  1. Is it conceivable that the Brewers will sign Hart AND trade for LoMo or Ike Davis as a left handed platoon/bench option? It would be nice to add some power lefties if possible.
  2. I seem to remember a lot of discussion during the year that RRR totally mismanaged the BP. Any fear that he will continue to do the same this year...thus giving this kid waaaaay too many innings in the beginning of the year due to the thought that "hey, he can pitch multiple innings, so let's give him the opportunity to prove himself.' ??? and then he gets burnt out by June. Not sure. Can anyone confirm my fear of this? Other than that, I like the trade. The kid sounds like an asset that we definitely will benefit from.
  3. Listening to the press conference, I knew that people were going to judge him moving forward for not answering the questions about his past. After the first question/answer regarding his past, I was upset with him for not answering it because I am a fan of the game/him and want answers. However, as the press conference continued, I changed my opinion on the matter due to the following. Yes, I am a fan and I want answers. Ryan, as a baseball player and an individual has a choice in his efforts to move forward. 1) Divulge info on the past so that media/fans have the answers and can move forward with him. 2) Don't say anything about the past and request that media/fans respect that and move forward together. He obviously chose the second option and this is his right. We the fans feel that he "owes" it to us to inform us of the past. Sorry folks. He doesn't owe us that. It's not in his contract to provide/disclose information to the media/fans at will. He has his own personal rights to keep information private. I for one will respect that. Am I bummed that we won't get the whole truth, yes....but hey, you can't always get want you want. It will take me a short time to really cheer for him. He sounds very regretful and remorseful and in time, I'll most likely forgive him for causing me and Brewer Nation such heartache and pain. As long as he continues to prove that he's not taking PEDs and is a positive aspect in the clubhouse and community...I personally feel that we the public can not "fully' chastise him forever. But, that's my opinion and I know that others will hold him in negative light for the rest of his career and the rest of their fandoms. In time, I will choose to not waste my time on stressing over it. For alas...this is just baseball. He is not a role model. He is not a hero. He is a baseball player. An entertainer. He is not perfect, nor are any of us fans. Due to that, I feel that we need to allow him to continue Entertaining us with his baseball skills...and hopefully bring back some much needed power/offense that the Brewers were needing from him last year.
  4. As long as none of those 5 teams are the Milwaukee Brewers, that's all that matters. He can go be mediocre for anyone else. Mediocre? You're giving him WAY too much credit. But he hits a lot of Grand Slams!
  5. MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors 43s Brewers Waive Mat Gamel, Taylor Green http://bit.ly/1bvWr9V #mlb Way to trade these guys when they had upside DM. Oh wait....
  6. Can we please think higher than Halton and Davis? Hart coming back on the cheap is a better option than both of the guys while having one of them on the bench makes our team better. Melvin can make a trade for someone better than Davis and/or Halton. FA is not looking good for 1B, so either Hart of trade. We have to think higher standards than the guys we've been using this snake-bitten year.
  7. This season has been such a waste, this news of Ryan Braun has led me to feel.....Comfortably Numb. Enjoy a great rendition of just how I feel about this situation... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUYzQaCCt2o
  8. With the emergence of Logan, Sell high on Aoki.
  9. 3 hits after 8 innings for Skaggs. Not bad at all.
  10. Melvin understands that the Crew plays 81 games per year in a stadium that is tailor made for the long ball. So, draft and develop to your advantages. In most cases, this has worked as the Crew is annually a top 3 team in HR’s and runs produced. In most cases, the runs produced is due to the long ball rather than the manufactured runs that we all so long for the Crew to be able to do. By developing your organization based on this stat and this stat alone, the failure of the organization and the GM is that we have failed to produce “professional hitters.” Unlike the long ball (Which chicks do indeed dig), players these days need to have additional attributes to be a well rounded hitter. Basic IQ which comes from the Coaching Staff if a must. The inability of the Brewers to move runners over in certain situations is appalling as these players are making MILLIONS of dollars to be “professional hitters”. They clearly are not professional hitters because all we are trying to do is hit the [stinkin’] long ball. STL Card’s is an organization that understands how to do it. You get a bunch of guys together who average .275 and above and have the ability to understand hitting to the opposite field, you don’t have to swing for the fenses in order to affect the game or keep the inning alive. You don’t get thrown out at 3rd base with no one out. Basic baseball IQ is what STL has over us. Again, that is on the GM and coaching for developing players to have certain mindsets. Pitching. Unfortunately for the Crew, they play 81 games at Miller Park per year and our pitchers are that more prone to giving up the long ball—more runs to the other team. So are we developing pitchers wrong or is it just a cause/effect of Miller Park. Both probably, because when was the last guy that we developed who was even close to a Greinke, CC, Verlander, etc??? Ben Sheets. Yovani is good but Sheets makes Yo [look pedestrian]. Again, that is on Melvin and Co for not noticing specific talent in pitching. That and our pitching coaches throughout the minors are obviously sucking as well. It’s a basic philosophy that we don’t have that other teams like STL has. You think STL would still have Weeks in the line-up this long? Axford? Lucroy? NO!!!!! They sent Boggs, their stellar relief pitcher down to the minors after he blew 2-3 games for them. This is a business. Suck it up Weeks and enjoy the minors for a few weeks. See how bad you work on your trade to never go back down there again. It’s stupid that we keep these guys on the ML squad, let alone the starting line-up! ARGH!!!!! Now you’ve made me mad! EDITED: language
  11. Lohse has been the best SP we have this season and can actually get past 6IP. I'd say Lohse is better than Gallardo, and by the end of this season he could very well be the best SP we have on the team, and established himself as our ace or co-ace, and you are honestly going to say it doesn't matter that we have him on our team? Not to mention should we lose him we'd have to find 2 more just like him instead of just 1 to field a competitive team with a depleted farm system. Lohse over this entire season will by that time have had such a positive chain reaction effect on our pitching staff that his 11 million would be well worth it and better than a 1st round pick that would have a 50% chance of working out, or more like a 40% chance knowing our inability to draft well lately, and develop. Top prospects can always be traded for, and lord knows we will have offense to trade. You really don't realize how much of a waste it is to sign guys who will not make the difference between missing and making the playoffs do you? This. If you haven't noticed, we are currently in the middle of a rebuild. It's just that we have players such as Weeks, Hart, Gallardo, Braun on our team. Segura, Gomez, our Pitchers.... we are in rebuild. I'd rather have the draft pick seeing that we weren't going to go to the playoffs anyways this year. Melvin knew it. MA didn't. This one is on MA for not allowing his GM to do his job.
