  1. Just because CC says that in December doesn't mean things can't change by March. But I'll put a pin in that one. I always thought it would be a long shot for 2016 anyhow. What I like is DS has used every tool available. Trades, waiver wire, Rule 5, etc. Better yet, he hasn't given in the masses and forced deals for C, CF, 3B, or any other perceived need. Now is not the time for worrying about positions at the MLB level. First step, infuse as much young talent as you can throughout the organization. Step two, I hope, is to focus more on player development to increase the odds that more of this young talent will develop into MLB players. There will be time when a certain position on the MLB roster needs to be addressed, but we are far from that day. In the meantime if he feels the need to sign someone here and there to round out the MLB roster, I'm fine with that I guess as long as it's cheap and one year contracts. Because while I could care less how many games they lose next season, most fans wouldn't look to kindly on a 120 loss team.
  2. Just play Rogers at 1B full time. I just don't see the downside, and plenty of upside. Look at it this way. With all the moves the Brewers have been making in trades, waiver claims, Rule 5, etc., this board would blow up from joy and excitement if we got Rogers from another team. I get he will never be more than adequate defensively, but the guy can hit, has power, and gets on base. What's wrong, other than it would be nice if he was couple years younger?
  3. Seems like it's worth a shot. Guys like this, all they need is a decent 2nd pitch. And if they can develop a really good 2nd pitch, you have found lightning in a bottle.
  4. Carlos Luna. Not anywhere close to sniffing the Brewers top 30, and wouldn't make the list even if the system was weaker. Under the radar in the DSL with great numbers and a live arm. I think that's what we have with these 3 young arms, two of them at least. I would think (hope) Brewers scouts know 100 times more about these guys than any of us do. Some sort of mythical top 30 really doesn't mean anything at all- especially when you're talking about players this young.
  5. Would like to see Seattle take on more of the risk in a deal like this. If we're getting back low minors pitchers, why not make them all PTNL far down the road? In other words, "we want 3 pitchers of these 6, and we'll let you know who we're taking after the minor league seasons are completed in 2016." I've never seen a deal done like that before, but I'm wondering if something like that could ever be negotiated. Even if it's not for all 3, maybe 1 or 2 of them?
  6. I just hope they can get some left-handedness in return. I don't want to sacrifice overall talent, but the Brewers need LH talent both on the mound and at the plate throughout the organization. This may be their best chance in a while to do that.
  7. Important to note many teams have an interest in Lind. Seattle is the team that has surfaced publicly so far, but no need to get caught up in it.
  8. Mark Kotsay can play some CF
  9. Mayo didn't look that out of place playing PG the last couple games. I have to believe they're going to trade him, and that can't hurt his value. A heater off the bench that can play some PG if needed, can defend PG as well on the other end.
  10. Make it a mega-trade with the Rangers. Lucroy and any combination of Lind, KRod, Jeffress, Peralta, Segura, etc.
  11. Whatever show Heat Meiser is on.
  12. It wasn't when Brandon Knight was here.
  13. That about sums it up Geezy. They could also get by on offense if they got to the line a ton every night, but that's not happening either. In theory, Giannis, Parker, MCW call all get to the rim- you would think they could/should draw more fouls. Monroe and Henson could draw more fouls in the post. Not the best recipe to depend on for offense, but at least it would be something to hang your hat on. Just amazing how just a couple changes in the course of a year ruined both their offense and defense.
  14. Or maybe they looked better because Denver is a horrible team playing with two banged up guards. Look, I have no problem with tweaking the line-up to see what works, but way too early to call this move a big success. I do agree I would limit the minutes Giannis and Parker play together at this point, if the goal was to win games this year. However, if they really are the future of this team then the more they play together, the better. It's nice to see the defense is back the last couple games, they need to keep that intensity.
  15. No, players don't hit their ceiling according to age and experience. Some hit it much sooner than others. For example, Henson basically hit his ceiling after a year. Teague, Billups, Wesley Matthews.. guys like that it took longer. Middleton will always be what he is. A good shooter, very good defensive player. He is a role player. A very good role player, but a role player. Knight, on the other hand, continues to get better and could become an elite PG very soon. Will he ever be a great defensive player? Maybe not. But if that's the standard they better trade Jabari today. Just my opinion. Of course I could be wrong, and I hope I am. On that good sir, we agree!
  16. Giannis did not just start working on his jump shot last year. You keep saying Parker will become a bona fide All-Star, and I just don't know where you're getting that. Just because he's a high lottery pick? Yes, he has skills and can be a good player. Can he become a bona fide All-Star? I suppose, but that's more wishful thinking than saying Knight would have been a bona fide All Star with the Bucks. Something else about Knight. Remember, he's young too, and getting better. Up to 44% shooting this year, 41% from 3. Yea, it's early, but there is definitely still more ceiling there. Middleton is at his ceiling. Finally, Knight is more of a combo guard, while MCW is a PG. Knight fits the offense better, because it allowed Giannis to have the ball in his hand more, and could kick it out to Knight for a shot. MCW, on the other hand, is useless off the ball. Nobody is going to kick it to him for a shot. We'll never agree, but I'm convinced it was a big mistake.
