  1. For Sheets, it makes sense for him to sign a 1 year deal so he can up his value for next year. He could increase his value 4 fold for free agency next year if he put together a good, healthy year. He might be regretting the decline in arbitration.
  2. I bet Pittsburgh is regretting passing up Jack Z as their GM a couple years back.
  3. Tomorrow will be a perfect work from home day. Since my commute is about 35 miles to work, I need to take advantage of that or I'd be on a first name basis with the local towing businesses.
  4. If we put up with Estrada's defense for a full year, I think Salome's could be tolerated. Especially with that kind of bat.
  5. Getting McClouth would be buying high. He might have had a career year in 2008. I wouldn't bet on him putting up the same numbers in 2009.
  6. Yes but the context of this thread is the Vent Thread. It's ok to enforce your "Graduate School" mentality on the rest of the site, but having one thread to vent I don't think is a burden, but that is just my opinion. I'm done now.
  7. Point taken, but what I'm trying to say is we're all fans here and with that comes emotion. When I go to work everyday I have to think objectively and be intelligent. It's nice to have a break from that sometimes. The vent thread is a great place for that especially after a gut wrenching loss.
  8. Last time I checked the name of this site was brewerFAN.net with the "FAN" part emphasized. Since fan is short for fanatic, I find that statement in paradox. Fanatics usually aren't objective. Heck, we're all bias in some way towards the Brewers. It is good to focus on objectivity, but trying to enforce it throughout the site by eliminating the vent thread is exactly what FTJ is referrring to: "Missing the Mark."
  9. If the Yankees are planning on putting Johnny Damon in CF, that's pretty funny. No range and no arm aren't a good combination in your most important defensive position.
  10. It sounds like Furcal is a Dodger now.
  11. I can't wait for his 84 mph fastball. If he makes the rotation, we are in trouble.
  12. If he pitched as a 3.70 ERA pitcher next year, I'd be satisfied. That is a top of the rotation type pitcher and well worth Escobar.
  13. Miracles can happen!
  14. http://insider.espn.go.co...?univLogin02=stateChanged Hilarious. The Tigers have been in contact recently with the agent for free-agent right-hander Derrick Turnbow, the Detroit Free Press reported. Turnbow earned 63 saves for Milwaukee in 2005-06. Turnbow, who turns 31 on Jan. 25, pitched in only eight games this year because of right shoulder trouble and control problems. He walked in 6 1/3 innings.
  15. I'm canceling my season tickets if this trade goes through.
  16. It partially caught up to them this year as they missed the playoffs and had too much salary on the books to make any impact moves before the deadline, but with all of those deadbeat contracts coming off the books this year, the Yankees seemed to have not learned their lesson and have started the spending all over again. So you answer your question, yes, they are hurting themselves in the long term, but in the short term that may not be so.
  17. But why would you downgrade the most important position on the field that can help pitcher's ERA's significantly with Cameron quality defense? There aren't any CF's on the market as good as Cameron and 9.5 million gets you another Jeff Suppan.
  18. The 9.5 million still doesn't make it worth it. The 2001 Brewers salary dumped. This team shouldn't be doing that.
  19. What a garbage trade. Melvin isn't stupid enough to deal Cameron for Melky. If he is, then he deserves to get fired.
  20. I'd go the trade route. Either the pitchers are too expensive or just plain not that good.
  21. We aren't going to get Wood or Fuentes. They're too expensive. JJ Putz might be an option though via trade.
  22. I'm glad we didn't get involved.
  23. It wouldn't have been too bad for the Twins either. Solving your 3B problems for 3 years and 17 million doesn't seem that bad. It's better than the Bill Hall contract.
