  1. He is just a guy who gets a pass most of the time because he is so well liked. That may be true for some people, but many others actually think he can hit. I am not all that fond of Hardy to be honest, but I do think he is a very good player. Don't dislike him, just not one of my favorite players.
  2. Hardy and Cameron also played good defense in comparison to their peers at the same position at defensive premium positions. An average SS is something like 1.5 wins more valuable than a comparable defensive LF.
  3. Highly doubt it. I think they just send out a previously repaired system. I have definitely had 2 different systems back after sending in mine for repairs. The one I got back this last time is noticeably quieter. The one I got back the first time had a manufacture date after my original purchase date. It only takes a little over a week to get one back after dropping it off at Staples. I don't think they send you a box any longer, but the give you a label that includes the cost of packaging I believe.
  4. It's really strange around here, with the first wave of prospects all we talked about was what they could do Whjy is that surprising? We had a crappy team and the prospects could come in and easily replace the poor performance we were getting from the then current MLB players.
  5. I wouldn't. Hardy would be hard pressed to match those numbers with his poor start. From this point on, I think he can match those numbers. Look at Weeks last year. He had a poor start and low numbers at the end of the year. From about June on he matched his career numbers for the most part.
  6. Even if Escobar can develop into the player Hardy is now, he isn't there yet.
  7. It should be free. I just got mine fixed, out of warranty mind you, for free.
  8. I'd bump him up in the lineup. I don't think that is crazy. If you are talking about otherwise similar or close to similar hitters like say Hart, Hardy,Cameron, I would agree only because it doesn't matter much. When you are talking about a guy who is clearly a worse hitter than anybody on the team outside of the pitchers, it is wrong.
  9. That's fine, but I think you are completely wrong. Go ahead and play that inferior player. In your lineups we would probably see Hall batting against RHP. Macha is giving Kendall an extra at bat today. Batting orders matter very little as long as you are not doing something really crazy like batting your worst hitter leadoff. Oh wait.
  10. They are. They looked at it in The Book and the top 30 match ups where batters owned pitchers from 1999-2002 came out as one thire each way in 2003.(pitcher owned hitter, batter continued to own pitcher, and hitter had normal stats) Same with the top 30 situations where pitchers owned batters. Completely useless. No predictive value at all.
  11. Kendall never leading off or batting above the 7 hole would be a good idea. Kendall leading off is, well, dumb. Anyone know what the wind is doing? Obviously blowing away Macha's calendar because he seems to think it is 2005. Fielder, Hart, and Kendall are the only Brewers batting over .300 versus Zambrano. Kendall has been slapping hits around for a few days. Those two things probably combined more towards Kendall leading off a lineup with no true leadoff hitter, more than Macha being a "complete dope." Nope, he's a dope. Individual batting match up numbers are completely meaningless. Counsell is fine as a lead off hitter against RHP.
  12. Sheets didn't become Sheets until 2004 and he was brought up in trade rumors every year after until last year. If the Brewers are going to trade for pitching longevity it would more likely be for unproven arms with upside. Seeing as how that probably wouldn't help us this year, I don't see a deal like that getting done in season unless we have a redundant player. The only guys who might fit that description are Salome or Lucroy.
  13. Even a good hitting pitcher is a worse option than almost any position player. Unless you want to give up an out, the pitcher should be pinch hit for.
  14. Hopefully Butler turns out to be a good prospect. I still miss Gross and never understood the trade. I think it hurt our team at the time and is still hurting us to this day. Gross and Kapler are both playing better than average defense. Link
  15. You are right it isn't. However Gallardo clearly is a young arm with very few innings last year.
  16. Unless Arizona plans on being bad for a few years, what would be their motivation to trade Haren? Whenever somebody brings up trying to acquire a young cheap starting pitcher, I think of how often Sheets was brought up in trade rumors. Why would somebody trade a pitcher that is more than a rental unless they plan on being terrible for several years?
  17. It isn't about how many pitches per start on average. 115+ in any given game isn't a big deal. 115+ in every single game would be bad.
  18. I think hats were brought up. Just the patch by itself that you could buy and put on any clothing you like. Sorry, probably not what you were really asking for. I think for the most part what you offer is pretty good. Moderator swimsuit calendar maybe?
  19. Brewerfan patches. I know those were brought up a year or two back.
  20. Gamel was hitting well until he was taken out of the lineup early this week. His Obp is .340 even with limited playing time. Bat him leadoff.
  21. The money on Hall is spent. Don't waste time letting him play if there is a better option. Don't compound the mistake by making another mistake.
  22. Macha's near allergy to bunting Macha bunts plenty with the pitchers. He rarely lets them hit with guys on base, 2nd or 3rd base open and fewer than 2 outs.
  23. I don't think the pitch count was the questionable part so much as letting Gallardo hit when we were down a run. The manager's job is to worry about this year and use the guys on the roster in the way which he thinks will win us the game on any given day. The GM's job is to worry about the future of the franchise and give the manager the guys to win in the current year.
  24. It's natural that Escobar and Gamel come up in trade talk. Just like it was Sheets coming up in trade talk most of the last 4 years he was with us.(excluding last year of course) They are not regular contributors on the MLB club. Most Brewers fans know that they are not going anywhere unless a can't pass up trade comes, but that is unlikely to happen. I am sure fans of other teams are thinking the same thing about some of their players who are getting mentioned in trade rumors.
  25. I find it very difficult to believe that a player on a good team would not want to win every game.
