  1. You're close, but very simply "Droid" is a brand name for Motorola. And I do currently have a Droid with Verizon service, and it's the best phone I've ever had. It has the best battery life of any phone I've had since a very old Blackberry many years ago. That's one of the most important things to me, personally. Sorry, but that is false. Droid is not a brand name for Motorola. I actually owned an HTC Droid DNA. I was able to root it and install stock Android to get rid of Verizon's bloatware and be able to update at better frequencies. For the immediate future, it looks like Moto will be the sole provider for Verizon's Droid lineup, but the brand is definitely not owned and has not been exclusive to Moto. A quick Google search will bring you this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verizon_Droid
  2. The only woman who would be considered would be Kim Ng and I would guess she would at least get an interview.
  3. A couple of things from personal experience and from recent reviews I've read: 1- Droids are not the same as Androids. A lot of people call all Android phones Droids, but in reality Droid phones are a subset of devices (typically Motorola) that Verizon heavily controls and messes up. The closer to stock Android he better, so I would recommend staying away from Droid phones if you are on Verizon. 2- What kind of computers do you have around he house and at work? If you are Mac users, then this discussion is over, go with iPhone. It makes no sense to use Android. The other reason to consider iPhones is for ease of use. Apple supposedly fixes everything for you, which is why I recommended one for my mom...though she seems to have nothing but problems with hit they say that can't fix...maybe someone else can weigh in on this. 3- You mentioned using your phone for work. Does your work have certain security requirements? New iPhones have fingerprint scanners. Android is upgrading to this feature in another month or two, but if this is a requirement and you need to get the phone right now you may want to go with iPhone. 4- I'm an Android user. I find the notification system to be light years ahead of iPhone. I find iPhones to be clunky to operate and to slow me down in my day to day use for business. I feel like I can do a lot more with Android, but I am also a fairly technical person. If you are looking for a budget Android phone, I've ready nothing but good stuff about the new Moto G (2015). This phone has been labeled as best budget phone across the board for several iterations now. http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/11/moto-g-review-2015//
  4. I watched the first season and by accident I noticed it was on last night. My summer Sunday night viewing is the The Strain on FX and 2 shows from TNT; The Last Ship and Falling Skies. As I'm down with Rachel McAdams and liked season 1 I watched the first episode via On-Demand after I finished up The Strain last night just to see check out season 2. I was intrigued enough enough I was going to watch the 2nd episode but it wasn't in On-Demand for some reason, I briefly started the 3rd but after 5 minutes it was clear skipping an episode was a bad idea so my plan is to catch up on True Detective during the week. Almost all of my shows run on Sunday nights now so I usually watch 2 then catch up with the rest on the DVR later which is an issue with older Time Warner Cable's older DVRs like I have, I can only record 2 shows at once so anything more I'm recording the rerun later that night. Alcoholism seems like it's going to be a common theme again this season, but I'm definitely going to get caught up. I'm curious to hear how others feel about season 2. I'm enjoying it even if it's not as good as season one - thing is, you'd be hard pressed to ever match season one so I think some of the disappointment out there is due to lofty expectations. I think if this was the first season of a new show people would be fine with it. I never expected it to live up to Season 1. With that in mind, its very enjoyable television. There are things that bother me: overly complicated plot, Vince Vaughn's acting, several slow episodes that only advance the plot at the very end. I also don't like that it seems to be following a very similar timeline to Season 1, in that the first 3.5 episodes were story building with some eventual action payoff at the end of Episode 4 and a time skip in the middle. I will say, that action sequence at the end of E4 reminded me of why I love shows on HBO.
  5. Yea, baseball games have had stamina ratings and recovery rates for a long time. IIRC when you bring a pitcher back too soon they start with a lower stamina so they don't throw as well and cant throw for as long. I don't know if injuries are more likely but I would guess they are. But that is separate from a managerial rating. I'm not sure you could really make an accurate rating system though since as far as I know there isn't even a clear cut way to rate managers in real life.
  6. Prince.
  7. Ogilvie is for Metra only. Amtrak uses Union station. By far the easiest way to use Chicago's public transit is via Google Maps. You could also take the bus or water taxi from Union to make your trip to the redline shorter. And when at a bus stop, there is a number on the sign you can text to know how long it will take for the next bus to come. Works for the El too, though the loop stops and Addison have displays that estimate arrival times.
  8. So we can either lose 90 games with a $100 mil payroll or lose 90 games with a $60 mil payroll while spending additional funding on draft and development. Looks like we are going with 90 losses at $100 mil.
  9. All true, however, there are a lot of new guys that show up on occasion, only to be chased off by the regs that can't understand that there are others out there that know as much as they do... I love this site, but it tends to be pretty hard on new guys. Anyone that shows up here and doesn't have a thick skin can get discouraged from posting here pretty quickly... I don't know if I agree with this. I think it has a lot more to do with the new person's personality. If they come in with the attitude that they know as much or more than the rest of the board they are not going to be welcomed with open arms. But that's true of any social situation.
