  1. The Dodgers roster is now even batter than last year's, and they won the World Series. If I could follow through (and I know I can't) this is the time to leave the game as a fan. It's 100% deflating as a fan of a team that can't compete financially. Just disgusting.
  2. This is "OUR" Roki Sasaki signing.
  3. Pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Everyone knew where he was going. The rich continue to get richer in MLB.
  4. Great, sign me up! Would love a year with a guy like Alonso at 1B!
  5. Sadly, he would laugh at that offer.
  6. Lock this thread down, we all knew what was going to happen... He has just become a guy I can easily root against. F the Dodgers, so tired of of being a small market fan. Roki Sasaki announced on his Instagram account on Friday that he will be signing with the Dodgers. The Padres were informed earlier in the day that they were out of the sweepstakes, so it came down to the Dodgers and the Blue Jays. The Jays acquired extra international bonus pool money from the Guardians mid-afternoon, but it doesn’t appear to have been enough to push them over the top. Sasaki will join a ridiculously talented Dodgers’ rotation that already features countrymen Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani along with Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell. On paper, the Dodgers are already a much stronger team than the squad that just won the World Series back in October. Source: Alden Gonzalez
  7. What a complete freaking joke.
  8. Welcome to the LA Dodgers Roki Sasaki... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
  9. Using up money that could instead be spent on Roki Sasaki, the Padres are following through on their commitments to sign top international prospects Carlos Alvarez and Jhoan De La Cruz, according to Francys Romero. Romero has sources telling him the Padres learned Sasaki would be signing elsewhere. It follows that these deals would be getting done if that’s the case. These two signings are set to take up at least $2 million and maybe closer to $3 million of the Padres’ $6.26 million signing pool. It wouldn’t rule out a Sasaki signing, but the reason those deals weren’t finalized on Jan. 15, as so many international signings were, was because the Padres were waiting to learn if they’d be spending most of their signing pool on Sasaki. 10. The latest: The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports Pete Alonso rejected a three-year contract offer from the Mets in the $68-70 million range. Sherman adds that the Mets have already begun to pivot away from the Polar Bear by re-signing Jesse Winker to a one-year, $7.5 million contract and will make a run at signing lefty closer Tanner Scott, the top reliever left on the open market. We can’t totally dismiss the possibility that Alonso or the Mets make a last-ditch effort in the coming weeks, but it sounds increasingly unlikely that he’s going to return to New York. Sherman notes that barring a last-minute reversal, New York is planning to move Mark Vientos to first base with Luisangel Acuña, Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio battling for the starting job at the hot corner. 11. If the Mets are truly out, why not check in and see what's going on? He is just too perfect of a fit I guess... Hoskins can be the normal DH, taking the bench on days that Yelich and Contreras need to be there. I know, I know, the $$$ it will take makes it impossible, but like I said, a guy can dream... SNY’s Andy Martino reported that the Mets “now consider it the most likely outcome that [Pete] Alonso will sign elsewhere.” The Mets just re-signed Jesse Winker to a one-year, $8 million contract. Martino believes that this means “The Mets have pivoted to plan B, post-Alonso.” Adding Winker wouldn’t seem to preclude the Mets from bringing back Alonso to play first base with Mark Vientos at third base; however, Martino seems less convinced that it remains a possibility. If the Mets are truly out on Alonso that seems to leave on the Blue Jays as a potential option for the slugger. Source: Andy Martino