  12. I find it sickening that we are always facing up against other teams best pitchers...but the other teams laugh at us when they have to face our best pitchers. I know we're not going to be this bad all season long. We're too good a team to not get on another hot streak, but this team is no where near a playoff team. Not going to happen. I'm betting they wish they had that Lohse money and draft pick back. Way to screw that one up Mark A! Let your GM do what he's being paid to do!
  13. Lucroy was a pushed up from AA rookie in 2010 and was then injured to begin the year in 2011. Once his hand was better, he began to hit, but he was also focusing on his catching duties first. At the end of 2011, he was showing just how good a hitter he is. 2012, he should have been an All-Star minus his wife derailing his season. He has proven the he can hit. You give me a choice of who I'd want up at the plate to get me some immediate production/RBI/RISP situation, and I pick Lucroy all day! Not even close.
  14. Lucroy's slump has been brought up numerous times in the local sports talk/media, however the difference is not his skin color...it's that Lucroy doesn't have a track record of slumping like that of Rickie Weeks. I for one am a HUGE Rickie fan, mainly because of his work ethic though. I admire people like him that have the ability to stay as positive as he does. With that said, he needs to be sat down. Yesterday! For him to be able to dictate his position in the line-up as well as the Brewers Organization allowing him to hit his way through the slump is deplorable! There was a debate last week after the sweep by the Cardinals on just why is the Cardinals organization always good. I truly believe that part of it is because they are just in the heads of the Brewers, but the main reason is because the Cardinals Organization doesn't accept mediocrity. They sent Boggs down to the minors lickity split because they aren't going to sit and watch...what they know is a train wreck. That my friends right there is the main difference between the Brewers and the Cardinals. THey aren't afraid of making the bold moves. The Brewers are. Always have been too and as a fan...it stinks when the whole community knows that Rickie needs to be sat down (or even be sent to AAA...which I'm not advocating for), however RRR and DM don't want to push that sensitive button. What, are the Crew players too soft? It's a business. You're stinking up the joint, you don't play. Period!

  16. Out of all the recent posts of division re-allignment, I like this one the best. However, I would make one minor change. I would swap the Blue Jays and Nationals in your list. Toronto having to travel down to ATL and FL multiple times per year doesn't make sense, plus you'd keep the National's/Orioles in proximity and create a good rivalry. Otherwise, stellar division re-allignment!
  17. This is sweet! I was hoping the upside Peralta would be the choice!
  18. While I must say I'm quite surprised by this move due to Schaffer waiting in the wings, I have to admit that I've been wanting GoGo to remain a Brewer. I see some real good attributes in him such as the desire to succeed. From all the interviews I've read about him this year, he took this offseason and just focused on watching pitches come in. He's already showing this spring that he's taken that practice and making it work for him. His OBP this spring is off the chart and I'm hoping it will carry into the season. If he can raise his OBP to over .320, I'm seeing amazing things for him and the Crew. He's one of the best CF's in the game and he is now showing the confidence in his offense to really break out. I have all the trust in him and want him to succeed. I'm hoping I don't just have my Brewer Goggles on, but all in all, he shows to have all the tools we need. Now we can use Schaffer as trade bait...as well as Gindl or Davis. This makes us much more versitle as an organization. Nice move Doug!!
