  1. Gonna be particularly sweet when the Cubs get Scherzer again on Thursday. Then the pants pissing will really ramp up among Cub fans.
  2. Put me in the I'll-believe-it-when-I-see-it camp with Orimoloye. It's not as if he had a good year or something. Yeah, he was better than he was in 2017, but that's a pretty low bar. He was average at an age-appropriate level. We'll see, but I'm not worried about losing him.
  3. I would rather have Thames on the post season roster than Braun. Why? Good lord.
  4. Yeah, giving up guys that have pretty much no hope.of ever playing in the majors for actual major leaguers is terrible.
  5. I was too. Until I realized we gave up two bums in the Gio trade.
  6. The level of negativity on this site is hilarious. Look back at the Brewers' roster 2 or 3 years ago. Whatever, carry on.
  7. In their 133rd game or whatever. Incredible. Also, I was at a bar watching the game and came home and read all 26 pages of this thread. Just incredible overreactions. Truly hilarious. And I get it. Ups and downs and such.
  8. Yeah, I'd be shocked if he got to us. No doubt we'd claim him. No reason not to.
  9. I'm not completely sure about that (Gausman). We were going to non-tender Villar even if he does have a decent 1.5 years of putting up empty stats for Baltimore. Phillips is completely lost at the plate, Ortiz can't strike out more than 8 batters per 9 in AA and supposedly has a live arm, Lopez is just a guy. Carmona is the lotto ticket. The O's got 2 or 3 lotto tickets for Gausman as well as an MLB caliber reliever that truly does throw gas and strike out a lot of MLB hitters. But if you ask some regulars around here, we "gutted the farm" in those three deals. One of the 5 guys the Brewers traded at the deadline may become an MLB regular. May. I'm not even a little bit worried about anything we gave up. I agree with you on Gausman/Schoop too. I would've much rather had Gausman. He's going to be very good with competent coaching.
  10. This is pretty much my understanding. The thing that people seem to forget every year is that the order of the waiver claims goes by league. If an NL players is put on waivers, the NL teams have first dibs from worst record to best. Then the AL teams from worst to first. So if an NL player goes on waivers the Brewers would have priority over the Orioles despite a 35 game difference or whatever it is.
  11. I'd let him go if someone claimed him. And I think there's a close to zero percent chance anyone would. The question I think is pertinent is how much money would you pay someone to take him. I'd pay around a third I'd think just to move on.
  12. Some may, but his contract was built to spike massively in AAV for the final 3 seasons (35+ million/year) with money getting deferred from that for many years after it. He's pretty much on a 3 year, $110 million deal and as it is currently written, a lot of the money is deferred. Yep. And he's the best pitcher in baseball. Top 3 anyway. Every large market team claims him and some middle market teams too I would think. No doubt in my mind that the Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Yankees, Mets, Red Sox and Angels claim him. I think the Giants, Cardinals, Astros, Mariners would all be likely. Diamondbacks, Braves, Indians could. Half may be an exaggeration, but not much of one.
  13. lol at Max Scherzer clearing waivers. He'd be claimed by at least half the teams in the league.
  14. He's been really good. I still think he sucks though. Yeah, I know that makes no sense.
  15. Meh package pending the 3rd player. Surprised that was what Tampa was looking for.
  16. I agree with this assessment. Stearns is too attached to his prospects. I don't know how you can say that without even knowing who they gave up. You don't? Sometimes you just know if you're negative enough.
  17. I think we gave a better package for Schoop than what the Braves gave for Gausman. That's where I don't understand the logic... I think the logic is that they didn’t like Gausman that much. I mean, the enthusiasm around here for Gausman was based on what? Former high draft pick, Wade Milley expletives, coaching magic, and wish-casting for the next Arrieta? It isn’t a very strong argument in the end, it seems to me. Actually watching him pitch in my case. And imagining what a good pitching coach could do with his wicked stuff.
  18. Gausman for Peralta and Troy Stokes.
  19. 0% chance of that being true Villar vs. LHP - .300/.352/.540/.892 Yeah I don't know where that came from. Villar is a Much better hitter right handed. Career .172 iso vs .122. Higher OBP etc.
  20. Wow. Not sure how I missed that. My only excuse would be an extremely pregnant wife as my 2nd daughter was born 2 days later haha. Really cool stuff.
  21. Halladay was before but only by like a week. Who can name the perfect game pitcher from the White Sox in 2012? Who can name the perfect game pitcher from the As in 2010? The white Sox guy was a big Tampa draft pick. Humber? No idea on the Oakland guy. Braden? Seems like that should've been longer ago.
  22. Cain. As mentioned. I bet the Astros in that game. That was fun. That's all I got.
