  1. Is there a reason why you can't just say Bobby Valentine?
  2. The point is you still get to watch the game, yet that's not good enough for some people. That's the part I don't get.
  3. Poor you. You've never been away from Wisconsin and been forced to watch a sporting even over the internet have you? I've never seen a Brewer game in HD, and I think it's hilarious that all of you guys are complaining because WMLW isn't HD. Life is rough, just glad you guys are managing to survive.
  4. Eckstein is flashy? I've never thought that about him. He's sort of a nerd for the way he sprints to first after a walk, but I wouldn't consider that flashy, it's just sort of silly.
  5. Just how inconsistent are the strike zones? I've never read that inconsistent strike zones are an issue in MLB. The issues have already been discussed in this thread (umps with big egos, and the homerun vs double or foul ball).
  6. Surprisingly, lefties are hitting Johan better than righties this year: .254/.294/.429 for LHP as opposed to .239/.289/.341. Not sure Macha would trust Lucroy against Santana regardless of the splits, though.Better in all of the categories you listed, very surprising. Well, maybe I worked some reverse-psychology magic.
  7. Kottaras is a left-handed batter, with a lefty on the mound. Lucroy is a right-handed hitter, right? Seems like a rough match up for Kottaras, but what do I know.
  8. I read "Flags of Our Fathers" in about 3 days. I couldn't put that book down. I had seen the movie before I read the book, but the book was definitely better - which is usually the case IMO. I've ready Terry Frei's "Third Down and a War to Go" and really enjoyed that, I'm thinking about picking up EB Sledge's Memoir from the Pacific War, maybe Robert Leckie's as well. I'd like to read into just what made The Pacific mini-series on HBO. I had a hard time finding the right genre, but war seems to be it; so much to write about.
  9. Only part of the thread I disagree with. The umpires' mistakes and different strike zones are part of the game that both teams have to deal with. I agree with instant replay for homeruns, but would hate to see any more involvement from technology in umpiring games. I do agree that umpires have been out of line for the last few seasons. They've really been jumpy with ejections, and in a lot of arguments the umps seem to be the aggressors.
  10. I guess that the strategy tonight is to swing at the first couple of pitches?
  11. Interesting.. seems as though Bill and Brian are ripping Macha for not getting tossed for protecting Bush.
  12. I was thinking the same thing. Late to the party here, I've been late to the party here on the in-game chat for a few years actually. It was a tad ridiculous to see Rapuano coming out towards Bush like that. Yeah, you can't argue balls and strikes, but what was that? Hopefully Dave Bush has "Better Days" by Beck on his Ipod.
  13. Yeah, I wonder if Ken Macha looks like a Brewer manager? I'm sure a little bit, since he's in the uniform and all.
  14. Yep, agree with you and the previous couple of posters. I hope this soreness isn't serious, or that it causes an injury in a different spot. The Brewers are going to need Jeffress to harness his ability. As far as the drug stuff, I just hope he doesn't get a lifetime ban. If he gets to the big leagues he can smoke all he wants if there really isn't a test for it, as long as he can perform. If players can play I really don't care what they're on. If I have kids someday I'll just be sure to keep them from emulating that player's off the field behavior.
  15. That's a beaut, I wonder if it was Mustache March?
  16. Do you think the Giants were just going to give up Barry Zito for Bill Hall and Jeff Suppan? What other "crap" did you have in mind as a toss-in?
  17. Typically Airtran is cheap and comfortable. So the odds are you would book with them anyway.I've flown quite a bit and never even heard of Airtran. I'll keep it in mind.
  18. I guess the promotional paint job has worked for a few of you fellas, eh? Mark me down as not really caring what's on the side of the jet, as long as the price and comfort are good.
  19. What if the Cubs were second-to-last in the division and the Brewers were last, does being behind the Cubs make a difference at that point? It shouldn't matter where the Cubs and Brewers finish with each other to make or break Doug Melvin's job as Brewers GM. Brewers fans want to believe there is this huge rivalry with the Cubs, and while there is a good one it's not to the level of the rivalry the Cubs have with the Cardinals. When the Brewers and Cubs were playing for the 1 and 2 spots in the division, yes things got a bit more heated. Being close proximity helped that, too. I just don't see the fire in the rivalry like there was in 2008 and possibly 2007. At this point the Cubs are just another team in the division, who happen to be ahead of the Brewers.
  20. That's also pretty boring. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. I'm not demoralized, maybe a bit surprised at how the season has gone thus far. I expected Hoffman to be a little better, and I expected Prince maybe to have a couple more homeruns. I'm not worried about Prince, Hoffman on the other hand has me a tad concerned. I'm a bit concerned with the amount of money the Brewers have invested in pitchers that they can't really count on. Not demoralized.. yet, I'll save that for the All-Star break.
  22. It seems as though a lot of fans - and I'm not directing this towards you JB12 - think that because a player is hit by a pitch the other team must retaliate. We've seen, over the course 5 years or more, that there have been far more warnings, and ejections do to HBP's. It seems to be a trend that if Prince or Rickie is beaned the Brewers must retaliate because obviously it was intentional. Prince and Rickie both sit pretty close to the plate, I wouldn't put much into them getting beaned. I think, overall, Prince would have most beanings coming his way as he's sort of a fiery guy on the field. But I still think those intentional beanings are rare.
  23. I don't really understand how the trade "keeps getting better" for the Brewers. They traded for CC, and the playoffs in 2008 were great, but CC isn't on the team anymore and the team had a losing season in 2009. Someone please explain to me how that equates to "keeps getting better" for the Brewers in 2010.
  24. I've never paid for a music CD. Maybe that's something I shouldn't admit to.