  19. I won't disagree with your rant but it really is misplaced. The entire game was built around gambling and players and teams throwing games to make people money. At no point has MLB been about honest players. While I'm not all on board with steroid use it isn't some big black eye on the sport because the sport has always been about cheating to get ahead. It isn't unique in this, NFL steroid use is out of control as an example. NBA refs are payed off on a regular basis and the players themselves don't' really care about what happens on a game to game basis. An overwhelming number of soccer games have been shown to be rigged etc. I couldn't agree with you more Ender. I think with my statement there, was more to the whole little boy looking up to these players as role models vs now, we need to be educating out children that these players are entertainment and not role models in the slightest. Good points though with the soccer, basketball refs references.
  20. Ok, I'm sorry Brewmann04, but I'm going to use your post as my starting off point of my rant. I'm done with all the wooesme fans here in Wisconsin, and around baseball for all that matters. We pay our hard earned money to watch sports. Sports is entertainment. These are professional athletes who are getting paid considerable amounts of money because we as fans want to watch them play a sport and entertain us. You want to put your Braun jersey away because he may or may not have used PEDS? What's the big deal? He's an entertainer. He's not a role model, yet the baseball Gods...AKA, the Baseball Writers of America, want to make them out to be. Times have changes people. Our society is completely different than it was back in the '40's and '50's when times were more innocent and baseball had players revered as like Gods/Heros. The truth of the matter is that if there was the same level of media pressence back then as we have now, players like Ruth, DiMaggio etc etc would NEVER be looked on as they are now. Throughout all sports and especially baseball...players, coaches, teams, and even organziations look for ways to beat their opponents by any means necessary. Whether it be corking the bat, pine tar, spitting on the ball, greasing the ball, adjusting the field to make your team have the advantage, stealing signs etc etc etc etc.... they are all cheaters and all ways of "enhancing" their teams chances of winning, or "ehancing" their own individual opportunities to get more victories and $$$. Well...now we have steriods. Not my favorite, nor something that I even applaud, by hey...it's here and we have to deal with it. MLB definitely knew about it and the BWA knew about it...Selig knew about it...everyone knew about it, yet did anyone try to stop it? Heck no! Steriod use, PED use is just a way that our society has evolved. As an example, I pay my hard earned money to watch Brad Pitt kick Edward Norton's ass in Fight Club, or to watch a romantic chick flick with my wife. Now do I want to "time to put my fight club movies away" when I find out that Brad Pitt enhanced his body by taking PEDS to get a specific body type for the movie, or when an actress has a boob job to enhance her opportunity to become a millionare actress? Again, Heck No! Let's talk a little bit more close to the topic here. What about Football? The "New" America's past-time and leader in sports. Steriods are rampent in the NFL and do we say anything about them? Nope. Kids doing steriods in high school and college football just to get higher draft stock and a chance to play in the NFL. These are warriors who take PEDs and steriods like it's their business...and it is their business actually. Do we judge them? Nope. They are just doing the same thing that baseball players are doing. Just trying to put themselves in the position to make enough of the "Entertainment" piece of the pie as possible. Just like the actresses/actors who do it. THey are entertainment. Braun is Entertainment, and thankfully for Milwaukee, he's our entertainment. I for one am sick and tired of all the judgers out there/here that are placing so much importance on PEDs. The only thing I'm worried about is Braun missing time due to this. If he does, I for one will be rooting big time for him on his return. Way to go Braunny! Thanks for getting us into the Wild Card and getting us the NL Division in '11. Regardless of whether he was using, I say Thank You once again to him. Thank you for giving me the memories of having a NL Division...something I had never had in the past. I think it's time for all of us to just chill out on the whole Judging Bruan thing and just become fans of entertainment again.
  21. Going to be a tough choice between Kintzler, Rogers, Olmstead, and Hellweg. Frankly, I'm hoping it's Rogers and Olmstead making the last two spots in the BP.
  22. I apologize, but this is probably one of the worst takes I've seen in this forum for quite some time. Uninspiring baseball? Braun, Gallardo, Lucroy, Weeks, Hart, Aoki, even Gomez was fun to watch last year. Our pitching has never been more stocked and we have an up and coming position player pool such as Gennet, Gindl, Schaffer, Segura, Coultier, Roach... the list goes on. I as a fan applaud MA and his efforts. He brought his payroll to $100 mil last year and if it wasn't for our stupid BP in the first half, we proved we were one of the better teams in the NL. We have an exicting brand of baseball as we stole more bases, produced more runs than ever and were the tops in the NL in scoring runs. How is that uninspiring and not worthy of us fans coming to the ballpark? I'm sorry GSP, but your rationale is quite off. Yes, our tv deal sucks and unfortunatley that's not going to change any time soon. But we are going to compete and be a legit contender/wild-card contender every year for the foreseeable future. Brewers stock is high and rising.
  23. Vladimir Guerrero is attempting comeback. Would love to see him on our bench.
  24. Record 87-75 Division: 2nd behind the Reds. We miss the playoffs as Nationals and Braves will get the two from the East. Possible 2nd Wild Card birth, but we'll be battling with Giants, Dodgers, Phillies and Cardinals. All Stars: Braun, Lucroy, Ramirez, Fiers Disappointments: Mike Gonzalez, Peralta Surprises: Narveson, Rogers, Estrada, Olmsted, Weeks (Rickie Receives the Comeback Player of the Year award) World Series: Angels over Nationals.
