  1. No, he used to post at another Brewer site I'm a regular at. Give him time to log back in and he will defend that position as he has been saying it for a while.
  2. Ah, I know allude vs. elude. This darn head cold is making me stupider and grumpy.
  3. Whatever you do, don't elude to the Brewers not contending next year. Knock it off. You didn't elude, you definitively told. His situation is nothing like yours. Is it really that hard for you to understand that, or are you just going to continue to make snide remarks since none of us homers can handle how real you keep it?
  4. The Amtrak is probably easiest, though you have to walk through the loop (a nice walk actually provided you exit Union Station out of the north end since Wacker Drive is torn up at Jackson St still) to the Red line and take it for 20-30 min north. If you can drive part of the way, you can get on the Purple line. I wouldn't really recommend the Metra, that's just too much work in my opinion since you would have to drive, park, get on the Metra, then still walk through the loop to the Redline.
  5. How do the KBB prices differ?
  6. Have you ever heard RRR glow about Gamel's ability at 1B anywhere near what he has said about Hart at 1B? IIRC, RRR called Hart a "game changer" at 1B, and didn't Melvin or RRR say that Hart is the leader for the 1B job next year? Isn't that what started this whole Gamel debate? Is this supposed to be in blue? You're going to rely on manager speak, especially from RRR? This is a guy who thinks a good bunter in the two hole is a "game changer."
  7. Its also the perfect way to get in 20 oz of vodka.

  9. Thanks! I hate to admit that some days I only get to skim posts and having paragraphs with proper sentences makes it much easier.
  10. I'd be pretty happy if he gets to around 160 as you suggest. That sets him up for around 190 IP next year when I would be happy to see us contend for the playoffs with a young pitching staff. Then in 2014 he and some of the other young guys will be ready to throw into the 200s should we go to the playoffs.
  11. 1)Nobody knows what their bottom line for payroll will be. I can't stand the arguments that "payroll wont be an issue" or that "what would we spend that money on anyway." There is always a way that money can be used for future talent. Take on salary in the short term to get a prospect in a trade. Spend it on player development (latin signing bonuses). Now some draft picks can be traded so buy an extra for next year. 2)How can you possibly say Hart is a better defensive 1B than Gamel at this point?
  12. And those half a season of PAs have been spread out too thin to say he has been horrible. Wait, what? Yes he has. With the rest of our lineup, I'd gladly take an Overbay-type (though I believe Mat's upside is higher than that). That's basically what Hart has provided us with this year, but Gamel could give us that for 1/20th the cost.
  13. Well he switched to 1B mostly because of his decline in ability to play RF. That switch in and of itself has caused a decline in his value. He will probably be a 2.5-3 WAR player this year. That's a decline and its played out right in front of us so I don't know how you can't see it. In addition, we've seen him just "lose it" for more than just a bad month or two. Fair or not, that's always going to stick around in the back of people's minds. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I really don't think Hart is that bad at all in RF, especially when watching some of the guys that other teams put out there. I saw the reason for the switch to 1B more to take over for Green/Ishakawa who were dreadful/hurt, while opening up a regular role for Aoki. We aren't going to agree on his defense then, but then I'll just say that if other GMs feel the way you do, Hart has more value to that team and should be traded.

  15. This is a much better way to present your opinion. But no, he didn't not like your opinion. He (and nearly every other poster here who refutes or mocks your posting style) didn't like the way you presented it or the extreme to which you went. At this point I don't see you being able to understand this, so I'm going to just move on but I hope you realize that if this many people are questioning the way you present some of your ideas, maybe there is something you could change.
  16. Sure, thats what motivated my reply, but you just dismissed it. I will quote it again on the off chance you will actually absorb something someone else says.
  17. Its not an infatuation, its just that to me he hasn't gotten the proper opportunities at the big league level to say he is a failed prospect or that we need to cut ties. I would like to see him get that opportunity. Yes, I realize he should have gotten it this year but he got hurt. I don't think that means he shouldn't get another shot.
  18. There is no indication that Gamel is a suitable replacement for Hart or that Gamel has a high ceiling. Well, except scouting reports and his minor league stats.
  19. ^ this Stop backing up your absolute statements by saying other posters are homers or can't face facts. If you can't see the difference between the post you quoted by monty and your original post I don't know what to tell you. I think the opinion you have in your head is probably the same as mine, you just present it so poorly that people have no choice but to disagree. Then when they try to lay that out, you gloss over it and make snide remarks about them. Come on.
  20. For that matter, could people attempt to capitalize and use somewhat correct grammar? Not trying to be a grammar Nazi or saying everything should be perfect, its just that lately this board is like reading a series of txt messages!!!! There has to be an in between, and lately I find myself just skipping most posts by certain users when they may have valuable insight.
  21. Its just in Chicago now every August. Black Keys play tonight. Red Hot Chilly Peppers tomorrow, and Jack White on Sunday. I'm off to see The Shins now.
  22. Anyone headed to Chicago for Lollapalooza this weekend? I'll be there Fri and Sat. This will be the first time in 5 years I didn't get a 3 day pass, but oh well. Looks to be perfect weather.
  23. Dave Bush's win in the playoffs is number 1 for me since it took so long to see a playoff win. A close second is probably Nolan Ryan's 300th win. When I was super young, I also remember seeing an inning where we scored 13 or 14 runs against the Angles.
  24. Dude, just read what people actually type. This is one of the few times someone here can speak in absolutes, you interject your own thoughts into other people's posts. Can we move on? This isn't something we need to debate.
  25. I'm seeing 125 IPs 2 years ago. In that case, I would push him to around 150 this season.