  12. It will serve the Cowboys right to hire Coach Prime and his drama infused media frenzy nonsense.
  13. What a bummer... Rest In Peace Ueck...
  14. Love that he is making the damn Dodgers and Padres work for it! Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Dodgers and Padres have been reaching out to other teams in an effort to acquire international bonus pool money. It sounds like both teams are attempting to add to the amount that they are able to offer Roki Sasaki in an effort to influence his decision. It’s unclear if the Blue Jays are doing the same thing, as Feinsand notes that are several teams looking to acquire bonus pool funds, and not just the teams that you would expect. The 23-year-old right-hander has until January 23 to finalize his decision, but with each passing day the parties involved risk losing out on other international free agents that they had agreements with. 15. Entitlement in general. Example: Tonight, pulled in to Kwik Trip, and noticed a car pull in the handicap parking spot. Young girl, between the ages of 18-22 imo, gets out, and runs in the store. I get out of my car, walk over to the van she was driving. Nothing hanging on the mirror, nothing on the license plates, obviously, this girl just thinks she can do as she pleases. Pissed me off, but I've seen it before. I walk in the store, there she is at the cold sandwich display. I don't normally do this, in fact, I can say I've never confronted a person in public before, but the need to say something to this person was so strong that I simply walked up to her, said very calmly, "you know, you aren't supposed to park in a handicap spot if you aren't handicapped or disabled. I can see you are neither." She didn't even look in my direction, acted as disinterested as humanly possible, and said "really?" and continued looking over the sandwiches. I said "really, someone could actually need that spot, and here you are. healthy and not caring" Her response: "Are you done yet?" Again, not even looking in my direction, just not giving a crap that she has done something so despicable that a random stranger feels the need to call her out. I said "so you don't even care, you think you can just break the law, and you simply don't care?" Her answer: "Nope, I don't care" You guessed it, she didn't even look in my direction. At this point, nothing I can do or say without really causing a scene, so I said "you should care." and as I walked away, a dude standing there watching this transpire says "she really parked in a handicap spot?" I said yup, and she doesn't care. He stared at her for a few seconds, shakes his head and walks away... Just a nasty, disgusting person... I'm glad I said something, even though it didn't change anything.
  16. I'm just hoping that a team that has never won it before, finally wins the Super Bowl. Especially now that my team is out of it. I'd be fine with the Lions winning it, in fact, I'm hoping they do now that the Vikings appear to be done. I'd be extra happy with the Bills or Texans winning it, especially if that means the Chiefs don't. I am rooting against two teams, the Chiefs and the Eagles. After that, I don't care all that much, but like I said above, let it be a team that hasn't won it before...
  17. Baseball America’s Ben Badler reports the Dodgers and Padres are the most likely landing spots for Roki Sasaki. According to multiple reports, the Rangers, Yankees, Giants and Mets no longer appear to be in the mix. The Blue Jays remain the biggest X-factor left in the running since Sasaki has met with the club and there’s zero indication they’re out of the running. The NL west rival Dodgers and Padres have long been viewed as the favorites to sign the 23-year-old Japanese phenom with Badler’s latest report echoing that belief. We got an early indication that Los Angeles is a clear finalist in the Sasaki derby last week when they lost top international prospect Darell Morel to the Pirates. Sasaki is expected to make a final decision in the coming days once the international signing period officially kicks off. Source: Baseball America
  18. Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports reports the Rangers have been told they’re unlikely to sign Roki Sasaki. The Rangers, Yankees and Giants are out of the Sasaki sweepstakes, while the Mets are also considered unlikely to sign with Japanese phenom. The Dodgers, Padres and Blue Jays seem like the most logical destinations with less than 48 hours left until the international signing period opens. Source: Jeff Wilson
  19. New York Post’s Joel Sherman reported that the Mets have been told they;re out on Roki Sasaki. So far on Monday, Sasaki and his team have told the Mets, Yankees, and Giants that they are no longer in the running. The Mets always seemed like they’d have an uphill battle to land Sasaki, but being out of the running is a big blow for them. With Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea at the top of their rotation, the Mets could really use an ace and Sasaki is the the best option remaining on the free agent market Source: Joel Sherman
  20. According to YES Network’s Jack Curry, Roki Sasaki told the Yankees that he would not be signing with them. The Yankees join the Giants and Mets as a team that has been eliminated from contention for the Japanese right-hander today. The Yankees already have a full rotation plus Marcus Stroman, who they are dangling in trade talks, so this doesn’t impact the strength of their pitching in 2025, but they obviously would have liked to have signed a player as talented as Sasaki. Source: Jack Curry
  21. According to Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard, the “Giants have been told Roki Sasaki will not sign with them.” Sasaki and his team have entered the final stages of their prolonged off-season schedule as the 23-year-old star can sign with a team starting on Wednesday. It wouldn’t be a surprise to hear other teams begin to be eliminated from contention, but it seems like the Dodgers, Padres, and Blue Jays are the top contenders for now. Source: Tim Kawakami
  22. I saw someplace that the Yankees are now interested in Kim. Of course they are...
  23. He actually said he would do this for the Mets only. He isn't ready to do that for just any team.....yet.
