  1. I'm sorry, but Axford's days of being the closer need to be done. Let Krod (who hasn't been much better...I'm aware) be the closer. Axford has a job to do and he's failing. He's failing to the point that is taking the spirits out the other players. Enough is enough Roenicke... No more Axford!
  2. I heard a caller on WSSP discussing a deal that they heard somewhere dealing with Texas. Supposedly, Kinsler, Weeks and prospects are in the mix. Does anyone know anything more about this.
  3. He's gotta be traded over the next 2-6 days and this is just a cover. Whatever team that Melvin has a deal with must have a "he can't pitch and risk injuring himself" order...while Melvin is waiting to see how the Crew does against the redbirds and Reds. There's no other rationale to hypothesize. Melvin and RRR would not sit their ace during the most important stretch of the year for him to "recharged." They would say, Suck it up Greinke... and something tells me that Greinke is not one to request to be sat either. Expect a trade w/in the week if the Crew does not fair well against their division foes.
  4. Braun and aoki are proven hitters. Yeah it's up to the batters to take the info from the coaches and produce. But, what happens when the info they are listening to is wrong or damaging? Then Yes, it is a coaches problem.
  5. Regulars: (Guys that should be hitting better than they are) Weeks: .166 (worst year of his career. normally a .270ish hitter) Hart: .253 (underachieving) Gomez: .258 (I'll take this, but I think he could do more) Braun: .310 (stellar as usual, especially under the circumstances) ARam: .255 (starting to build it up) Morgan: .227 Lucroy: .345 (please come back soon) Subs (Our minor leaguers who shouldn't even be here to begin with) Green: .230 (has the potential to be hitting much better) Ransom: .219 (ouch) Conrad: .079 (see ya Crash Davis) Other than Braun and Aoki (who are 2 players who are proven hitters regardless of who's coaching them), the rest of the team is under .260. When are we going to start calling for Narron's head? My answer is today! This is getting to be too much to handle. If he can't get Weeks over the mendoza line, there's a problem. Yeah, he helped Hamilton to be the hitter he could be, but Hamilton is someone who I would put in the Braun/Aoki class and can hit regardless of who's coaching him. Narron needs to be held accountable and the Media has been giving him a free pass this year due to the injuries. I'm not on board with this plan and I feel that Weeks, Hart, Morgan, Ramiriez, EVERYONE is playing under their norms. It's time to start changing some philosophies or something.
  6. Comp picK: Haniger. Would rather have picked Gallo for the left handed power. Not sure why they passed on the lefty.
  7. Coulter and Rouche. Lots of Power. Sign up up Melvin and get them to the bigs NOW, we need them. Ok, in all seriousness though, I love the picks. We have some good young pitchers in the minors right now and I'm glad Melvin/Co, went with offense with our first round. Nicely done DM!
  8. While I will be rooting for the Crew to win as many games as possible, my only fear is that we take care of the teams we need to (Cubs, Pirates, KC, SD etc) and we end up being in the midst of a playoff push come the end of June... Melvin and Co will feel that there isn't need to be sellers and we won't get anything for Greinke. The realistic side of me says that while the Crew still has good pitching, we are not a team that is as good as the likes of Atl, Wash, Philly, STl, Cincy, Miami and we will miss the playoffs because of it. Result: No Greinke, No prospects, and no playoffs.... All because a good June against inferior teams (kinda like the Milwaukee Bucks syndrome: Being the best of the worst teams).
  9. I can get by with this rationale. Thanks!
  10. So, I'm a day early, but tonight's game marks the 50th game in the season. I come on this board to learn from all you sabermetric fanatics as well as some good Brewer talk. Looking back on the 1st 50 games, can any of you provide stat's to show just how well off we are now with Braun in the line-up vs. 50 game suspension. His stats are pretty on par with his career. He's 2nd in HR's. 3rd in OPS (1.013), 9th in OBP (.395) Seeing how poor our offense has been this year combined with the horrible list of injuries we've experienced so far...I would argue to say that Braun is worth at least 4 W's on his own already this early in the season. I don't have the statistical data to prove that obviously, which is why I'm asking you all to confirm.
  11. This seems too obvious for Roenicke to do, but hey... Aoki Lucroy Braun Hart Weeks Ramirez Ishikawa Maysonette P Hart may not dig being in the 4 hole because he's too mentally soft to be able to protect someone of value (see last year w/protecting Prince), but he's the guy that needs to be there. Ramirez can be a great 6 hole producer for us while still protecting a faster Weeks. Putting Weeks behind Ramirez does not make sense when talking about being able to run the bases effectively. Conrad and Izturis should not see regular time ever again. Maysonette isn't much better, but has more upside IMO.
  12. He was raking in Spring Training. He's not hurt. He's in a major slump.
  13. Best of luck on the recovery Mat. Time to bring in Hart at 1st. Aoki in RF and leadoff. Aoki, Weeks, Braun, Ramirez, Hart, Gonzalez, Lucroy, Morgan/Gomez, P. Frankly, I am pretty pissed off that RR hasn't already put Weeks in the 2 hole by now. What is he waiting for?
  14. Why would he want to take walks? Up until now, Aramis has been a joke. I'd rather have him try to get doubles/HR's than take a walk so that Aramis can just hit into a double play. Now, with Aramis heating up a tad, it may be a good idea for him to start taking some walks...
  15. Makes too much sense for RRR to consider. Unfortunate how Weeks remains in the lead off spot.
  16. Today is my parents 40th Anniversary. I remember watching the game with my dad in '87 while celebrating their big day and cheering once Robin made that awesome catch. Every year on this day, I remember that great moment and it's something I share with my dad annually.
  17. True, but does Matt Cain even deserve Matt Cain money? I say no way!
  18. Couldn't agree with you more. I was expecting Lucroy to get the day off regardless due to a night/day game, but also due to dealing with that cold weather last night. He'll be ready tomorrow's day game.
  19. I was inferring (not crapping on him) that Morgan has some trade value and that's the reason why he needs to go. Gomez is a much better defender than Morgan, and while he's shown to not be consistent with the stick, I'm seeing signs of improvement. Aoki I feel can provide the same level of defense/offense as Morgan, maybe better. So why not trade Morgan? Morgan has proven to be a decent defender, but he has also proven to be a liability when dealing with balls over his head and taking bad routes to balls. This is not just a one time instance from last night game as he has a track record of misplaying balls that should be routine catches. Gomez is not perfect, but considerably better.
  20. Gamel's ability to stretch out and close the double play is a sight for sore eyes. Prince was never able to do what Gamel has the ability to do on defense. Major upgrade. ARam? Makes me want to puke. Saturday's game, he failed to charge the ball twice which cause Freese to get on base once and just barely got the other one out. Then last night, his E in the 9th. No advantage over Casey whatsoever. Gonzo....much more range so far. He's gotten to balls Yuni would have never been able to get to, so I'm excited to see more of what he can do. Morgan needs to go. Gomez/Aoki need to splitting time and trade Morgan for a AA SS
  21. My US Cellular Mesmorize stunk up the joint today, kinda like the Crew. No reception at all.
  22. Lucroy should only get an off-day when Wolf pitches in the event that the opposing pitcher is a right hander. If the pitcher is a lefty... Wolf needs to suck it up.
  23. Contract extension: Lucroy. 4-5 years. I have a good feeling on this one
  24. Yup. From what I gathered from MLBN's 30 Teams/30 Days (Reds), Jockety has no reservations with sending Chapman down to the minors to further progress as a starter if he doesn't make the rotation. Not sure if this changes their minds, but I'm thinking they will stand pat on developing Chapman as a starter. This is a major blow for the Reds.
