  1. Tom thinks every player is out of the Brewers price range. well, the good ones basically are... sorry to say.
  2. damn it! This is the guy I want.
  3. NOT if we are on the hook for 48 million or more.
  4. Not sure if it's been mentioned in the thread but I'm fairly certain I saw either a tweet or report that he can opt out after year 5. So if he's elite for 5 years he's definitely going to opt out and make even more money. So you think that after 5 years, he will still be good enough to get a new contract worth more than 36 million per season?
  5. It's depressing to see some of the names that people are willing to accept on this roster for 2020. So we get to pick through the scraps just hoping and praying one of them has a serviceable season. It's actually mood altering depressing...
  6. So then we'd only owe Price 81 million over the next 3 seasons? PASS!
  7. Trading those players for a guy we'd have for 2 years would be too damaging to our future. It' looks like you answered your own question.
  8. Trading our future starting rotation of Small, Rasmussen or Ashby would be a giant mistake. We saw today that we can't buy a TOR, we simply don't have the resources to purchase our rotation. We have to grow it, and trading any of the 3 I mentioned means we'll be stuck in rotation hell for another decade.
  9. 3 years, 96 million for Price. How much would the Red Sox have to pay before we could even consider it? 50%, then it would still be 3 years 48 million. Not happening.
  10. So you don't think Strasburg couldn't be had for about 4/120?? 5 for 150?? The way things are going -- probably not. 5/150 is probably the minimum right now. Six and $180 is more realistic. this did not age well...lol
  11. But we have no way of knowing if that were actually true... Lots of speculation assumes this is how it works, but we don't KNOW it for sure.
  12. No one is saying "just" go out and draft your own ace. Everyone knows that is easier said than done. We simply can't buy an ace, so we are left with 2 ways to get one. Trade for one, or develop your own. Neither is an easy solution, so teams like the Brewers are left to figure out other ways to try and win. It is a sad state of affairs.
  13. I say billfold.
  14. Which is why we can't afford to trade guys like Small, Ashby, Rasmussen, etc. for offense. We just can't sign the top FA pitchers. We have to develop our own, and that is something we just have never been able to do consistently. I know the Yankees take a lot of the blame for signings like this, however, they are not breaking any rules. This is a MLB issue, not a Yankees issue. It's broken, and needs to be fixed, but that will never be allowed by the player's union, or the large market teams. Basically, we are screwed, now, always and forever.
  15. That is SHOCKING!
  16. You can't be serious, right?? They need a LEGIT #2 at worst, none of those guys are even solid #4's. How do any of them improve the rotation significantly?? They might as well light their money on fire. If that is your thought process, I hope you are fully prepared for disappointment. Just be willing to say “bad on me” when Miley pitches like a solid #2 for the Brewers next year Lightning in a bottle twice? I'll take that bet...
  17. ummmm, have you seen what would be owed to Price? 3 years, 96 million dollars. Even if the red sox picked up half that salary, 3 years 48 million? No freaking way.
  18. yup, just guys. off topic. Joey, I have been on this site 10 years longer than you and you have only 900 or so posts less than me. I think you may have the fastest post count ever, I mean EVER.
  19. There is no way I can spin that trade to make it look good for us. None. BIG HARD PASS!
  20. I've long given up on them actually using those to honor players. More likely we get a 16th Ryan Braun. That they haven't ever done Jeff Cirillo in the 90s uni is a real crock. I'm not sure they've done a single bobble in Motre Bame logo. It's an ugly logo, but should still have at least one. Maybe Vaughn was? Not looking at it atm. Yup, Vaughn had the 90's logo. He is the only one so far.
  21. Assuming he retires a Brewer. I can see him playing a couple extra years, possibly as a DH for an American League team. If he is willing to take a pay cut, I'm sure there will be a market for his bat...
  22. Let's just be thankful that most of the posters here are not the GM.
  23. Has Gregorius ever played 3B? So explain this to me please. If we signed Didi to play SS, moving Urias to 3B, would it matter where either played. Didi at SS, Urias at 3B. Both still hit so does it matter where they play? Urias at SS, Didi at 3B....Both still hit, so does it matter where they play? If Urias doesn't have the bat to play at 3B, and he plays SS while Didi plays 3B, does it matter, they are both still in the line-up, so why does it matter that one or the other doesn't have the bat to play the 3B position?
  24. Clancy, this isn't funny, untie SRB and step away from the keyboard.
