  1. I think most people who like Weeks don't look at any streaks and see that he has a higher career OBP than the best one year OBP put up by anybody on our team outside of Braun, Fielder, and Kendall.
  2. Why aren't we looking at Jack Z as well? He drafted all these all hit no field guys we currently have on our roster. He also has been really bad at drafting pitchers.
  3. Yeah that's what I meant. I didn't write it as clearly as I should have. I might have been posting on my Wii at the time. I know it is no excuse. I know Braun currently has a higher OPS, but I think going forward Fielder will catch him. I actually checked the stats for the first time this weekend. I don't see much point in looking at them except to see how players are currently performing.
  4. No freezes so far on my Xbox360. I have played at least 3+ hours straight through without breaks twice.
  5. Weeks OBP and SLG also went up from 2006-2007 which in my opinion is way more important than BA. You can't predect anything from any 2 month sample of data so his stats so far my or may not be misleading. It would just be misguided to make any judgement on Weeks using only this years data and ignoring 2+ years worth of data. With his BA/OBP split, he makes a good leadoff hitter as a BB or HBP is almost equal to a single with nobody on base. It is reasonable to expect Weeks to carry a .360+ OBP if he can hit around .250. Weeks is currently getting on base at a .323 clip despite hitting only .193. His OBP is still better than superstar Braun.
  6. I never said anything about Fielder having a higher OPS than Braun before or after the Boston series. I was refering to the fact that despite Braun being a feel good story right now his OBP sucks. If Fielder has a couple good SLG games he will pass Braun in OPS. Taking into consideration the fact that OBP is more valuable than SLG it could be argued that Fielder is actually having a better year than Braun.
  7. I don't think it is safe to make any assumptions about Cameron.
  8. I think that if we want the in game managing to change, we need to change GMs first. I don't think we would get a manager much different than Yost as long as Melvin is doing the hiring. With that said, I don't feel the difference between managers is great enough to make any difference during the course of a year. I really feel that the only thing you can objectivley determine about managers in a style of managing, not quality of managing. The best you can do is hire a guy who's style you like. I also believe that if we watched every manager as closely as we watch Yost, we would find annoying faults with them as well.
  9. I guess I would be a little more excited with Braun if his OBP was higher than Weeks'. Maybe he is the team leader, maybe he isn't. Fielder has quietly put up a .372 OBP so far. He has a couple more games with HR and doubles and he is out OPSing Braun easily.
  10. I would recommend reading a book titled "The Book." They go over batting the pitcher 9th. It is not "crap" like you seem to think. Especially in the case of a high OBP, low SLG hitter like Kendall. Most games, especially with the short starts we have been getting from our pitching, pitchers don't hit more than 2-3 times per game, which means a pinch hitter wil be hitting in the pitcher's spot 2-3 times per game. We wouldn't be able to tell anything meaningful at this point only using the Brewers statistics from this year.
  11. This site has it as well. http://www.hardballtimes.com/
  12. See ball, hit ball. See beer cart, buy beer.
  13. I am sure most of those teams also had deep bulpens. When you don't have a deep pen, like we didn't last year, you waste your best reliever by confining him to the closer's role. Closers pitch the 9th inning and thats it. By not designating a closer you leave yourself with flexability to bring in your best guy whenever you need him. Just because it isn't being done doesn't make it wrong.
  14. That sounds so crazy I have no choice but to believe you. When is the last time Dunn sac bunted? Edit: Weeks, despite batting 7 points lower than Hall and 80 points lower than Braun, still has a higher OBP than either.
  15. I would like to see a GM not married to the "closer" designation who will hire a manager who thinks the same.
  16. That's all? I got the impression he was more like 2+ away. During spring training Melvin said that Rottino was the closest to being MLB ready in our system.
  17. Really? It is backloaded a lot less than I thought it would be. I was expecting $14m+ in the last couple years.
  18. I like the path the team took with Hart. I would like to see more of our prospects stay in the minors longer and come up a little more polished. Fielder, Weeks and Hardy all came up with major flaws in their game and would all have benifited from more time in AAA.
  19. I thought you were covering San Diego's AAA team. If the Brewers didn't take him back he would have been in AAA Portland. Or am I mistaken?
  20. Trade Pince now. We need to improve our infield defense. I am only half joking.
  21. We have plenty of room on the 40-man roster. We have 3 spots plus 2 spots taken up by Capuano and Gallardo who can be moved to the 60 day DL at any time since they are both probably done for the season. 5 spots total.
  22. Kendall has an option for next year that vests at 110 games.