  10. The blue line from OHare, transfer to the redline then back out to Wrigley is a really long trip.
  11. Don't stay in Wrigleyville unless you want to party like a 20 year old Iowa student with his parents credit card. As others have said, anywhere along the redline makes it easy to get to Wrigleyville. I would suggest the south loop. Its quiet on the weekend, has lots of good food and entertainment, and has reasonable prices on hotels. You would be looking at the Jackson or Harrison redline stops. My fiancé works at the Field Museum and puts people up in the Congress Hotel a lot. It's a little outdated, but has a great location and price. There are other options on trip advisor as well in the $150-175 range and I've never heard of a 2 night minimum. Barring that, around the Chicago stop or if you can spend a little more, the Grand stop. That's the touristy part just north of the loop with lots of bars and restaurants. Quartino's is a good, decent priced Italian place in that area if you are looking for suggestions. If you want to get off the Redline (I wouldn't blame you, its basically a toilet for bums and Cubs fans) you can use Uber. Just download the app and it makes getting around the city super easy. Otherwise, there are cabs everywhere but they are a bit more expensive. Hope that helps, let me know if you have other questions. I've lived here for about 10 years now from Evanston to the loop to Wicker Park and now the south side.
  12. Red Line is in Skokie, IL. So you could taake the train. That's the yellow line, which requires a transfer at Howard. It's not difficult to figure out, but the transfer can take 10-20 minutes at times.
  13. We did a 8x4 raised planter bed for the first time. Planted 4 tomato plants, 4 zucchini, a couple cucumber, and some herbs. We ended up with basically only zucchini and tomatoes since everything else was choked out. This season I am going to push for green beans and maybe carrots. Whats the best bang for the buck in terms of food per space take up?
  14. It could also be the additional stress twice as many home games would place on the neighborhood. Bridgeport gets pretty busy during games and its not set up like Lakeview with bars and younger people everywhere.
  15. Depends on traffic, but if you take Metra/CTA or all CTA it would be much faster to go to the Southside of Chicago than Milwaukee. I would think the cutoff is somewhere around the border of Lake and Cook Countys. I would think the majority of Cubs fans are south of that line.
  16. YES!!! Soooooooo good! my favorite album of the year. Those on the board that is a fan of old school soul, should check them out. Saw them live a couple months ago. Not what I expected, but awesome nonetheless.
  17. You don't know who Prince is?

  19. The Royals also have arguably 3-4 starting pitchers that are better than anyone on the Brewers. So, there's that...
  20. People have been attacked when congregated in lines. They have not been attacked inside a sporing event. Again, the argument goes back to risk vs reward. Yes, there were lines before the metal detectors, but those were probably somewhat related to the previous levels of security. This all really goes back to the outrage the TSA has generated IMO. Its like we ate having a policical debate without having one because of board rules.
  21. So...If someone get's beat up in an airport parking lot or if someone sets off a bomb in an airport parking lot, then they should just do away with all the security that they currently have before you board a plane? Is this really the strawman argument you are going to make? I think the argument people are making here is pretty basic and straight forward. Causing people to congregate in order to get into a safe area makes them more vulnerable in that new chokepoint. Its a simple risk vs reward. If the reward of making them safe in the secure area outweighs the additional risk they face waiting to get into the safe area its a good idea. If the reward of making them safe in the secure area does not outweigh the additional risk faced (as seems to be the case at MLB stadiums and TSA waiting areas) then the program should be evaluated at the very least.
  22. Maybe not, but it had something to do with us getting intimidated out of the NLCS against LaRussa.
  23. I see this a lot, and I think it's what contributes to the idea of a double standard that jjfanec was talking about. Apple may have tried, and in some cases succeded, to patent the candy bar form factor, touch screen phone...but they did not invent it. The iPhone was the best version of that type of phone when it came out, and its popularity did forever change the industry, but it wasn't the first and they didn't invent it. I was using a touch screen candybar style phone before the iPhone came out, just like I was using a tablet before the iPad came out.
  24. Both you and Bani1717 made a similar argument, and it's one that often pops up when talking about matters of security. Whatever we're doing is pointless because people who really want to kill people can just do it another way essentially. A-Terrorists do things to terrorize people. What do you think is gong to have a bigger headline, ______ from the Milwaukee Brewers shot dead on field, or fan killed outside stadium? Or how about the headline, "50 fans killed/wounded while defensless and packed together outside stadium waiting to get in".
  25. Agreed, the difference between the two now really is just what ecosystem you are connected to. If you want something different, and in my opinion better especially in terms of value, get in on the Nexus program or even the MotoX.
