  1. Obviously, that is something the Brewers coaching staff would monitor. It might be a case of skipping him in the rotation 7 or 8 times throughout the season... (haven't done the math, just threw out those numbers, maybe it's 8-10 times, maybe more)
  2. If she got this position because she was the most qualified, good for her. What gender you are shouldn't matter as long as the most qualified person gets the job. If she got this position because she is a woman, that is an entirely different story...
  3. So are we counting 2020 or not? A lot of people say we can't count anything that happened in 2020 because, well, it was 2020. Now some are saying to look at 2020 to determine if the Reds were successful... Which is it? Count it if it makes another team look bad or a Brewers player look good. Discount it if it makes the Brewers or any of their players look bad. Duh. Sometimes, that is how it seems...
  4. So are we counting 2020 or not? A lot of people say we can't count anything that happened in 2020 because, well, it was 2020. Now some are saying to look at 2020 to determine if the Reds were successful... Which is it?
  5. Signing Turner will guarantee us the division! Doing nothing will guarantee we won't win the division...
  6. ...and here come the Cubs. Not that Pederson and Williams are enough to turn their tides, but both of those guys are far better than anything we have done to this point. It shows signs of life at least, even though they looked like they were throwing in the towel, now it appears they plan to at least stay competitve in the division. We could use both of those guys.
  7. After reflecting, for me, I think part of the issue is that he went to the Cardinals... Had he went to the White Sox or even the Braves, I don't think it brings on the feelings of doom that it has for some. It's the freaking Cardinals man, our arch rivalry. If this only works out well for them for the first 2 or 3 years of his deal, it is still ebnough to cause us many issues over that same time period. The Cardinals will always be the Cardinals, and everytime they do something that might hinder our chances, it just feels gross.
  8. Something tells me that the Cardinals aren't done yet either... They surely can see what the other clubs in the central have done (nothing) so if they make a couple other moves, they could take a commanding lead in the "favored" catagory. (which really means nothing, that's why the games are played) It feels like the only way we can take them is to now try and catch up, and there aren't any players out there in our range that makes that very possible. (free agents) Turner would now seem like a move to make just to stay even with St. Louis, not overtake them. I just wonder if we don't have some kind of trade coming our way in the near future?
  9. Come on, do we really believe that? I think we all know darn well the ratio of excited people to the "I wish we hadn't done this" crowd would be at least 90/10 in favor of those excited about it if we had pulled this same deal off. & how many of those excited people would be dreading owing him 165 million over the next 7 years after he had a bad April? But what if he had a GREAT April?
  10. Well, that is a positive spin I can get behind. We should never forget that we are lucky to have baseball, even if it is bad baseball. The first part of the 2020 season was painful not having baseball of any kind. Even though 2020 was a boring, horrible season, at least we got to watch some baseball...
  11. If we plan to do that, then just tell the fan base that is the deal... I think this team could be close to something special, but no 1B and no 3B 3 weeks away from spring traing is maddening. I don't view this team as it sits to be in teardown mode, but if that is what they are thinking, then just freaking do it already. Yelich would be wasted in that scenario, so maybe the smart thing to do is dump him too... I have never been on board with this line of thinking, but geez.
  12. If being attached to a few players means that we made a phone call to an agent about a given player, then the agent used us as a pawn to get his client more money, then ok, we were attached to a few players. I just get sick of our name being "attached" to a player, then as a fan, knowing full well it means nothing. Gets old. Ok, well, Gyorko iis still out there I guess...
  13. With the move the Cards just made, I think it pretty much cements Turner returning to the Dodgers. Unless MA thinks we now have to overpay to try and keep up with St. Louis, and we sign Turner tomorrow... *sigh*
  14. The Cardinals taking a positive step towards winning the Central, while we sign guys like Pablo Reyes, Dylan Cozens, Hoby Milner, Luke Maile, Daniel Robertson, Blaine Hardy, and resign Jace Peterson... Oh, and claiming Tim Lopes, that ought to even us out with the Cardinals... How can I forget adding Arcia another year for 2 million. Very productive off season for the Crew, what am I complaining about?
  15. People actually rying to act like this was a bad move for the Cardinals? People finding ways to say that Arenado is in decline, etc... LOL Sometimes, the homerism is just too much to take... I guess that is just how some people can talk themselves into thinking the Cards got screwed, or whatever, but seriously, had we made this deal, people here would have been over the moon with joy. Since it wasn't us, it has to be a bad deal, right? *shaking head*
  16. ...and the Brewers with a better shot at the playoffs too. Well, maybe, who really knows. Disappointing. He probably had no interest in playing 1B.
  17. Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Braves are one of the teams to "check in" on Justin Turner. Heyman had previously named the Brewers as one of two "mystery teams" in on Turner, and it would appear that the Braves are the other club. However, Heyman notes that the Dodgers are still viewed as a "heavy favorite" for the third baseman. He's seeking a four-year contract. 18. Welp, there goes that idea... Pickings getting slimmer and slimmer. Lookimg forward to seeing how much he gets paid.
  19. Probably depends on what they told Yates....If they told him that he is the closer when they signed him, then it would be an issue for certain...
  20. Again, all this Rosario to 1B speculation... Anybody seen anything besides fan-speak as to whether he would even want to play 1B? If that is what we want him for, and I'm not convinced of that, maybe he'd prefer to play someplace else where he won't have to learn a new position. Asking him to play 1B might just steer him away from us if he would rather not do so.
  21. Is Cron over his season ending injury from 2020? C.J. Cron (knee) has been cleared for all baseball activities. Cron required season-ending surgery back in mid-August after suffering a dislocated left kneecap and was limited to only 13 total games with the Tigers in 2020, during which he tallied four home runs and eight RBI. The 31-year-old slugger officially became a free agent in November and is probably still waiting for a decision on whether the universal DH will remain intact for 2021, like many other players of his ilk. 22. Does anyone even know if he'd be open to playing 1B? Seems like a lot of speculation going on...
  23. Come on, man, how long have you been a Brewer fan? Making moves like that is 100% in their playbook. That doesn't mean it's a good idea, how many times has it worked out for us? I mean really worked out? It's in our playbook because we are always desperate for a 1B. Why do we not address that position in the draft?
  24. Doesn't make a lot of sense for a team that seems to have given up on the 2021 season...
  25. I'd take Turner over Bryant if we are talking 2 years...