  17. I hate to keep repeating this, but Giannis and Parker can't be the go-to scorer consistently. Neither can Middleton. Look around the NBA, and the guys who fit that profile can take the ball and do anything. Shoot the 3 , drive and score, drive and pull-up, draw a foul... Middleton needs to be set-up for his shot. Giannis is nowhere close to being comfortable taking big 3 pointers night in, night out. And Parker can't do either yet, and looking at his game I don't think he'll ever be that guy. As for leader, I don't think they had a leader last year, and they don't have one this year. Yes, they have guys (and HAD guys) who had leadership skills. But only "the man" can be the true leader. LeBron, Curry, Harden, Paul, etc. If you don't have THAT guy, you really don't have a leader. You just hope to have good chemistry, and then several guys can step up and lead through voice or action. As for Knight's defense, Kidd only had him for a couple months and he was already getting better. He has the size and skill to be a good defender. Would he have been a good defender in Milwaukee after a year...three years. We don't know. But I do know he just missed being an All-Star last year, and could be one this year- even in the PG loaded West. I would have built around Giannis and Knight. Monroe? Meh. Don't hate it, don't love it. Then if/when Parker shows he's worth a max contract you can deal with it then. Trade him, or Knight...or Monroe. You would still have all those options.
  18. We're a long way from putting Jabari in the same sentence as "max contract"and "All Star." Brandon Knight on the other hand just missed being an All Star last year. Jabai and Giannis will never be the guy you rely on consistently at the end of the shot clock, end of games, etc. The only guys who can do that are the ones who can shoot the 3 ball, or drive and score. Jabari will never be that "give me the ball and I can do anything with it" type of player. Giannis, maybe, but I still don't see that either. Knight can. Flat out, it was a mistake to keep Middleton over Knight. I thought so then, and we're seeing it now. The other thing Knight brought was running the break. They were great at it when he was here. That team had an identity. They were long, played great defense, defended the 3, and were a running team. Now, the parts don't fit and they have no identity. They don't rebound, don't defend the 3, turn it over too much, and can't avoid 15 point quarters that kill them in many games. Now, all you can really say is "they're young." That's their only identity.
  19. Jericho, I may have missed it somewhere, but what type of position are you looking for? (Doctor, steamfitter, actor, IT, truck driver?) That will help me (and maybe others) figure out if we can help or not. It sucks, been there, done that. You will eventually find something that's right for you, and lasts more than two months. Just very frustrating getting through these phases in life.
  20. Or maybe we've talked Braun into taking a shot at first base? Sorry, I don't think trading for Flores has anything to do with Braun. It's not like they traded for Bautista and are saying "Well, I guess we need to trade or move Braun."
  21. Which is exactly what this team needs. Every team needs a guy like that for that matter. Remember, Jabari was scoring at a pretty good clip before he was injured. Giannis was starting to score more as well before the Knight trade. You need to have the person who has the ball in hand most of the time be able to score. For most teams that's the PG. Closest thing the Bucks have to that is Giannis, but not sure if he'll ever be "that guy" every night or even most nights. I think Knight would have been fine as the #3 or 4 scorer on this team, with the ability to be the man when he needed to be.
  22. Knight or Middleton? Knight all day long. (Forgive the pun.) Knight doesn't mesh with Giannis and Parker? They meshed just fine when they were racking up wins last year. I didn't like the trade then, hate it now. Kidd likes it, fine. But it's way too early to tell if he knows what he's doing. Look at all the great NBA players who were horrible at building a team or coaching. I do have faith in Kidd, but it's not like he has much of a track record yet. If Pop said it, I would buy it.
  23. Correct. This merger was always going to happen at some point. The more people are exposed to beer that has....well.. taste, market share for the big boy will continue to decline.
  24. MCW is a good passer? Why are his assists per minute so low? I don't think he's very good at all at creating good shots for others. He can swing it around the horn, he can penetrate and kick it out....nothing special. He rarely drives and shuffles it to someone open on the box for an easy lay-up. He rarely sees a cutter at the right time and gets the ball to him. Yes, he's a good rebounder for a PG. And he is a good defender. Everything else he does is below average for a starting PG in the NBA. I agree with you on Bayless. In fact, he better continue to get a ton of minutes when MCW and Juice come back. I just fear Vasquez will continue to get way more minutes than he should. I would go with a 4 guard rotation of MCW, Middleton, Bayless, and Juice. That would mean Bayless playing more PG than I would like, but better him than Vasquez. Also, curious why Henson isn't getting way more minutes. I'm really hoping it's just easing him in after his injury. I really like him on the floor together with Giannis.
