I don't like to question Ned, but why have Durrington ahead of Grieve? Interesting scrappy lineup though

Are you kidding, DHonks? The third-baseman bats sixth... always. It's a rule.

Duh.

Actually, breaking up the three LH bats isn't too bad of an idea. Of course that could also be done by dropping Hall and moving up Overbay.

I can just hear Ueck starting off the top of the second inning. "Due up this inning are first baseman, third baseman, and rightfielder. And if any of them can get on we'll get a look at catcher and possibly pitcher this inning as well."
Posted

"We'll try to track down some more info on this bottom half of the Brewers lineup. Jim, what does your laptop say?"

"Sorry Bob, but all I know is Durrington is Australian and one handsome gentleman."

"So back in 1964..."

great stuff guys. I don't worry about breaking up the lefties, since Overbay is fine vs them and JEnkins has been clutch off them lately. On the whole, as a frequent critic of Jenkins, I've been very impressed with his approach this year. He's trying for contact much more (resulting in doubles and singles), and is being more selective. Could be a huge year for Geoff.

Harang is someone I've liked since he came up with the A's. I seem to remember liking his stuff.

I'm no scout, but it seems Pods is letting his front shoulder fly open on swings, hence why it seems he's weekly hitting soft fouls the other way. If he keeps the shoulder in tight, then he might hit those fair or at least on a line.

Anyone else noticing what I mean?

Obermueller should be designated to the bullpen. Did anyone see the splits on 1st/2nd/3rd time through the order? Not very good.

I like the guy, and I think he could succeed quite well in the bullpen

I sure liked all those Quality Starts last year. He's doing fine today. If he is still struggling when Cappy comes back, I say let Wes go to AAA to try to get straightened out.

nope....but....hall is a poor mans soriano.....just like I said he was 3 months ago.

I also said it was a 2 way race for 1st and a 4 way race for 3. Not bad!

There is NO reason why Craig Counsell should still be the starter at shortstop. Yost better come to his senses and let Hall play.

AJAY, I figure all of a sudden in about 2 weeks, Hall will be starting just about everyday. Yost seems to have a delayed reaction to when someone is playing well and deserves to be playing every day.

Let's see Hall be a 20/20 guy before we even call him a poor mans version of a 40/40 guy.Hall should be playing 5 times a week though.

It's May 6th

Plenty of time for St. Louis to seperate from the bottom feeders.

Isn't Hall starting in 3 of the last 5 games a sign that Yost is making changes? I still think Counsell should play some...perhaps now it shifts to Hall and Counsell playing 3 days each, or maybe even Hall 4 of 6, rather than 5:1 for Counsell as it was initially. I still want Hall to rest some, but he's sure earned more chances.

That was an absolute bomb, but I'm more impressed with his defense. I was one of the first to praise Hall's swing back in 2002, but the two areas of improvement that have most impressed me have been his eye at the plate (laying off of some tempting pitches lately) and his improved defense. Keep it up Billy!

Gotta say I'm not sure what the Brewers saw (or didn't see) why they put Valentin on waivers. They said his defense wasn't up to par, but he's been doing his best Matheny and Blanco impersonations this series, blocking everything and getting in position to throw awefully quickly. Osik and Perez did a great job last year, but I'm just not seeing what management saw, unless they didn't like his attitude, work ethic, or game calling.

A regular scrubby hitting pitcher that's fine, but Obie can swing the stick.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Hall is going deep. I'm making the call.

So bases loaded for the Brewers. The Red's pitcher just walked Pods on 4 pitches and then falls behind 3-0 to Hall. Step in Bill,

"He should get the green light here."

Bill Schroeder is a complete idiot.
