  1. If Cleveland demands Gamel (or Escobar) and LaPorta fine go ahead and do it, with one caveat. Demand Cleveland sign Sabathia to a 10 year deal before the trade and pay 80% of the salary. See I can look real sad, pout a bit, then ask for the moon too. If Shapiro really did ask for, and is adamant about recieving two of the big 4, it is time to giggle, profusely, and hang up the phone. Heck, I would even wait 20 minutes call him back and just start giggling more. edit: I was just thinking about this, acquiring CC would give the Brewers 2 Cy Young winners on their roster at the same time. Trade for Maddox for a third, and just hope that Sheets wins this year for a fourth. Your 2008 Brewers Hording Cy Young Winners.
  2. Why would it suck? He would be moving from an organization where he is blocked, at least short term, to an organization where he would have a highly likely shot at being called up within a month or two. It's also not like he would be getting sent to the Mariners or Pirates, two of the worst run franchises imo. LaPorta is probably hoping for a trade.
  3. The trade deadline is at the end of the month, but the rumors are that Melvin put a limited time offer on the table that includes LaPorta. If Cleveland doesn't accept the trade but a set time the offer goes down "significantly". ----- Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=390454#p390454 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?t=13578
  4. LaRoche strikes me as a player who will probably end up like Andy Marte. A top prospect that people don't want to give up on but never lives up to the hype. Delwynn Young isn't anything more than a nugget in a trade, Nelson Cruz'esc. The SS I really don't know enough about to say anything. The turning point very well could be Jonathan Broxton. Cleveland has been looking for a sure thing closer for years now and hasn't found one yet. Would the Dodgers offer for CC be Broxton, Lui, Young, and Lambo? Is that better than LaPorta Green? Then LaRoche plus more for Jack Wilson?
  5. I just spam voted about 125 times. Russel Branyan All Star! Oh, yeah, I voted for that Braun guy too.
  6. I would like to fully endorse the acquisition of Brian Fuentes. If for no other reason than the draft picks he would bring at the end of the year. This years draft was an absurd amount of fun to pay attention to with all the extra picks. Realistically though I don't know if the Brewers would be able to come up with an offer that would be enough to entice Colorado. No way would I want to include the one of the big four from Huntsville for Fuentes. I beleive foxsports.com or rotoworld.com were saying that the Rockies might be hesitant to off Fuentes arbitration at the end of the year so that should lower his value. Gwynn Jr., Gillespie, and one of the highish ceiling A pitchers?
  7. I would have to wonder what the Orioles would want in return for Roberts. Logically I doubt that Weeks would be a player they would value as highly as the Brewers would value him. In my mind I would offer up a trade of Alcides Escobar, Jeremy Jeffress, and Hernan Irrabarean (sp?). Escobar would give them a SS that could be a very nice player. Hernan would at least give them a replacement for Roberts with some upside. Jeffress would be the high profile potential star of the trade. Is that to much for the Brewers to give up, maybe but Roberts would be a huge addition, and keeping him away from the Cubs would be huge.
  8. This is just amazing. This is going to be one huge influx of pitching into the organization. I just wonder where they will find room for them all.
  9. My parents had a cottage in Eagle River, pretty close to Minocqua. I don't know what you are into but at night if it a nice clear night you should go and check out the Paulding Lights. There is this wierd light that just floats and zig zags around the sky. It has yet to be explained, and was showcased on Unsolved Mysteries back in the day. http://www.backwoodswisconsin.com/paulding_light.htm
  10. I wish that I would have found out about this sooner. It is great to see Rickie doing this. I will agree with Dadofandrew that the cost is a bit to high for me, but my first reaction was if we can get 10 bf.netters to chip in $30 bucks a pop we could buy a pair of tickets and then raffle them off among those ten. If I would have known about this sooner I would have tried to see if there was interest in doing something like that. A $30 donation to a good cause with a 10% chance at getting to go to a fabulous event, for a fabulous cause.
  11. Anyone else going to the Zombie Walk this Saturday in Milwaukee? Does anyone have any quick and easy ideas for making a zombie costume? Whats the best way to make fake blood for the face, and clothing?
  12. Hahaha. How is that the Reds can mess up something as common sense as promoting Jay Bruce? Well somehow they messed this up big time. Instead of getting rid of Corey Patterson, they designated Scott Hatteberg.
  13. Would Hewitt be comparable to a Brent Brewer then? Or would his ceiling be much higher or more likely to reach his ceiling?
