will be in even better position than they are now.

Every time I watch a Brewer game on national television, I gain more appreciation for our local telecasts. I don't know who has worse production of these games, Fox or ESPN.

Do you have data on the overall winning percentage of teams in the NL when scoring and allowing a certain number of runs? For example when a team scores exactly 2 runs, what is the winning percentage. Or, when a team allows exactly 4 runs, how often do they win. 

Baseball Reference used to have this data, but dropped it a couple of years ago. I would like to confirm my suspicion that the biggest secret to the Brewers success is that they win more often with low run scoring totals than the average team would.

Indeed.  I believe my question was, who would you rather have over the next 5-7 years as they have essentially the same contract.
