  1. Lindstrom can't throw strikes, so I wouldn't give up much for him..... maybe a mid level minor league bat, but that's about it.
  2. Hornung is absolutely everywhere hawking his book/signature. I've seen him set up in a booth at Summerfest and the State Fair to name a few. He's probably flooded the market.
  3. He is consistently brutal. His durability could also be called into question with his injuries/mental breaks over the past two years.
  4. I have to think that Counsell will be back unless someone blows him away with an offer.
  5. I don't have a problem with this. Hopefully they pair him to split time with the young guy who has the most potential, be it the new guy from Boston, Lucroy or Salome. Guess we've went full circle, since his uncle Rick Dempsey played with the Crew at the end of his career as well.
  6. I've always said that Suppan/Hart/ a little $ for Guillen/Bannister makes a ton of sense. People in Kansas City want Guillen gone about just as much as people in Milwaukee want to get rid of Suppan. Bannister would be a solid 4-5 starter, and Guillen would hurt the team much less than running Suppan out there every fifth day. Not that Guillen would be great, but he would be OK splitting time, and would be gone next year anyway.
  7. Sheets, provided that he's ready for spring training.
  8. Why would Milwaukee be looking for a center fielder when they just acquired Gomez? Sounds like blogspeak to me from someone who doesn't know the roster as well as we do.
  9. Actually, Buck was the reason that I said Carey is possibly the worst announcer in the game. I find it a toss up as to who is worse. Both are far too snide and obnoxious for my taste. They are pretty much interchangeable to me.
  10. Possibly the worst announcer in the game, and that's saying a lot. If it wasn't for his name, he'd be working at a roller rink somewhere.
  11. No thank you unless Texas is sending a ton of money back with him. He is older than dirt with a falling strikeout rate, plus he has problems throwing strikes. He was horrible in 2007 and 2008, and though he was decent last year, I'm not interested in 'buying high', even if it is a contract year. This is exactly the type of guy that Melvin needs to learn to pull himself away from.
  12. The only thing that I can get upset with Bud about is giving a job to Laurel Prieb. Don't get me started on his daughter though.
  13. The way that I look at it, you pay Prince what you are paying him now - add what Suppan will is getting when he is gone, and you are right in the neighborhood of what it will take. Instead of using that money for mediocre starting pitching by getting into contracts with guys like Doug Davis and Washburn, spend it on the proven commodity, and hope that this organization can finally develop some quality arms to put with Gallardo and maybe find a couple of bargains like Davis was 5 years ago along the way. Simply put, any offense with Braun and Fielder in the long run should be solid. I don't have anything to back me up on this, but it seems that trading superstars for multiple prospects doesn't pan out more often than it does.
  14. After the thugfest that was the All Star game in Vegas a few years back, I really doubt that the NBA will put a franchise there. I would also think that the Donaghy gambling thing would also cause them to shy away. To me, there just aren't many places that make sense to relocate a team. Kansas City isn't exactly a huge market and has had and lost the NBA already. Louisville would make some sense to me since they are basketball crazy there, but it's a small market with a strong possibility that the NBA would play second fiddle to UL and UK. If Jennings keeps this up, I have a feeling that things will take care of themselves for keeping the Bucks here.
  15. The reason that I include Parra in trade proposals is basically because he is the only young MLB ready pitching talent that the team can offer. Because of his potential and his low salary, he still has a some value, but a another flameout this year will make him worthless. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't give him away or trade him for offense or prospects, but if he is used as a piece to get a legitimate #1 or #2 starter, it wouldn't break my heart. I just don't think that you can depend on him to be more than a #4 starter at this point. The problem is that at this point this team has one starter that's a #1 or #2 in Gallardo, two guys that could be #4-#5 guys in Parra and Bush, and one guy that has no business starting in the majors in Suppan. If they want to compete next year they have to get two good starting pitchers (not guys like Davis and Washburn who aren't much better than what they have)...... I know, easier said than done, but the only realistic way that it's going to happen is through a trade, and you have to give to get.
  16. Agreed. That's why I said part of a deal. I would think that a package of Gamel or Lawrie, Parra, some prospects and possibly even Hart or McGahee may land someone who can be a #1 or #1A to Gallardo. For me, this would be a better option than wasting big bucks on a guy like Washburn or Davis who are #4 starters at best. That money would be better spent on absorbing some salary through a trade, even if it is a 'rental'. To me, the move that makes the most sense is to go after Halladay,Vasquez, Cain, etc., and then roll the dice and sign one of Harden/Sheets. Guys like Washburn, Davis or Mulder are not going to improve this staff by much, if at all. Mulder would be fine as a low risk low cost signing, but let's be real, he's a 5th starter if we're lucky. I haven't seen enough from Jackson to be convinced that he can be an effective #2 starter, just as I was very skeptical going into last season with Parra as the #2.
  17. I think that Redd coming back will only help this team, especially if he can hit the open shots that he will get with teams focusing on Jennings. I've always thought that Redd is the type of guy who would flourish being the second option on offense instead of the number one. With the way Bogut has developed, if we can keep him and Redd healthy, we are looking at the Big Three 2009.
  18. I thought that Lawrie, Hardy, Parra, mid level prospect would have maybe gotten this done. With Hardy gone, I think that the cost in prospects would be too high (Lawrie AND Gamel for example)
  19. I'd take Morrow ahead of Jackson if it means not having to give up Gamel. I have no problem trading Gamel if it is part of a deal for a front line guy, and I'm not sure if Jackson fits the bill as a #2.
  20. Don't really know a thing about him, but here's hoping this guy is this year's McGahee.
  21. Wow, that's brutal. I hate the Cardinals as much as anybody, but everything that I've read is that Kile died from a heart issue, not the small amount of weed that was in his system. I will say that whatever Lincecum is smoking seems to be working well for him. The guy is dominant. The only question is that if he can last for the long term considering that he's such a small dude. He reminds me a lot of a right handed Ron Guidry with a nasty curve instead of a slider.
  22. Thanks for the link! I guess I had better increase the grocery budget for December.
  23. Anyone in particular you think Melvin should be targeting? After looking through some names here are a few possibilities (I've seen a few of these names tossed around here before)... Andrew Miller, Brandon Morrow, Luke Hochevar and Jason Hirsh (real long shot, with the Yankees system now).
  24. I will say that Doug Davis looks like Steve Carlton compared to Looper or Jeff Suppan. That said, he is not worth 10 million per season. He walks far too many guys, and generally puts too many guys on base for my tastes. If he would take something like 2 years /$14 million, than I may consider it, but that's about as high and as long as I would go. He would be a fine #4-#5, not a #1-#2 like this team needs. I'm not touching Washburn with a 10 ft. pole. He has 'bust' written all over him.
  25. Agreed. I'll have to do some checking and I'll get back to you.
