  1. Again, to stay above the level you're dragging this down to, there are other ways to have roster flexibility other than having a guy who plays every position. A good start is having your #1 utility guy being someone who has elite capability at the most important defensive position. again, you said that Arcia was this year's Perez, even though Arcia only plays one position, and Perez could play all 9. Whatever, save the board from reading anymore of this argument, you may have the last word now...
  2. So Arcia playing one position is a good comparison to Perez, who played them all? Ok then...
  3. lol I'm not defending him as much as I am defending the attack on a poster for his opinion, even if it is pretty far off base. You lumping me into his thought process is asinine. I am not unhappy with anything that has happened, I don't see the sky as falling. Actually, that is not totally true. I wanted Moose back, it makes me unhappy he left, but no way should we or could we pay him what he got from the Reds. I'm sad he is gone, but that is the ay it rolls, happy we didn't pay him that contract. Also unhappy we let Jimmy Nelson go and really hope we get him back at a cheaper price. As I have said, I am going to play the waiting game. I'm going to sit back and see what transpires before passing judgement on anyone, from David Stearns right down to any of the dopey posters on this board. Plenty of time for things to happen, or not happen.
  4. Look away...
  5. There's not only room for a big time pitcher, there's room for Rendon too. If they signed Rendon and Wheeler, they could fill in the rest of the roster with castoffs and reclamation projects. I sure hope Stearns is in serious negotiations with at least two top end FA and we'll hear a big signing announced within the next 10 days. Gotta wonder what's going through the mind of someone like Yelich right now. Practically the entire 2019 roster is gone. Hell, why go with Wheeler when we can get Strasburg and Rendon?
  6. Umm, history is on the side of those who are expecting significant additions to come. The complainers (like you presumably) fearing that nothing is going to happen are batting a tidy .000 when factoring in offseasons and trade deadlines. It's like some here have the memories of goldfish or something. haven't complained yet, I am taking the wait and see approach. I think some big moves are still coming, but I can't say for certain that the original poster isn't on to something, nor can the rest of you who are so quick to ridicule him. we'll see what happens.
  7. Arcia will be our emergency catcher, relief pitcher, outfielder, and all other infield positions?
  8. You all sound like a bunch of blow-hards! Original poster, yeah we know all about him and his shenanigans, but those who are acting like you know for 100% sure what is going to happen with payroll, signings, etc. are no better. Let's just see what happens...
  9. People who do not properly scrape the frost or snow/ice from their windshields BEFORE they hit the roads... I realize it is a bummer to have to scrape your windows, and I realize that not everyone has a garage, but to the people who do not do this before they leave, you are putting all those around you on the roads at risk. I see people that scrape a 12" square on their front windshield so they can barely see out. They don't take the time to scrape the other windows, just that small patch in the front. These same people are hugging the steering wheel, crouched over so they can see out that 12" square. It's asinine and ridiculous, and dangerous as hell. If there was ever a time when I'm driving that I'd like to slap someone, this would be it. Would be nice if the police would start pulling these maniacs over and writing them tickets.
  10. This is economics 101 supply and demand. Why is it so hard for the news outlets to understand this? Fake news...
  11. https://popflybaseball.blogspot.com/2019/11/off-season-to-do-list-national-league_30.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR2hpitzvXpor2PGrwV4zdQ6o5LCdMLJIY57-Ax0LW8faTLioXdJ9KIpZJY
  12. Please, please, please, do NOT trade Ethan Small for this guy. PLEASE?
  13. Wal-Mart is my least favorite store to shop. I avoid it all all costs. It used to be a monthly trip, now it is maybe once per year. Just hate it!
  14. Or how about Strasburg as #1 and Woody #2? That I can get behind. We NEED another TOR arm, without it, we can only hope to contend as far as the pitching goes...
  15. Wait, you think the current 2020 team is already better than the 2019 team? We lost Grandal, and probably Moose, and you think the way the team sits right now, on November 28th, with no 1B, 3B, and a major hit to the catcher position, is better? ummm k.
  16. The thought of Rendon and Yelich in the same line-up makes me giddy! Then I realize that it won't happen, and I am no longer giddy.
  17. That the Jesus ship sail. he was crap while he was here in 2019, he was crap after he left. Let him be someone else's problem, turn the page.
  18. Meh, rampant speculation. Let it play out, we have years to figure it out. Hell, by that time, the NL could have a DH, Hiura mans that spot, while Urias moves over to 2B for Turang to take over at SS. It is beyond silly to think anything has changed in the way the Brewers view Turang and his future due to the Urias trade. It's just too far out and a lot of things can happen by that time.
  19. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Diamondbacks have signed catcher Stephen Vogt to a one-year contract. The deal also carries a vesting option for the 2021 campaign. No word yet on the financial terms. Vogt, 35, reportedly drew interest from several teams this offseason after posting a strong .804 OPS with 10 home runs and 40 RBI over 99 games (56 starts) with the Giants in 2019. The veteran catcher will presumably serve as the primary backup to Carson Kelly next year in Arizona. Source: Jeff Passan on Twitter Nov 26, 2019, 6:17 PM ET
  20. I hope it not Josh being moved A Hader/Lutz-for-Mejia/Morejon/Lauer deal would be a good one for the Crew, I think. Solidifies catcher for three years, and two more young starters, one of whom looks to be a potential ace/TOR. No freaking way!
  21. If we roll with Arcia, which I fully expect is our plan, then we have the bottom 1/3 of our order as absolute crap. 7. Pina 8. Arcia 9. Pitcher (unless it's a Woodruff start...lol) That is just yucky.
  22. Ladies and gentlemen, I present, David Stearns! Welcome!
