  1. Robertson's nickname is as bad and uninspired as his play.
  2. Agree completely. I would say avoid the ultra-competitive leagues, even throughout HS. They demand year-round commitment, which robs them of other sports and activities. And, yes, there is a high probability they will burn out. None of this is an absolute, of course. My daughter played competitive soccer as early as it was an option. She was burned out before her senior year of HS, didn't even want to play for her HS team. The other part of all this, I don't even want to try to calculate how much money we spent over the years on leagues, camps, training, and most of all travel.
  3. He's gone from using Hader in a winnable game multiple innings if hes available to pitch to Im okay with him for 1 IP and don't care if we win or lose the game I use him in. Do 8 teams make the playoffs again? Not in April they don't, no.
  4. I feel like it's pretty much a given. Once you have back problems it stays with you for life. Mine started at age 14. It can also be set off by anything, I once threw my back out just opening the oven door. That's ridiculous. Just because his back is tweaked doesn't mean he'll have the problem for life.
  5. Same reason guys like Suter can get away with a 60 mph fastball. If you're sitting on off speed pitches, that's what happens.
  6. And The Wire. Which means its all down hill when you're done with BCS, so slow down! There is still OZ and NYPD Blue to watch, can't go wrong with either of those gems... Another great show: Justified! I loved Justified a lot more than I thought I would. Ditto for The Americans and Ozark.
  7. You may be right. I'll trust them to make that call over what any of us think. I'm just commenting on what to do IF they send him down. There are lors of reasons to do so. Simply a reset, a change of scenery can make a difference. Or working on someone specifically, like his leg raise, where he starts his hands, whatever may be better done away from MLB. It's not about handling AAA pitching or not. It's about making adjustments, and AAA may or may not be a better place for that than MLB.
  8. Exactly. If Hiura needs to go down, he needs to go down. Expecting his temporary replacement to put up better numbers is not the goal. The goal is to have an improved Hiura for the 2nd half of this season and beyond.
  9. And The Wire. Which means its all down hill when you're done with BCS, so slow down!
  10. Nottingham doesn't solve the problem. Hiura's making progress. The first 5 games he fanned twice in each. In his last 5 he hasn't had any multiple K games and he's walked 3 times in the last two games. Didn't say Nottingham solves the problem, just that he could play 1B while Hiura's at AAA, since he's already on the 40 man. Then again, he was part of the Davis trade, so I know that's not an option for you , personally.
  11. They may be due for heavy regression on those RISP numbers, but they could also improve drastically on their 27th overall wRC+? So they could certainly maintain or even improve on the 4.42 RPG.
  12. Nottingham may be an option worth trying at 1B when they send Hiura down. He may not be ready for full time action though, no idea. As for Hiura, chasing high FBs is a problem that usually doesn't change easily. And the bigger problem is swinging through middle middle FBs at an alarming rate. How do you fix that? Sometimes I seriously wonder if they've done a comprensive eye exam. I seriously doubt his vision is the issue, but wouldn't be the first, even in recent times.
  13. Juan Nieves and/or Teddy Higuera maybe. Sabathia during his short stint here for sure. Ben Hendrickson obviously.
  14. Ok, well then that goes back to my main point. This pen isn't very good after you get past Hader and Devin. Boxberger and JP have a 0.00 ERA. And you said earlier Suter is reliable. That's 5. Perdomo looked very good no? That would be 6 if he's the real deal. Back end of the bullpen? Yea, in flux like every other team. Do I love the BP in general this moment? No. But I'm not too worried, there's an endless strwam of other options.
  15. Suter has always been used consecutive games. Williams is coming off an injury and this is April. Pretty easy to understand why Williams was not available tonight?
  16. Did Arcia ever have a 3walk game?. Urias will be batting 2nd here soon with the OB skills that may turn in to BA skills. Especially if he's in front of Yelich. Another blown loss on Woodruff pitching game. Tough loss. Hader going more than just the 9th might have kept the W for Woody. I imagine Counsell when the decision to keep Williams from high leverage innings for now, planned the 8th for Suter all along. Hader 9th for a save or Perdomo 9th when behind. Not taking the in game meaning of the moment. 3rd QS by Woodruff 0 wins to show for it up 1Run vs division rival. Nah not the best rp in baseball over the last 3years because hes my 9th inning giy and Id have to rest him for tomorrow....well he didn't pitch tonight did he? Williams pitched last night, that's why he wasn't available tonight.
  17. Nope. Even if the pen was lights out, that will change by September, heck by May. It's a long season, and the pen will go through 20 guys until they have it figured out. History does tell us they figure it out.
  18. My 18 month granddaughter just said "Gruber." Really? You can't say grandpa...pa....nothing. But Gruber, no problem.
