  1. That's crazy awesome. I wish I had a PS3! Is there anyway to see what the screenshots of MLB The Show '09 might look like on PS2? I know it won't nearly be as good, but I'm still curious.
  2. I voted...Spotted Cow sounds good to me!
  3. I think Chipper Jones and Jordan Schaefer/Tommy Hansen would be a fair return for Jim Powell. However, I may be undervaluing Powell somewhat.
  4. Is it just me, or does he look a little bit like Carlos Zambrano?
  5. I'm fairly certain that Francueour wasn't merely sent to AAA, but he was sent down to AA. I remember how much press it got. I believe Franceour was quite upset about it too.
  6. It was after every half inning. It was something like "Baseball presented by/brought to you by Kohl's...it's the Brewers 0 and and the Cubs 0" or something like that. It got annoying to say the least.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I may actually do that. Now that you mention it, if I am displeased with the service I receive at a particular store, maybe I can pull a classic Yost on the store manager, saying choice words while doing a 360 degree spin...thanks Brian!
  8. I received a Brewers Therma Base Premier Jacket by Majestic. I like it a lot. I feel like I'm qualified to be the Brewers manager now.
  9. This is just garbage. I have to believe that the cries for a salary cap are going to ring louder, like Briggs said. How can anyone compete with a team that seemingly has more resources than most MLB teams combined? I'm sure the example will be that the Yankees haven't won the World Series since 2000. While true, there has never been an offseason spending spree like this one, on which they basically monopolized the top free agents. I now find it even more ironic that the Yankees wanted the Brewers to pick up some/all of Cameron's contract in that potential trade. I didn't think I could despise the Yankees anymore than I did. They proved me wrong.
  10. If that Newsday report is true, I'm ok with that. Yet, I can't help but wonder if it is just Melvin posturing. Melvin is not "actively" pursuing a trade, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't happen if/when the Yankees call. What I deduce from that report is this: Melvin is done contacting the Yankees; it's up to them now to contact the Brewers. And if they really want Cameron they're going to be the ones to call and they'll have to sweeten the deal. If Cameron remains a Brewer (which would be fine with me) I hope that this means they can still acquire some decent pitching this offseason, which I imagine they still can. Overall, I'm not disappointed if this report turns out to be true.
  11. I was born in Milwaukee to a family that had always lived in Milwaukee. In 1986, when I was six years old, my family moved from Milwaukee to a town of 200 in North Dakota. There wasn't a whole lot to do there, other than to go to the playground and shoot hoops, or go to the baseball diamond and play ball. The only sports on TV were Chicago Bulls basketball (which is where my affinity for Michael Jordan grew), Minnesota Vikings football (thank goodness my dad is an avid Packers fan), and Atlanta Braves baseball. I watched the Braves occasionally in the late 80's. I liked baseball, but didn't really understand it. In 1989 my family moved back to the Milwaukee area. I remained a Braves fan and followed them, and my love for baseball grew when they went from worst to first in 1991. I was hooked and cheered for the Braves as if they were my hometown team. Little did I know that they somewhat were. But from that point on I began to follow the Brewers, as my dad seemed to do on a more regular basis. I would occasionally be taken to a game or two with my dad or people we got to know. It was in 1992 that my love for the Brewers bloomed. I was enamored with Pat Listach. I wanted him to win the Rookie of the Year badly. I thought Kenny Lofton was a scrub. In English class in 6th grade I wrote why Pat Listach should be ROY over Kenny Lofton and gave stats to back up my claim. (On a side note, some of you are killing my childhood picture of Pat Listach when you talk about how he shouldn't have won ROY http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif) But even after his dissapointing sophomore season I was hooked on baseball, and specifically, the Brewers. I was devastated when Molitor left, but was excited about a guy named Cirillo. I liked Greg Vaughn and "Vaughn's Valley". I liked Dante Bichette because he had a funny name. Silly things like that got me hooked on the Brewers. The summers during my high school years would always include Brewer games in the left field bleachers, even though the team wasn't very good. It was still nice to see baseball. Some of my best childhood memories are of times at County Stadium. And then, in 1998, when they made the switch to the NL, I was excited that I'd have a chance to see the Brewers play the Braves. I got to attend Cubs/Brewer games in the right field bleachers when Sosa was injecting and using corked bats at his prime. My story may sound the same as others, but its unique to me and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I wouldn't trade being a Brewer fan for being a fan of any other team.
  12. You are correct. But the date of Game three was October 4th, which is what hawing was saying.
  13. At first, it took me a while to figure out who you were talking about. Now I know...
  14. I am not ready to give up on 2009 yet either. As Homer said, there is a lot of young talent on this team. Parra now has a full year of experience under his belt, which he should improve from. Gallardo is a bit of a wildcard, since he was out most of last year, but there is no question about his ability, that's for sure. I have no doubt that Melvin will add a quality arm to the rotation and solidify the pen. And let's not forget that our lineup is still pretty much the same. The Brewers were in first for most of 2007 with most of our current lineup/rotation, and they were in the thick of things in 2008 even before CC arrived. With all that in mind, I don't think it is nearly as dire as Buster Olney would lead people to believe. 2009 is not a wash by any stretch of the imagination.
  15. Adam McCalvy classified the deal as "delayed", according to a Milwaukee official Brewers.com Story
  16. Brewers will not pick up any tab on Cameron. But TH does use the word "unless." Link
  17. I'm fairly certain that it has been stated numerous times that trades cannot happen between MLB teams and Japanese teams. It would be nice if that fact would be taken into account before that suggestion continues to be made.
  18. Danzig, I completely agree with your sentiment. I, too, believe he doesn't want to pitch in Milwaukee anymore. But we don't know if that is exactly the case. So why not offer him 2yr/26 mil, or maybe 2 yr/ 30 mil? Give it a shot and see what happens. The worst he can say is no. And if he says yes, going into next season, you have the same rotation that you started with to begin last season. I don't like the Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox for that matter either. Yet, I would find it most painful to watch Sheets pitch for a division or league rival, considering we would have to face him multiple times during the season. That would sting much more to me, moreso than seeing him on a team I loathe, knowing he won't have the opportunity to pitch against the Brewers. Example: I had a sick feeling in my stomach every time Coco Cordero came into to close out a game this past year against the Brewers, or whenever Carlos Lee comes up to bat against the Crew. That stings much more, because it has the potential to impact my favorite team in a very direct way.
  19. According to mlbtraderumors, the Yanks may offer 2 yrs./ 26 mil. to Sheets. To me, that's a steal for the Yankees. If I were Melvin, I'd offer that to him, even with the Sabathia situation still unclear. Link
  20. I hope they get that settled soon. I have Dish and am really hoping that they carry MLB Network on their standard packages.
  21. It would appear that they grabbed that from The Seattle Times. Article
  22. Haudricourt on the D-List, responding to a question about the Braves asking about Hart: "Melvin said to the Braves that he's not motivated to move him." He used that phrase "Melvin said he's not motivated..." at least three times.
  23. To me, having an opt-out clause after 3 years makes too much sense. He'll only be 31, I believe, and would still be in line for a huge contract. Perhaps by then the California teams would be in a better position to sign him to a deal, because it seems right now that those West Coast teams have other priorities than pitching. Texiera going somewhere other than LAA certainly changes that. But to me, the opt-out after 3 years makes too much sense for both parties involved.
  24. If I am understanding you correctly, you can click on the baseball to the left of the thread, and that should take you to the newest post in the thread. Is this what you're referring to?