  14. I hate the DH, so no way do I want to see the NL add that. I just really like the additional strategy that having the pitcher hit brings to a game. So my suggestion would be that when an NL team goes to an AL park the DH gets dropped. When a AL team goes to a NL park the DH is added. That way either side dosen't have homefield advantage and a DH/no DH advantage. Plus then fans get to see something different.
  15. <---Printing Industry, I work in the Bindery as a machine operator. I am going to school for printing at FVTC. I hate every moment of it. I just can't imagine doing it for another 50 years. Well, I guess I can't imagine doing anything for that long, but I want something new, I have no idea what but something different. I've tossed around becoming anything from a Librarian to a Teacher to a Nurse to a Hobo.
  16. Couple of questions. 1. This is the year that the new rule involving unsigned players goes into affect, isn't it? 2. If it is how deep into the draft does the "compensation" go, and does it include supplemental round selections? 3. Is this going to reduce the chances and numbers of players falling due to signability concerns? Rick Porcello is an example from last year. 4. With the Brewers having so many selections would it be wise for them to drafte one two "hard signs", and just hope they can convince them to sign? Eric Hosmer was a name that was brought up as a Boras client asking for the moon. If does fall due due to signability would that be something the Brewers might due with the new rules in place? Kyle Long is another example, a player who many people seem to think has uber potential, but as you stated in another thread probably is going to go to College.
  17. Zach Braddock is the pitcher that has most of the Brewers fans intrigued. Taylor Green would be the hitter that is in the same boat. Those two players seem to be extremely high ceiling players.
  18. The Giants are the team that I immediatly thought of. In the offseason they were rumored to be going after a Lincecum for Rios deal. If the Brewers called the Giants about Lincecum or Cain odds are the Giants would want/demand Corey Hart in return. Is that an amazing deal for the Brewers, probably not. Still it is probably debatable. I would have to wonder if a deal of Hall and Laporta would be enough to entice the Giants to give up Lincecum. Hall could play 3rd or SS or 2nd for the Giants and be an immediate upgrade, and Laporta would their 1stbaseman for the next 10 years. Is that overpaying on the Brewers part? Most likely it is but when speaking in hypotheticals I would always try and undervalue Brewers and overvalue other teams players. I also am not sure on what kind of real value Hall has now that his contract in starting to rise. The odds of an inseason trade with the Giants going down is sitting at about .0001%. Nonetheless it is fun to speculate. edit: Big Reed beating me to the punch on Hart being what it would take to get Lincecum/Cain
  19. My first game since I was 10 or 12, im 25 now, and it was great. Amazing in fact. Stupendous, stellar, et al. I never thought I would get sucked into the Bobblehead craze, I always scoffed and ridiculed it, until I got mine and saw I pulled out a retro, now I am hooked. Granted that the bobble is very, very poorly done.
  20. Woo-hoo, today is going to be my first time going to a Brewer game in about 15 years. I'll be there section 405 with my lime green brewerfan.net shirt on. Sheets with a 3 hitter today. 8-1 Brewers win
  21. I just got done watching the most frusterating movie, ever! Southland Tales. I've now watched it at least 10 times in the last 2 weeks and I am still totally lost, utterly and hopelessly lost. After watching the movie the first time I was kind of enthralled, it was visually a nice movie. It had elements of a movie I would absolutely love, so I began watching and rewatching the movie trying to piece the tangled mess of the story together but everytime I seem to tie up one loose end three more threads come untied. I can't give up yet, apparently there is a bunch of comics that are a prequel to the movie so I'll have to try and find them, so I can get this dang movie out of my life, once and for all. I can't believe how much I am obsessing over this movie. What other movie out there are like this that confuse, yet intrigue you?
  22. Thanks for the clarification. Great work as always guys.
  23. Isn't the plan for Kapler to play against Lefties? I don't have any problems with him playing, I do have a problem with him hitting 2.
  24. What the deal with Luis Pena? Why was he unranked at the end of last year, and now #8. I definitely can see why he should be a top 15 prospect, I just don't see why he went from unranked to top 10 during the offseason. Is that the largest jump that a player has ever made? There are very few sure things uber-prospects on the list but it sure does seem to be a deep list, and it is about to get deeper with the abundance of picks coming up in the June Draft.
  25. Weeks first inning 3-1 count. Also Weeks 8th inning off of Marmol.
